If you have a welder or know someone that does handy some 1/8 plate and cut into a 18"x14"x14" rectangle welded up works great. Cheap to make if you have scrap laying around

I shot him in the afternoon about 6:30pm.i was shooting a 1" standard slick trick. The other darker blood you see is from where someone had shot him either the night before or that morning in the top of the shoulder blade out of a tree stand. When I got in on him the other arrow was sticking straight out te top of his back with maybe only 2 inches of penetration. Just wasn't his lucky day. He only made it 49 yards from where I shot him. Pretty cool getting to watch him drop in sight. Just to give an idea on his frame both beams are 55" long and he has a 49" spread. Definitely a unique bull to say the least.

Sorry on the poor photo quality. All my field photos got deleted off my camera by my easily excited technologically challenged step dad so all I have to show from it is a blurry cell phone photo...

Don't worry... noting to worry about... I'm so sick of hearing that. 19A is screwed for the later hunts. I feel bad for my buddy HUNTAZ... We scouted out many great bucks and he's put even more time in solo. The first week the top 5 bucks on the hitlist were dead. I hope on his muzzy hunt we can just find a high 70s buck after this second archery hunt. Same ole story of G&F issuing way to many tags causing quality to plummet to rock bottom over the corse of 3-4 weeks... Good luck to all who are still holding tags.

Just curious as to what part of Illinois you'll be hunting for a draw tag? I go back to Illinois every year an hunt Brown County area and the permits are over the counter for buck and doe (no limit on doe permits). Good luck on your hunt it's a blast and there's a lot of awesome deer hunting with lots of big bucks running around!

Annealing for accuracy
CWpredator replied to willhunt4coues's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I just set my torch standing. place a socket on an 18v drill that the case fits nicely into. Whit using the drill to spin the case neck in the flame it spreads the heat nice and uniform no hot or cold spots. When the brass turns proper color I dump it out of the socket on the drill into a water pan to quench. I usually only anneal my .338 Lapua brass simply for workability and case life since the brass is so expensive. This method has worked great for me and haven't had to go buy anything specialty to do it. By doing this case life probably avaraged 10-12 reloads and some going as many as 14. I would definitely reccomend annealing to anyone that reloads with high dollar brass. -
If you're considering a full custom build take a look at the Stiller line of actions. They are rem700 clones but are perfect out of the box and 99% of the time require no truing or blueprinting and cost about the same as it would to buy a rem 700 action and have it blueprinted trued and squared. As for a barrel can't go wrong with any custom barrel. krieger as always been my preference along with Jewell triggers. For long range and of the 6.5s 7mms 30s and 33cal are all great choices for the long range. Another thing is don't skimp on optics. The scope is just as important as your rifle componets. Lastly range time! The more you get behind the trigger the better your long range shooting will be

Norway fusion 3" fletched with a medium offset. Low profile, clearance is awesome, they are really stiff, they bond well to arrow shafts, and they stabilize arrows extremely fast without having lots of drag and win drift like high profile 2" vanes like blazers.

What scale do you like?
CWpredator replied to deserthntr's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I've had really good luck as well with the ram shot mag powder in my 338 lapua. And my RCBS digital scale seems to read it extremely easy and consistantly. The scale is a little sensitive when loading powders like h1000. Just gotta have a little patience. -
Large rifle magnum primers
CWpredator replied to DesertBull's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Seems like Fed 215 GMM primers aren't made anymore... Seriously like finding a unicorn... I've got 300 left and am scared to use them in fear of never ever seeing them again -
Use a bow at night... No problem getting a limit

Blades in the wac'ems are chincey and thin. Sharp yes but I will be sticking with the slick tricks. Much more durable head IMO
