Here is the hunter sitting in the log and his brother. Just to put faces to story. We just blew a stalk and were gassed.

Not to often u see a biologist in middle of woods on the water tank u plan on sitting. He walked 10 ft in all sides of tank and then took a net and scooped for micro bugs. Was interesting.

Well crap!!! This is my sons first archery bull tag and the rush of buck fever hit him hard. Legs were shaking as this bull came crashing in. Got on 4 bulls going nuts this am. We were able to pin down one bull on a ridge and he wanted to play. He was a decent 6 (300) and he was pumped up. Few challenge bugles pissed him off and we heard him crashing in. Set up and had a shooting lane. He came in and i cow called and he hit the brakes broadside. 50 yds and he shoots. Instead of following thru i think he looked at the arrow before it was even shot to see if he hit. And nada. Just under. Crap!!!!!!! Well move on and got on a few more bulls but that was pretty much our morning. 90% of the hunters r leaving and things r better for us. Rut has picked up. back at it tonight

Sat water till 45 min before dark. Herd a bugle and we went after. Oh man. got on a 350 bull with 15 cows. Had him going nuts. Closest was 120 yds. dang herd cow would not move. Stayed in between bull and us. So close. Great bull. Back at it tomorrow

Tough day for us. Sat water all afternoon and nada. Elk bugled last 30 min light all around us. Back at it in am. Gonna be more aggressive

Well this morning was frustrating again. Elk bugling all around. 415 we wait till 520 am to get closer. Elk are not responding for us to calls so need to get in front of them. Had another hunter hear the elk and came in pushing hard. Just couldn't seal the deal. Hope to have some excitement this evening like last night. Tons of turkeys everywhere

He came early on his own. Sat water but hunter there. He got on that big bull from first video. Just couldnt seal by himself. Im trying to post videos but signal not letting me. Morning hopefully will be same excitement. Definitely colder which will help

Man o man. Go figure. Son with tag not with us. Got on a elk show tonight. Going nuts. Solid 350 bull and few 300-320 bulls just screaming

Well we are back. My son has been sitting on water for the past four hours and will until dark I have not heard from him. I’m just getting up here and unit is absolutely covered with smoke. Definitely a big forest fire somewhere I’m not sure where. Will be headed out into the woods shortly give you guys an update later tonight

Why is it im sitting at home thinking of elk but my son who has the tag is chasing asu girls. Be back Thursday for the last 7 days.

IMG_7739.mov IMG_7739.mov Well last night we got about 150 yds from the big herd coning to the meadow. He was the big bull we wanted. Just ran out of light. Also last night i will attach a video of a bull we didnt go after he just not a shooter yet, maybe next week. this morning just sucked for us. Went to a new area and not 1 bugle for 4 hours. Then we heard 1 way in the distance and tried to get on him but he was just pushing away and away. My son has to be in phx this week so we will be up Thursday to the following Thursday of when it closes. Hopefully this rut kicks on. Really banking on the last 7 days. Tough morning. Got on a screaming bull at 430. Sat on him till 515. He bugled 1 more time so we moved in slow. Come shooting light he went quiet. Never heard or saw again. moved on to another area. Thru out a locator bugle and about 1/4 mile away. We head that way and once again never another bugle or nothing. Thru some soft cow calls out and nada. They respond 1 time and then just dissapear. Might just have to be more aggressive. well its hot now and eating pizza at morman lake. Have a plan on a few evening bulls we been seeing but its risky. Will keep u updated.

IMG_7733.mov Well no elk. Had turkeys come in at each tank on way back my kids saw a giant elk. Probably biggest they seen in person. 7x7 with about 75 cows. About a 375 bull. Just a freak. Lets see what tomorrow brings.

Well The boys r sitting water where the big bull came in last night. Im exploring some new country. Might sit anwater hole my self tel dark. Update back at camp

Well had 3 bulls going nuts this am and we were ready. Sat on them from 430 to light. About 20 min in it was going down. An ok 5x5 and two unknown bulls bugling but coming in. Well Another hunter parked about 100 yds down from us and threw a bugle. Well they responded and he came in like a 18 yr old virgin at a brothel and blew them all out. Very disappointing on to the next. Bulls bugled for 1 hr after light.
