Not leaving yet, I bought this house 25 years ago and it's time to let it go. I lived in it for awhile and then rented it. The last guy stayed 10 years. Between a full time and part time job and other commitments I'm just getting tired. Put over 10K into the most recent work. It would be a good home for somebody.

Grew up with a Winchester model 67 A Boys Rifle, bought it for 15 bucks used about 40 years ago. Bolt action, single shot. Open sights, accurate, taught me how to bear down and get it done. Still have it. He will learn to shoot better with a single shot when not counting on a quick shot number 2, 3, 4, 5 through 18.

25-06 ???? Best all around bullet

The above quote was also replied to in another topic but attempting to bring this out individually. Isn't it odd that that two weeks ago the above online statement also included " A valid license must have been purchased before the deadline date of the application period" This statement has now been removed and added towards the bottom of the same page as if it always existed. I guess it's the departments web page and they can amend it as they choose, but I have lost all faith in this years draw. I started filling out online apps 3 weeks before the deadline and it took 4 evenings to get 14 apps to go through. One would fly through without hiccup and the next would error out stating "invalid hunter I.D. number". These apps were for members of my family, all of who have been applying for hunts for numerous years. After several attempts of entering the same app the website would hose up. The next night same problem, couple apps. would go through and then errors. My son in law and grandson's apps had the "last years license" issue. When I tried to purchase new licenses I would get a pop up window stating "valid license already on file" . Finally was able to purchase 2015 licenses after the app deadline, so I think they will be rejected per the above statement. This isn't my first go round with online apps. We apply for everything and I am very computer competent with a high speed connected MAC. I have never been a AZGFD basher, but I think this draw was a complete fiasco to which the general public will never be made aware. I feel like I bought 14 raffle tickets for a prize that never existed. Well 13, we did get charged for 1 bull tag. Like This Quote MultiQuote Delete Edit

Anyone have a CC hit that couldn't buy a license during the draw process?

7mm-08 is a good cartridge with a lot of different bullet weights available. My daughter has shot one since she was a 10 year old and she weighs about a buck 15 at 21. Taken elk, deer, pigs etc. with Hornady's and core lokt's. Nothing fancy. Pound for pound a 12 gauge with a ounce and a eighth of shot kicks more than a 180 grain bullet out of a 30-06, save the "brakes" for the RUM's.

I would take the follow up shot every time. Always.

I run the factory plastic top on my 2009. I did replace the cheap factory clamps with 1 1/2 inch ridgid conduit one hole straps. I also put 1/2 inch weatherstripping between the top and the roll bar before bolting it down and installed two extra clamps. 6 instead of 4. I have the half windshield also. It is kind of cold and lets a lot of rain in but in the summer it is way to hot with the full windshield.

Vaquero outfitters..... Ouch that'll leave a mark

That's the thing to do, fatten the yearlings all summer just to run them into jerky with a helicopter. Yeah right, Ranch Manager? -

Question about tanning a snake skin - updated with pics
singleshot replied to CJNAZ's topic in The Campfire
Try Corn Huskers Lotion sometime to tan your snake hides. Pin them scales down and salt them until dry and then work them over quite a few times with Corn Huskers Lotion. Avoid getting any on the rattles. They turn out super pliable and last forever. -
Hey Lark, The old man has 2 model 14's, one in 30 Remington with the spiral mag. that was my Grandpas and one in 44-40. Both in excellent condition. One day I'm gonna kill a coues with that 30 Remington.

singleshot replied to MULEPACKHUNTER's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Yeah he did Lark. And it's your all time number one favorite caliber!!! 7mm-08! Built on a Marlin XS7. He says it's the last one and it is my daughters. He's had a few serious set backs lately and unfortunately this is probably the last one. Pretty one though. -

It's always amazed me how people lose things while out. Backpacks falling out of UTV's etc. But then yesterday, I had to back up several times to get turned around after returning from my Daughters hunt, and there in the rear view mirror was her Badlands pack. Just a fluke I saw it and it would have been quite pricey to have lost it. I hope your buddy gets his case back. Lot's of good people out and about, odds are pretty high.

They grow up fast. Enjoy every moment. My daughter Sarah lives in the city now but she still comes home to go out hunting. Glassed up 4 Coatis yesterday and asked her if she wanted to shoot one. She said if it's legal let's do it. 157 yards with her 7mm-08.

Great video with some really nice bucks. -
Several weeks ago I was able to fill out one application and then got the same message you posted and another odd one. It continued through out the evening. Happened to me again several times during the following weeks. One application would scream right through, the next would crash.

What a great adventure to share with your kids. Congratulations! Just out of curiosity what load are you shooting?

Made it out with my son the day after Christmas. Got a pretty good jump on daylight and topped over through a saddle on a ridge that sees a ton of glassing pressure from the highway. Picked up some smaller three points and quite a few does before Dane glassed up this buck bedded below us at 370 yards. He crawled out on a rock and heart shot him with his 300 WSM. My son in law and Daughters boyfriend from Vermont were able to watch it all go down also.
