Simmer, don't boil. It takes longer but the teeth won't fall out. Put em on the outdoor stove, add some dishwashing soap, some 20 mule team, start doing all those honey do's that keep keep you in the field. Dump out all that grease after a couple hours and then simmer it again for a few more. Do some more honey do's. Put it in a five gallon bucket and take it to the car wash, if you do loose some teeth the bucket catches them. Dry it in the sun for a few days and then spray it with Krylon gloss white. If it has antlers tape them off. Boiling can cause the skull to separate at the growth plates, all the teeth to fall out etc.

Turn it into a coues hunt. Climb and glass, chasing bugles is fun but they should be able to get on bulls every outing by glassing the burns.

2015 Ford F-250 super duty diesel or 2015 Chevy Duramax
singleshot replied to az-6.5-284's topic in The Campfire
Drove chevy trucks my whole life. Drove the Dura Max and the 6.7 Ford last year when deciding on a new truck. The chevy was fully loaded, the Ford was fairly basic SLT package. The ride, power, transmission, braking, handling and cab size sold me on the Ford. -

About 28 years ago I worked in a machine shop for a short while. I was really into archery and the owner asked if there was something that maybe he could bring to the archery field. I told him that it was probably about as high tech as it would ever get. Boy was I STUPID. Nice video thanks for sharing. -
Be aggressive, your not hunting deer your hunting elk. If your not getting busted on a regular basis your not being aggressive enough. Don't be afraid to hunt bedding areas. If you push them out don't worry about it. A different bunch is liable to be in the same beds the next day. When spooked elk generally take a horizontal path. Loop out in semicircles further than what you might think and lots of times you can get in front of the herd again.

I always wanted to shoot one of those… except with a sheet of plywood on it's head.

Oldest Arizona bear you'be ever harvested?
singleshot replied to AZHUNTER05's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
16 years, had a tag in it's ear that was placed there as a cub by Al Lecount who did bear studies in the Pinalenos. Shot about 400 yards from where it was caught when the tag was placed. -

$ 150.00 for the Ithica? Real walnut, somebody buy this. Walmart has 16 gauge all day. We have a 37 that has been through generations without a hiccup. Exceptional quality at an exceptional price. I would trust this for home defense or every day use over just about anything out there. Well …… other than a good SINGLESHOT! That's a good buy.

Has anyone seen any LARGE junipers here in Arizona?

Here's a pretty good one. Survived a few fires. -
I know I'm going to get bashed again for this but for general purpose use Echo makes a really good saw. I cut about 4 cords a year of mesquite and some juniper and aspen. I have an Echo 440 with a 20 inch bar. Never been in the shop, original spark plug, starts in a few pulls at any elevation. It's 13 years old. Sits for months at a time with no fuel saver in the gas, fires right up. For the average guy Echo is a good choice also.
