We will be on elk in am. Just have to cut them off asap. Forest is so fukin loud though. super frustrated and tired. U guys want to hear the crazy part. Even after all this. Feet hurt, knees hurt, crispis blown out, my other son starts his 11m archery cow tag friday. How the heck can i do that. I need mammason to come give massage. Im blown out. We love our kids and go full throttle. My dad was a marine and so was I. I remeber growing up my dad said quit being a pus$y. Be a man and stay at it. Pops was in vietnam and lost his 2 best friends first tour by bouncing betties. (If u know u know). He reminds me of that all the time. Which means enjoy life. So!!!! Well im selling everything. Man o man. Somthis morning. Get out there and have 2 big bulls bugling. Still dark. We pin point one bull amd head that way. We get 150 Yds and all good. I can tell they r moving though towards bedding area and soon as sun peaks they gone. We get about 80 yds from big 6 (320-330) and he has about 6 cows. I ask my son can u see your pins he says no. Chit!!!! They rip there bugles again. We stay put. Not sure what direction they gonna go. Well they turn away from us not towards us and it was a chase from there. Just pushed them. about hour into it i hear a bugle to the side. We head that way and oeak over ridge and boom there is a bunch of cows. Perfect. We freeze. Bull is somewhere. I tell my son be ready. Cows r 40 yds away and dont known we r there. The bull bugles. Game time. At this point no calling cause i think every time i cow call it says “ Im right fukin here”!!!! Insee the bull 65 yds but of course trees in way. We pick a shooting lane. Cows r feeding. I got all day buddy and my feet hurt so im more than happy waiting. Well im frustrated. Here we go. head to another area and show up and soon as i open door about 4 elk were bugling. Was still very early another 45 min till light. We chill for a bit the 20 min before light we load up. Elk still talking but u can tell they gonna head to this big hill to bed. So we get in between. We focus on this one bull that was closest. We get over right in front of him and set up. Hes coming in. U can barely see now and my son says he can see his pins. Another bugle. Perfect, lets get it on. Bugle and coming right at us. There is a small little decline in front of us and hes right on it. We r in a small open area where hes headed. One more bugle and now buck fever is here cause its going down. Well!!!!! Not another bugle from him and after about 2 min im like wtf!! We head that way and gone.. Long gone. Not another bugle from him or any other elk. They all shut up. Couldnt get on them again. back out andnno where they r going so we jumped in tacoma and drover to the south side of the hill where they will bed on the north side. We head up this hill above 75 ft from top. We slow creep to where they bed and just chill about 30’min. Boom. We see a bull and 3 cows walking slow. We hang out about 30 Min and see what they do. We lose them. Chit!! Well a few of u on here said try some cold calling and get his attention if still there. Well i threw a few soft cow calls and u would think there was an atom bomb that went off. They ran faster than u could believe. Hahahaha. back to drawing board. I have no problem getting on elk every day. Even decent bulls. Just cant seal it. Never been stumped like this. Will try some new chit this pm.

Here for night. Hot. So hopefully they hit. Middle of unit. Usually sit together but this manmade blind was too small. See how this goes

Well today took a turn for the worse. Out at 4 am and bugles were cut by 75%. They would bugle one time and thats it. So chasing bugles was out today. Changing areas tonight to sit water. See how it goes. Time to shoot anything. Rut just isn't going here. Hot now this week so gonna be tough.
-
Not sure what happened tonight but they didnt want to play tonight. Water sucked and no bugles where we have been hearing them nightly. Back at it in the morning. 3 am comes quick. Just got back throwing a steak on.
-
They were videoing a flock of turkeys that came on in. Tons of turkeys out this year.
-
Here is the hunter sitting in the log and his brother. Just to put faces to story. We just blew a stalk and were gassed.
-
Not to often u see a biologist in middle of woods on the water tank u plan on sitting. He walked 10 ft in all sides of tank and then took a net and scooped for micro bugs. Was interesting.

Well crap!!! This is my sons first archery bull tag and the rush of buck fever hit him hard. Legs were shaking as this bull came crashing in. Got on 4 bulls going nuts this am. We were able to pin down one bull on a ridge and he wanted to play. He was a decent 6 (300) and he was pumped up. Few challenge bugles pissed him off and we heard him crashing in. Set up and had a shooting lane. He came in and i cow called and he hit the brakes broadside. 50 yds and he shoots. Instead of following thru i think he looked at the arrow before it was even shot to see if he hit. And nada. Just under. Crap!!!!!!! Well move on and got on a few more bulls but that was pretty much our morning. 90% of the hunters r leaving and things r better for us. Rut has picked up. back at it tonight

Had another hunter hear the elk and came in pushing hard. Just couldn't seal the deal. Hope to have some excitement this evening like last night. Tons of turkeys everywhere
