Varmint hunters question
wayno945 replied to Coues assassin's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Let them rot. Take the fur if you want. Killing coyotes is all about taking pressure off game populations i.e. deer fawns. -

My first blue grouse!
wayno945 replied to AZcoyotehunter's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I saw a dozen of them while I was elk hunting up in Montana a few weeks ago. Cool birds, but they'll scare the crap out of you when they flush. -
Congrats! Thanks for sharing.

Way to go!

Nosler TGR 257 Roberts Vortex Viper HS Testing some loads this weekend ! -
+100 on the Kuiu gear. I'm in the process of replacing all of my Max-1 with Kuiu in the Vias pattern. It really breaks up your outline in virtually every environment, plus it's the most comfortable stuff I've ever worn. Hunting or not.. Same here... they're like pajamas! Love the Kuiu in VIas camo.

Shooting Bows and pellet guns within a 1/4 mile of a building
wayno945 posted a topic in The Campfire
I was just reading through the regs and I couldn't find anything about shooting bows or pellet guns within 1/4 mile of a building. Is it legal? -
Shooting Bows and pellet guns within a 1/4 mile of a building
wayno945 replied to wayno945's topic in The Campfire
I only saw a reference to 30 caliber or larger. “Firearm” means any loaded or unloaded handgun, pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun or other weapon that will discharge, is designed to discharge or may readily be converted to discharge a projectile by the action of an explosion caused by the burning of smokeless powder, black powder, or black powder substitute. h. Discharge a pneumatic weapon .30 caliber or larger while taking wildlife within one-fourth mile of an occupied farmhouse or other residence, cabin, lodge or building without permission of the owner or resident. -
Congrats... way to get it done!

I'm planning on using my 657 41mag this year. I'd use the 686, that should be a little flatter shooting if you have a longer shot opportunity.

Make your voice heard ---- wolf comments
wayno945 replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I think most of those people posting are making multiple comments under fake names. What a farce. What are the odds a susan kay and a kay susan would comment five minutes apart. Those people aren't even trying to hide it... -
Where were you hunting?

Anyone have this hunt (1098)? Looking for someone to share a campsite with, my hunting buddies didn't get their apps in on time. Any pointers are welcome as well...

I use hard cast loads in my backup handguns while hunting. I would try out these buffalo bore loads, 200gr @ 1000 fps would be a bear killer for sure. If using an OEM glock barrel, you need to make sure you fire some test rounds to make sure there's no lead buildup in the barrel. https://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=349

Good luck... bring back some good stories!

Which 7.62x54R should I stick with?
wayno945 replied to Scooter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Did you chrono the load or are you using factory velocity data? I would think that 4 inches would show a substantial difference in velocity.
