Lol... I almost stepped on a black tailed rattler on Sat morning in 23S. Little guy didn't even rattle.
-
I didn't see any but heard a few shots nearby. Lots of guys glassing from the road on 288.

I would not want to have to build a cooler after I just packed an elk out. If you debone the meat it should fit in one 120 qt cooler.
-
I bet that rifle has some cool hunting history... good luck with the sale.

Does the 375 Ruger have a place in AZ?
wayno945 replied to khmer6's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I use a 35 Whelen for elk... it works great. A 375 Ruger would be like the hammer of Thor... go for it! -
Base of bullet at the bottom of the case neck. You could seat it out longer but it has to fit in your action. What type of action? Dimensions?

Have the barrel rechambered to 7-300WSM. Use 300WSM brass to load for it. You can also use 300 WSM brass in a 7WSM, but it requires necking down to 7mm to create a false shoulder and fireforming.

I think I'm going with blackhole weaponry for my 6.5 Creedmoor build. Waiting for them to run a discount promotion before I order. -
My first load results on my own table and press

Lots of guys start about .010" off the lands of the rifling and seat the bullet deeper until they find their optimal COL. Hornady makes a tool to measure bullet distance to the rifling. Just be aware that the further you seat the bullet inside of the case, the internal pressure will rise. Also, bullet contacting the lands when fired will also cause pressure spikes. Check out the video: -

The barrel heating up can cause flyers, especially this time of year. Is your rifle bedded? You might want to vary your bullet seating depth with those same powder charges to see if that will improve your groups. -
Anyone have trouble with stick powder in their powder measure
wayno945 replied to apache12's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I use a chargemaster as well. I always only charge one case at a time and then seat the bullet. If you program the chargemaster, it will start dispensing once you put the powder tray back on the scale. Going back and forth is easy that way. -

300 Win Mag rounds. What would you use.

Shoot each into a row of water jugs and see how they perform. The accubonds will probably give you the best combo of penetration / weight retention of your choices. -
Stainless steel tumbler is the way to go.
