Roughly 18 inches at Turkey Flat on Mt. Graham, about 8000 feet elevation.

Killed my first bull with one back in 1991. 12 yard shot with a PSE Jet Flight Express, 22 1/2 inch 2219 xx75 arrow using the long overdraw that was all the rage back then. They later came out with a 125 grain version that was green.

Cabelas Anaknak vs Traditional Canvas
singleshot replied to rossislider's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I have a Montana canvas 12x17 with no cutout for a stove or window, but I do have screened doors at each end. It is 18 years old, with a KwikKamp internal frame. I have had to shorten the leg poles and rafter poles a couple of times because of shrinkage. I have never re-sealed the exterior with canvak or any other type of sealer. It has never leaked a drop of rain. The internal frame set up will withstand high winds and I have had it snow several inches on it with no problems at all. It weighs well over 100 pounds without the frame and is kind of cumbersome. It's been a great tent. I have a good friend who owns the Alaknak. It is the largest model they sale with two add on vestibules. After staying in that tent for a couple of weeks at different times If I had it to do over again I would go with the Alaknak. Significantly less weight, adaptability with the add on vestibules, overall the quality and the engineering and thought that went into this tent is outstanding. -

I have a 6.5 C.M. in the Weatherby Vanguard S2. I have never been a fan of tupperware but the stock actually feels really solid and mounts well. The trigger is nice and it shoots stiff hand loads very well. I have been nothing but impressed with this rifle and I would buy another one.

I have a Yeti 120. It weighs 38 pounds empty. It was a gift and I'm very happy with how well it keeps things cold and keeps ice. I bought an rtic for my son in law. Half the price and it is an excellent cooler also.

Optimum Coues Cartridge?
singleshot replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
6.5x55 Swede pushing a 129 grain Hornady SST at about 2900. I carried one for about 25 years and it just holds a special spot for me. Shot 120 grain Sierra's out of it. These days I would go with the SST, better ballistic choices but the SST is a mean bullet. There's a guy on here selling a Forbes in this caliber, really nice set up. I would love to pick up that Forbes but my Grandpa's Remington model 14 in 30 Remington, shooting a 150 grain Core Lokt or Power Point needs to breathe again. Maybe next year. -

In Aldo Leupold's book "A Sand County Almanac" I believe it states that the last grizzly in AZ was killed by a "set gun" a rifle tied in a tree with a trip wire on a trail, on the Escudilla.

I had been drooling over The Kimber Ascents on the web for awhile now. I finally held one at the Sportsman's in Glendale on Saturday. The rifle was chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I thought that the action was pretty sloppy, quite a bit of side to side movement and "slop". It felt kind of tinny and Toy -ish. The muzzle brake was stamped .270 even though the barrel was clearly stamped 6.5 Creedmoor. I asked the counter boys about it and they shrugged thier shoulders and put it back on the shelf. They also had a rack full of Legendary Arms Works rifles at basically the same price. They are a little heavier but overall I was much more impressed with the smoothness of the action, and feel of the rifle. Any Idea why the muzzle brake would be stamped .270 in a 6.5 chambering? Factory defect?

Do you know if this would fit in a 2009 700 XP ? -
Excellent deal.

That's just a really clean looking beautiful rifle! Love the wood, recoil pad, scope, caliber, classic beauty.

Lawley Ford in Silver City New Mexico. Talk to Jeff Rico. I saved over 13k on my 2014 over anything I could find in AZ. Hole in the wall dealer but they move trucks and will get you every discount imaginable.

Will K is exactly right. The acceptable level until about five years ago was 100 PPB. One of the city of Safford's main wells came in at 11 PPB and now has to be blended per ADEQ standards.

Black tail in the Chiricahua's at about 5500 feet elevation. ' Narrow black bands on the tail, pretty sure this is a Mojave at about 3000 feet elevation.

Corn huskers hand lotion. Has both glycerin and alcohol in it. Works really good.

Most of the accuracy problems with a Ruger #1 is because of the way that the fore end attaches to the barrel. I shoot a #1 in 7mm mag and it always shot OK with a variety of handholds but never great. Eventually I added a Hicks Accurizer. You have to do some work on the fore end to install it but what you end up with is a set screw that allows you to adjust the pressure on the barrel and you can basically tune the whip of the barrel to your load. Made a tremendous difference with my rifle.

Ripped my left pectoral off my humerus and blew my shoulder out throwing a calf three years ago. Michael Dersam with Arizona orthopedics did a wonderful job on me. Great range of motion and a pretty painless recovery considering the severity. I was elk hunting with my son and carrying a light pack a month later.
