Well the suspension was about as compressed as it could be and the load was heavy, but I had no problems doing the speed limit 90% of the time. There was a few big hills that bogged me down pretty good. The trailer itself tracked and pulled great. The only limitations was the truck not the trailer. The trailer is Moab rated and they say you can pull it anywhere your truck will pull it. It has a really beefy axle so I could imagine you could go just about anywhere.

Awesome deal on these boots. Wish they were an 11.

Brass splitting help!!!!
jarheadhunter replied to hunter1026's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
From the looks of it they have been sized one to many times. I had the same thing happen to me. Always fun to get the stuck case out of the chamber. I usually close the bolt and put balls or cigarette like tissue down the barrel and follow it with a cleaning rod to compact it. After I have about half of the case full I open the bolt and shoot a blast of compressed air down the barrel and it usually falls right out. -
I was just curious on some opinions on the scope and if anyone here has or had any experience with one? I have had mine about 6 months now and I am really liking it. I got a discount coupon from Burris sent to me which was good for 60% off any optic for a military discount. I think it ended up being just under $1k. I put it on my Savage 300 Win mag and worked up a good load of 79.5 gr H1000 with 185gr Berger Classic hunters. I am confident out to 800 right now on deer sized game only because I don't have a ton of shooting time in yet. I am confident that I can get a lot closer then that and will get as close as possible before taking any shots on game. I just think it is just fun to go out and give it a go on various targets. I have let a few of my buddies try it out and they were impressed with the whole package. I have had a few people that aren't really fans of the scope and say what's the point and so on. I really don't see much difference between this and having to range and dial yardage besides it takes longer to fumble around with that. You still need to know how to shoot and read the wind. With the load I am currently shooting I can get out to about 1150 yds and then the scope is out of calculated holdover. Overall the glass and function of the scope is far better then I was expecting. Here is a pic of my set up now. I got some flak on another sight for having a break on it and using a lead sled. I only use the lead sled because it's the only rest I have right now.

How much are you willing to pay?

I have the Minox ZA5 in the 3-15x42. I don't know if I would really consider it a long range scope. It doesn't come with a turret set up even though I guess you could set it up yourself. The glass itself is really good. I currently have it on a 30-06 and really like it so far. I got it from camerland for under $200 I believe. Mine doesn't have the Side Focus which I would prob want if I were using it for a long range scope. If you have any other questions please let me know.

Who has an Alaskan Guide Creations Bino Pack?
jarheadhunter replied to jarheadhunter's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I haven't had that problem with this. As you can see by looking at the pic I posted the piece that goes in the middle of your back stays where you put it once you adjust the strap down tight. I have sprinted with this thing on and it has virtually no bounce and doesn't slide out of position. -

Yeah I used that for about a year and it really bugged me. Seems it would always snag my neck hair and one of the points of the thing is so you don't have extra weight on your neck. -
Well hopefully that's the truth and you didn't just become part of the investigation. I wouldn't think a new guide would chance loosing his business by shooting a buck like that illegally, but I would also think a buck like that would catch a lot of attention on the front of his website.

BACKPACKING BOOTS OPINIONS NEEDED
jarheadhunter replied to crazy4COUES's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I am a big Wolverine fan and I recently decided to spend some money one a good quality pair of boots. Ended up getting the Crispi Nevada GTX and I am impressed. They were comfortable right out of the box and required no break in for me. I pretty much use them from Sept-Feb. I like them so much I am considering getting the un-insulated Idaho version for the earlier hunts. I have tried the Meindel Perfekt boots and took them back because they squeeked really bad. I then tried the new Lightweight version and had the same issues and my feet got wet in them so took them back. -
Was out with a buddy on his LE Archery hunt here in UT and was able to get a few good pics. Hope you enjoy them. Saw 6 bears in two days. This guy climbed a tree above a 40 ft cliff and was out there eating some kind of nut or berry off the tree. Few of the elk we saw This guy was the best for pics about 100 yds away and stood there for about 45 min.

Very honest of you and I can appreciate that. I have had that happen to me a few times. Going to buy something and the guy tells me someone offered him more money and he sold it to them. Your OK in my book. -

My step father had the Viper HD and sold it to get the Razor HD 50 mm and is very pleased with his decision.
-
If I was you I would go look through them. IMO while your there and looking grab the new Razor 50mm and look through that. For the weight and size savings and IMO better glass I would go with that.

Not bad for an iPhone through a spotter.

Found another good one. Have a bunch of video too, but they look crappy after I upload them.

Good job Zac. Too bad I couldn't of met you, but sounds like you will be back. I will have to go see your buck in person.

alternative to outdoorsmans and jim white panning heads
jarheadhunter replied to creed_az_88's topic in Optics and tripods
As stated above there are heads out there that are just as smooth. I have a velbon carbon tripod and a FHD-61q from velbon. I now use my outdoorsmans tripod and head for backpacking and when weight isn't an issue I use the Velbon. The FHD-61q is a great head and I almost prefer it or at least can't tell a difference between the two. The thing I like most about it is the outdoorsmans is so small it's awkward sometimes. The velbon is a little bigger and seems like it is easier to operate the pan and tilt levers and grab the handle if that's what you call it. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=895045&Q=&is=REG&A=details
