AZ Coues hunt on the Outdoor Channel
kphunter replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I watched part of it. He was hunting a canyon in a tree stand somewhere in Payson. He did get a pretty nice buck. KP -
We have a pure bread male beagle, about 5 months old for sale. He's cute, loveable, and would make a great pet. Send me an email if you're interested, and I'll send you recent pics and additional info: kpangler@qwest.net Thanks! KP

Bump - great family dog, especially for the price. Pure bred beagle, champion blood lines from both the mother and the father. Mom has her confirmation title, obedience and rally titles. Dad has bred over 64 champions. Just sold the last female, but the male is still available! KP

azpackhorse: What specifically was the issue you had with the online application? KP

Bump - puppy still for sale. I've had several folks interested, but no takers. Puppy has all his shots, and is micro-chipped. Would make a great family companion. KP

Another great product that does a great job cleaning up photos (and it's free!) is Picasa. http://picasa.google.com/ It has tools that will sharpen the photo, adjust color, contrast, crop, etc. It also catalogs your pics into albums by date. KP

Revisiting electronic ear muffs for field use
kphunter replied to kphunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Although they're pricier, I like the Walkers muffs because they're slimmer and will not impede shooting. And compared to a few of the other slimmer models (Peltor 6S), they have a higher NRR rating. KP -
Revisiting electronic ear muffs for field use
kphunter posted a topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I've been wearing the baffled plugs, but I'm considering the electronic ear muffs again because I can't hear as well as I would like to with the plugs. I know a few forum members use the Peltor Tactical 6 muffs. How well do they block out muzzle blasts? http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...0801&hasJS=true The Radians are the other product I'm looking into. Anyone have any field experience with these muffs? http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...requestid=96177 Thanks for your feedback. KP -

Red Rabbit: Where did you buy the Walkers muffs from? KP -
Meat processing?
kphunter replied to DesertBull's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I've used Millers Southwestern Processing, and I'm happy with them. KP -
Is this for a magazine, or who is sponsoring the reviews for this equipment? KP

Live video-African water hole
kphunter replied to azhuntnut's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Was watching it last night, and there's a pride of lions with a fresh kill near the tank. Really cool!!! KP -
Ditto what AZ Guide said. KP

Fantastic buck. 400 yard shot, what caliber rifle? KP
-
Good luck to all with December tags. From your scouting, are you noticing rut activity in any of the units? KP

bmf: Over the last several years it's been pretty dry around the Picachos. I had a pig hunt in 37A last spring, and I know the challenges one faces in this area. Not only has it been incredibly dry, but the roads going into the Picachos are rough (to say the least). If you're even thinking of entering the Picacho area, 4x4 is a requirement. I know a guy who got stuck in a wash and it took him several hours to get himself out of it. The dirt and sand on the roads is so fine it's the consistency of flour. As AZRDHD said, look for permanent water sources such as cattle tanks. You might want to look farther south in areas that received greater rainfall. KP

California Pig Hunt
kphunter replied to DesertBull's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Congrats! There was a show recently (World of Beretta?) on the Tejon Ranch. Looks like a great place to hunt hogs! KP -
Congrats! What unit, and can you resubmit the pics? KP

I also have seen fair numbers of mulies near Douglas, but don't have a clue about coues in that area. KP
-
5 out of 7 - tough? I'd like to tag along on some of your easier hunts... KP
-
I've killed 3 pigs using a 30.06, and there wasn't much meat damage from the impact. I used a 165 grain Corelokt bullet. KP
-
Nice buck. Running shots aren't easy, congrats on making it happen. KP
-
Great story and pics. I also hunt with my wife, and although neither of us tagged a coues we had a great time trying! KP
-
Definitely 30B. I hunted the Dragoons a few years back, and deer were very scarce indeed. Not to mention the private landowner issues we encountered. Hopefully, the unit is on the upswing and from your success it appears things are looking up! KP

24B--How did the Oct Hunters Do?
kphunter replied to quailchaser's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
My wife and I spotted a few nice bucks, but didn't tag out. Good luck on your hunt. If you see that big one's brother, let me know so I can pursue him next year! KP
