    Elk Vid

Nice vid. I like the way the video is shaking to the rhythm of the music! KP
  2. 165 grain Core Lokts will kill an elk and any deer - nice all-purpose bullet. KP

    24B Pictures.

cramerhunts: NIce pics. I've got an October 24b tag. See any bucks? KP
  4. While up at Big Lake, my buddy and I located numerous species of mushrooms including these from the bolete family: KP
  5. Looks like the Russula variety we have here in AZ. KP
  6. I'm looking into a new pair of binocs. I use 8x42's for larger game, but I'm thinking I need more magnification and larger objectives to spot coues. Between 10x50 and 12x50 optics, what are the pros and cons of each? I don't necessarily wish to carry a tripod around the entire time I'm hunting, but would consider doing it in spots. I don't want to go any higher than 12x. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated. KP

    24B

cacciatore: By the way, nice name since I'm Italian too. I also drew this tag, but I've never hunted this unit so I don't have any suggestions to date. I'll certainly provide you with some tips once they become available to me, or when I start scouting - please do the same. KP
  8. Is that 5B North or South? Any chance is it by Hutch Mountain? KP

    UNIT 30b whiteys....????

I had a leftover tag in 30B a few years ago, and the unit was in very bad shape. I believe the numbers are starting to rebound a bit, but it will still be a tough hunt because of access issues. From the feedback I received during my hunt, if you can make it into the Mule Mountains you'll have the best shot at taking a deer. There aren't as many access issues in the Dragoons since much of the mountain range is national forest, but the roads are rough and you'll have to do quite a bit of hiking to get to decent areas. Plus, the deer densities aren't that great because of drought and predation. Good Luck! KP

    Kaibab on fire!

Hope they don't close the part of the forest around Cataract or Kaibab Lakes. My family and I are heading up to the Flagstaff/Williams area next weekend, would like to be able to get some fishing in. KP
  13. Was driving north on 101 from Chandler this afternoon, and spotted a blue dodge truck with a coueswhitetail.com sticker on the rear window. Just wondered who it was, haven't seen many forum members out my way.... BTW, I was in a white Ford Expy. KP

I've heard of a Honda knock-off sold at Pep Boys that is basically a Honda motor but much less expensive since it's made in China. Heard some pretty good things about it on some of the RV forums... KP
  15. Rimhunter: I noticed you live in Globe. Were you just visiting the valley? Kind of cool seeing the sticker, and good to know there are other hunters in my neck of the woods! KP
  16. I've fished both lakes, and both are stocked regularly for trout. Before you go, check the AZGFD fishing report to be sure roads are open to those lakes. If so, you'll be in for a nice trip! KP

Nice job Deerslam, congrats on the pig. Maybe someone has an answer to this question, because I can't seem to put a finger on it. Why is it that wildlife in certain areas will water consistently during daylight hours, while animals in other areas will rarely or never hit a water tank until the sun goes down? What features does the tank used by wildlife during the day have the other tanks don't? I'm not talking about cattle tanks on the side of a road either. Some of the water sources I've scouted required a mile or two of hiking to get to. Thanks, KP

Way to hang in there and keep at it! What unit did you pick up this prize at? KP

    37B Javelina

Shorty: 37B is probably a lot like 37A - dry. Look for water tanks, catchments, or guzzlers and you'll be in on the pigs. Good luck. KP
  25. Great job of dropping that pig. You're both beaming with excitement in that pic! KP
