Sheriff Joe
GodIsGood replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Please keep doing what you're doing Manny & Joe! 30yrs ago my father was a sherrif in MCC's mounted posse & I was proud of his contribution. I watch and read with disgust at the resistance y'all get from the media and from spineless elected officials. I feel badly for the plight of hispanic folk who only want to make a living - but if MX sucks so much, then they should over throw their government or become southern states of the United States. We may have a butt load of our problems, but MX minus its rampant corruption would be an AWESOME country with vast untapped resources. The "fear factor" to Joe's high-profile enforcement is the impact to business that rely [perhaps heavily] on hispanic shoppers or workers. Let's not forget that if you boot out 40MM people who did not come here legally, those 40MM people still shopped for necessities and nice-ities [and paid taxes on sales], rented or bought homes and cars, generated revenue for businesses... while our economy is in a tail spin - the micro and macro impact of 40mm people leaving is a swift kick in the crotchal-region. I know it has hit my part of the Valley it's tough and necessary to resist getting prejudice about illegal immigrants - except for thems that commit crimes. I dont think we should deport the criminals until they have served a looooooooooooooong time on the border building the fence to keep them out! my .02 -

As a small business owner myself, I hope nothing but the best for your family & your business. I've been very fortunate in my career, having already survived 3 lay-offs in the past 15 years, but I also recognize that that's what it was - good fortune. Ive seen plenty of people who were smarter & more experienced then me walk. Guess they didn't have my great people skills. Matt S. You're okay by me Matt - I shouldnt have been curt with you earlier. Maybe we meet up some time as i pass thru Superior for hunting a few times o year. Best regards, Kurt -

We all get a little passionate about politics and religion - so I let your joyful comments about my "pending bankruptcy" go... but today they announced on MSNCB that STAGflation has reached the highest level in 33 YEARS - thanks to the cost of energy and food. Not so much a spike, but an ugly reality that may not affect a community that revolves around an in-demand commodity like copper, but for the rest of us, it is very symbiotic. If Bob-the-Builder gets laid off, he cannot buy non-essentials and may not even be able to afford necessities and has to rely on tax-payer relief [that we all pay for], the shops he formerly frequented suffer with declining sales and let people go... each person laid-off has a disparaging story that he or she cannot help but share - and everyone who hears thinks they too should stop spending and squirrel-away some nuts... thus the economy goes into a serious tail spin. I read the jobless claims [more tax-payer support] rose by 80,000 men and women - they'll probably be looking at bankruptcy too. Like CnS suggested - a little humility and humanity goes a long way... after all, we're all just here[CwT] to be [good]sportsman, eh? -
For speed and true arrow flight I moved from WB to a QAD Ultra hunter - chose that one because it held the arrow secure until it was ready for flight - switched on the advice of fellas I trust out at Archery Headquarters to Trophy Ridge drop zones - and like them very much. I'm sure their others that are as good or perhaps better, and I do miss how the QAD holds the arrow. Best bet is to buy a used one from board members and try it out - if you like it, stop looking and just become deadly with what ya got!

Unfortunately Lark, the election outcome and the aftermath will have everything to do with race and the liberal media bias. Doesnt much matter how experienced Obama is[nt], he has already won the alligance of most every person of color, and every clueless MTV & MySpace-watching young person in this country. They have no idea [and dont much care] how far down the darkside this creep will take us - because he's been anointed by the media. One of the long-lasting bi-products of this election battle will be to reignite the tension or full-on battle between races - if he doesnt win, be-that Billary using super delegits to "diss"enfranchise his people, or McLame stomping him because a national alarm clock wakes people to their senses - either way they've been "diss'd" by whitey - yet again. Honestly, the only colors that matter to me in an election are TRUE red-white-blue and the green necessary to move our economic machine. God help us - literally -
I really my Remington Nitro Turkeys 6-shot, but I dont know ifin they come in 3". I dropped my bird last year at over 45yrds and he didnt hardly move from the impact point. Also sitting on a box of Fed Premium Mag-Shok... I purchased both types based on 1300 FPS muzz vel. Good luck and have fun CnS! Heard TX bird hunting is awesome!

I saw a black rattlesnake coiled in "attack mode" and squared-off against a Kaibab squirrel in the middle of a busy forest service road near Munds Park. The squirrel could have bailed in any one of 350 degree directions, but for some inexplicable reason - just stood up to the snake within about 12-18"s. He scampered off after our truck stopped a yards away. Perhaps he was trying out for the next Geico commercial?

Now I dont care who ya'ar - that's funny

Hi Ron - I spose re-closure is possible, but the muley I ventilated had a very small exit wound that was closed by a lung bubble, and with a mostly-closed chest cavity the stinker ran a country mile - down hill of course. The coues I whacked lost a fist-size piece of lung that was ejected from his chest at the impact point. The muley in UT was my first and last experience with spits - not to say I gave them much of a chance - just really like how the 2-blade rage works. Glad you've had good luck with the spits!
-
Took my first coues buck with a two-blade rage last summer - it did MASSIVE damage and delivered a quick kill. Having previously used spitfires that did not open - I am a BIG fan of Rage blades!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I recall from my econ classes, inflation & the unemployment rate usually move opposite one another do to exactly what you said: people stop spending. The law of supply & demand shows that when demand for a certain good drops, so does the price, hence a bunch of people getting laid off might cause havoc in the stalk market, but for those of use with cash reserves who manage to hold on to our good-paying jobs, we'll be able to purchase more goods for our dollar. The u.s. dollar will drop in relationship to the Euro & the UK pound (big surprise) in relationship to the GDP & as a result of our "instability", but will actually end of having high purchasing power in our domestic markets, in the hands of the people that still have money to spend. GARSH! I wish I had been one thems with a good job and savings - so I could invest in stalk market now while the prices are so low... but as I pump money into my own business month after month - after years of fruitful and predictable revenue growth - one begins to wonder how long it will take for inflationary costs of necessities to overtake the weak demand for non-essentials. Decreased demand for iPods or GPS's will prompt their producers to lower their prices to try to stimulate sales, but oil, energy and corn costs touch many essentials we cannot live without - if only due to the delivery costs skyrocketing - I wont get excited as prices on non-essentials drop, but when food, fuel, energy... all cost significantly more - that's the inflation that is affecting my business and the lives of thems I employ and those about to be laid off. -

Gino's right when predicting a period of suffering - not matter what nor who. Once folks lose confidence in the economy and stop spending to squirrel away their nuts - then people who relied on their spending get laid off, unemployment goes up, the gas companies and oil-producing companies KNOW they have us by the short hairs - so inflation is bound to continue to rise. But demoncrats think we can RAISE taxes, keep more money out of everyone's pockets and things will get better - remember they are repealing the Bush tax-cuts. I like the "McLame" name... but I had heard a rumor floated on talk radio that he no intentions of seeking a second term even ifin the Republicans wanted him. If he picked someone with economy-moxy, the Republicans could retain the executive branch and maybe would only be stuck with 4years of his decrep1d keester Still feel there is a war to fought [notice I didnt say WON] because the current war on terrorism is a clash of religious ideology that wont be solved until JC returns to sort-out His sheep, and because of that reality I wouldnt mind having McLame in the Commander-in-chief seat. Notice how our counter-terrorism efforts no longer have the ability to listen-in on our enemies without a warrant? Thank the Lib's and ACLU for making it easier to be a terrorist or kill Americans. My feeling is that if Big Brother accidentally listens-in on a cell phone call of me talking dirty to my wife - HAVE AT! ... but the folks who might be dealing dope or conducting illegal activities... OH NO! DONT LISTEN TO MY CALLS!!! McLame wont stand for the that kind of crap! Billery is toast... now that the word is out about her taxes, $109,000,000 made since Bill left office, how is she gonna connect with the little people she claims to represent??? Also, we could be on the verge of a racial revolution because any way Billary or McLame were to beat Barak Husien O - it's gonna "diss"enfranchise the vast majority of persons of color - even though most of them have no clue how inexperienced, unprepared, clueless and dangerous he is. And dont get me wrong, I could care less about the color of our leader's skin - but it's character that counts, and the count for Obama is ZERO. -

It always amazes me that men I have met and thought I knew, some who have served in the Marines, would abstain from voting at all - because they arent thrilled with any of the available candidates. I dont believe that reason at all! More often I believe they use that excuse to cover for laziness - being a political slug and a part of the problem - not the solution. When were we thrilled with any of the presidential candidates? The best available people on either side are too smart to run because of the YEARS of character assassinations and bi-partisan bickering they will endure. Not since Reagan or perhaps even including him have we had a candidate to be excited about. The closest thing to a "straight-up regular guy" running was Mike Huckabee the zealot who released WAY too many violent offenders as gov, or Bill Richardson, tonk anchor baby from NM. But by refusing to vote, regardless of your party, your beliefs, or your perception of whether your vote is gonna make a difference - you HAVE cast a vote... by not adding your support to the "LEAST WORST" candidate, you ensure the "ABSOLUTE WORST" is gonna prevail. I have even heard conservatives say " let the demoncrats have it all - they will run this country so far into the ground that a Republican revolution will rise from ashes" maybe.... but only after a decade or more of suffering - where we seem to already be headed. Complacency coupled with the media bias is killing this country! Win or lose - if you're not going to vote you should move to France where SURRENDER and capitulation is their legacy. -

Way to go Tommy! Awesome buckage & good story. Appreciate the pics and details on the locals - sound like good people. You didnt take what's his name from our NM elk hunt? CM -
I took shot one last week from my treestand - mostly for therapy - because I was only seeing spikes n does. As I was taking him off the mountain at dark, a pod of them were trying to avoid me by escaping down the same trail.... they finally scrambled into trees on either side of the trail and kept snarling and snorting at me. I figured I must have whacked a close friend or relative of theirs and was actually nervous they were gonna bum-rush me. I counted 12, and the trees they occupied were only 3-5 on either side of the trail. YIKES! Gonna have the taxidermist mount it with a piece of camo cloth in its teeth! PS I heard from someone they are not indiginous to AZ... that Walt Disney shot a movie here in AZ decades ago and released a bunch of them after they shot the movie - they multiply like rats!

Looking at getting a hand gun
GodIsGood replied to IHunt2live's topic in Handgun Hunting for Coues Deer
my .02.... not comfortable carrying any auto on a hunt in the suck - even though i own quality autos including sig, glock, kimber and colts... wouldnt want to bet my life on a jam. revolvers are best for hunting in my opinion, and if I am in an area that has the threat of bear - i carry a Ruger Vaquero .45 long colt with corbon high velocity ammo. from what i've been told - they have even more knock-down energy than a .44mag... and the LAST thing i want is to piss off a bear. -
Not gonna shed tears for ya Gino - not when I have to beg and sneak to get permission from my wife to go scout/hunt. I read your "carp" post and with a beautiful and healthy family that ALL appear to love to hunt - sounds like you're set for life [iMHO]. Taking 07 off your record-track will make you try harder and appreciate 08 that much more - spoken like a true rookie! Happy 08 to all - make it a great year and I'm gonna do more to tend to thems who cannot tend to their own needs - we should all try
