Yellowstone tourists react as wolves gang up on grizzly bear
HorseHunter posted a topic in The Campfire
Wolf Pack vs Griz and no I don’t mean not Montana vs Nevada Interesting video although the commentary is a bit annoying, still worth a watch. Here is the link to the article. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2020/10/yellowstone-tourists-react-as-wolves-gang-up-on-grizzly-bear-travel -
That’s cool! I need to pony up for the Pro Series next time. Outfitter is what I have. Thanks for the info.

I own Canyon too (and they are my go-to) but they are made in Vietnam, not Arizona. They are distributed from Flagstaff and anymore that seems to be as close as you can get to Made in the USA-ish.

Yeah, I was kidding about that. I need to get better with the emojis and whatnot to help communicate intent. I shy away from them since I asked my wife if she got the Hershey Kiss I sent her and she informed me that it was indeed not a kiss but a pile of excrement... So back to Jellystone, my bride and I were having breakfast in Gardner, circa 1998, and the nice older couple seated next to us must have felt chatty so I let them know how excited I was at my prospects on a Yellowstone early Elk Opener. There faces lost all expression and they uttered in disbelief “you can’t hunt in the park” and I replied with a mouth full of pancake “pretty sure I can, it’s our park after all”..... then I turned my attention to my coffee and left them hanging a bit. My wife of 5 days let them down gently and they were relieved when she told them I was joking. Hey, awesome insight on the culling stoping in the 1960’s. I did not know that. Thank you.

Those Yellowstone NP tags are hard to come by anymore.

That place is loaded with coyotes, rabbits, house cats, and little dogs. With the washes and golf courses as corridors it’s not a surprise periodic puma sighting occurs.

Frustrated newbie seeking advice
HorseHunter replied to Calebwalter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
The azgf website has a great write up on every unit by species. https://www.azgfd.com/hunting/units/mesa/24a/ Find any excuse to get out there as much as you can. Learning how to glass will make all the difference. -
If the pic you posted you need a 15” rim your current tire is 235 mm wide the side wall height is 75% of The above width its a Radial tire (as opposed to bias ply) mounted on a 15” rim that is how you read 235 / 75 R 15

Great looking rifle! Tubular magazine so nothing to loose track of and the .22 Mag is a nice cartridge. Bump for a nice rifle and a trustworthy seller. Buy with confidence.

Heluva Buck! Looks like Thomas is hooked on hunting now! Great work Thomas and men! None of us hunt alone, even when out solo, we have the voices of our mentors and forefathers That help guide our next move. -
I’m just saying I would not hit a drive thru with that setup. Seriously, One of those remote cameras on the back of the fifth-wheel would be handy in this case.

So why is it marked diesel only? What would the difference be? My gasser V-10 could use one of these. Was thinking of doing one of those high capacity super duty tanks.

Winchester 94 Commemorative 38-55 Octagon Barrel
HorseHunter replied to twigsnapper's topic in Classified Ads
Fine looking lever rifle. A collector for sure. I hadn’t seen a 38-55 before. Good luck with sale. -
This is making me thirsty! I guess the marketing piece works! Good luck with the sale.

How does the old phrase go? “Run like a rabbit, die like a rabbit.” Or “Take the runners out of the gene pool.” When you are running a flushing hound (Aka my Retriever) or are dog less and they run out to 40-50 yards before they bust it Is so frustrating. When shooting a double I like a 7-1/2 in the first barrel and 6 in the second or 8 and 7-1/2 if they are holding tight like when you are hunting thick cover.

I can hear their defense now, “Sir or Ma’am, clearly we are Glamping, not Camping as the sign indicates. See we even have a box of wine!” In Idaho, there was a saddle we used to hunt that the elk would use to travel from the sage brush back into the timber at first light and one year I approached it, on foot, from down wind on a closed logging road and I caught the scent of Old Spice. Came around the bend to find a hunting camp right in the saddle. So many things wrong with that. Maybe these folks rolled in after dark and didn’t see the sign or maybe they are entitled and think they are above the law. This is a great post to raise awareness and make people think about where they camp.

Those make great great targets! Someone will take em for sure. Thank you for not leaving them out there. Cheers to packing out more than you went in with.

Haircut for a Buck or is it a Buck for a Haircut?
HorseHunter replied to Outdoor Writer's topic in The Campfire
Oh Deer! Nice buck, what do you think 5 or 6 years old? -
I bought my mdl 70 new in the early nineties it had the BOSS system and that Mauser action everyone likes. One upgrade I did beyond the trigger was the classic precision fit limbsaver pad. They claim that it reduces recoil by 70% and even if that is complete hogwash and only lessened it by half their claims, a 35% reduction is money well spent. I love shooting my 300 and even my kids fight over it (my boys are over 6’1” just to clarify) but they have been shooting it for years. It’s a sweet shooting rifle. Good luck!

Best spot to go shooting skeet and handguns after work?
HorseHunter replied to PhxDT's topic in The Campfire
Now if the request was the best place to shoot skeet WITH handguns, that would be awesome! Except the current ammo shortage prohibits me in taking part for now...... -
Looking for a company to work on an overhead crane
HorseHunter replied to PRDATR's topic in The Campfire
When you say service I assume you mean it doesn’t work and not that you are trying to get some preventative maintenance done. If you can narrow the problem/issue down like a capacitor (preventing from turning on) or does it turn on and not lift (issue with gears). You can target your search for competent service pros. Instead of searching for Overhead crane repair you could check out an electric motor repair shop. Also you can look for Millwrights in the area. Those guys are generally pretty handy. Hope that helps a bit. -
Field & Stream and Outdoor Life Maybe No longer
HorseHunter replied to Outdoor Writer's topic in The Campfire
I guess my years of $9.99 annual paid subscriptions made them an attractive target for an equity fund buy out. If they truly go out of print that would be par for the course in 2020. -
https://www.monex.com/silver-prices/ So I guess you have to figure if the rarity/condition of the coin exceeds the value of the material it’s made from?

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Thanks for sharing.
