As usual, when I follow BowSniper into the field to try something new, there are longterm financial repercussions... hunting dove with my boy - NO EXCEPTION! My shotguns are too big or have all been converter to tactic-cool defense weapons - so ifin you have shorter stock, pump-action bird blaster in .16 or .20 gauge - shoot me a note to aamcokurt at yahoo dot com or send a pm. thanks BS gh

Ifin' you're gonna make a blind out of natural material - best to give the critters plenty of time to get used to it. I have seen coues that consistently visit a tree stand of mine get very uncomfortable or avoid the spot completely because I made the mistake of disturbing, trimming or removing a major branch or fallen tree in a spot they frequent. somehow they just know the terrain has been disturbed and that spells DANGER to them. my .02

What a Joke.......

How do you 'spose Biden is gonna fair against Palin? Thus far she has been as sharp as a knife, cutting into the alleged lead BO has over McCain. If Biden attacks - he'll appear to be beating up on a woman. If he's kind and courteous - he'll be viewed as wuss. I have never been a McCain fan - mostly cuz he's seemed to willing to reach across to the Demoncrats - but he may be exactly what this country needs. I see now and agree that he has devoted nearly all of his adult life to protecting and serving our country... not from a "Hey, look at me!" perspective like pin-prick purple heart Kerry, but a deep devotion to selflessness. If we had run and won with someone MORE right-winged and conservative - the liberal media and elected lefties would have spent the next 4yrs doing nothing except fighting any reform. I think McCain has the sack to call them out when they are blocking progress. Bush shoulda done it, but got tired ducking liberal bullets and torpedoes. -
I have learned to love tree stand hunting from Bowsniper Mark! The ability to see soooooo much further and have additional reaction time because you're higher, plus your scent is less of a factor. Plus it's so amazing to watch non-target critters going about the their bidness beneath you - undetected for hours on-end sometimes - nature ROCKS! BUT, for cold or crummy weather, nothing beats a quality, well-placed ground blind! Or ifin you have a younglin or spouse with you - gotta go GB I have an elk tag and gonna set up a TS and GB, so I can escape to the GB when it's too cold to tolerate.

When confronted at close range by a bear in 6a who was interested in the cow-calling I was doing, i found that soiling myself really spoiled his interest - even more than my man-screams. After phoning in my "g'byes, I'm about to be eaten by a bear" to my spouse, I threw my cell phone at him - had it been an iPhone, he might have been satisfied. I am always packing now! glad you're alright - makes an otherwise dull time into a helluva story!

ADA Hunting Clinic
GodIsGood replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Not to be confused with the ADAA - American Dodgeball Association of America odd choice of time to hold the clinic - otherwise I'd attend too -
Study the wind pattern very carefully! and set up HIGH 'nuff that your scent will drift over their heads ifin the winds shift. make sure you have 'nuff branches to not have a bulbous silloette AND nuff shade to be comfortable during the heat of the day. step-off or range-find your shooting distance HORIZONTALLY, unless your range-finder automatically compensates for angle-shots, which WILL cause you to shoot over the top of your prey. Best of luck and NEVER-NEVER be untethered or outside your safety harness!!

Has anyone pondered the notion that he actually GROWS them in a hyperbolic chamber like Michael Jackson and his chimps? Whenst they have grown gi-normous eating his own recipe of Purina Monster Buck Chow, his posse takes them into the woods, ties them to a tree so he can stick 'em. Just a thought - it could happen

Getting to treestand......unscented
GodIsGood replied to zeddro's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Eat only popcorn, corn flakes and corn chips - that way when you break wind the deer will be drawn TO you! Actually, I was taught to do just what the Rabbit says - leave early 'nuff that you dont have to bust a big sweat and change into dry scent-lok clothes at your stand, clean up with field wipes, zip lock the stinky stuff and best of luck to all next week! -
I dont think Osama will pick Hillary - only because there aint much a Clinton wouldnt do to take back the White House... I do think he'll choose someone about his same age so he doesnt appear to be brining in a fatherly-figure to augment his lack of experience or wisdom... he'll have a hard time finding someone with less experience, including my 9yr old son. He'll need someone white and conservative. I wish McCain would pick Romney - 'cuz he's a successful businessman, family man and would take sensible action to get the economy on-track and wouldnt take any backward steps towards fighting Islamo-fascism. Knowing McCain he'll probably pick someone non-threatening, rather milk-toast instead of stud. He is so old and in crummy health, he OUGHT to [but wont] pick a person who is qualified to lead should he croak or become too sick. Remember, whoever takes the White House will be appointing the next 2-4 Supreme Court Judges!!!

Vice President Choices
GodIsGood replied to GodIsGood's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
dont give up on America DB! If we get complacent and let Islam and socialism get a toe-hold, it will take an armed revolution to set things straight again. Hate to say it, but McCain is so old and in such crummy health - you will be voting for his Veep and his hotty wife anyway! -
Bass wrote: "Does the rifleings in the judge make the buckshot throw a "doughnut" pattern?" Sorry Bass, I have no clue. Just shot the weapon for the first time recently on a scouting mission with my son, and only shot a few random targets like cans and bottles - just TEARS up anything in its path - which is really the idea of defense. I'm told it is called a JUDGE because a sitting circuit court judge designed it for conceal-carry protection in his own court room. Rather than a stacked clip in a semi-auto to stop a homicidal defendant - the Judge wanted an easy-to-carry, hard-to-miss option that could put down an aggressor without the need for careful target acquisition. it's WAY FUN to shoot too!

DesertBull Wrote: "I think McCain is a closet liberal, but he is the lesser of two evils" and he is dead-on. Have y'all given much thought to just how FrankenFace got to be the GOP's best boy? This sleeper who came outta no where to take the nomination??? he our home state hero and I voted for Romney - despite my struggles with his religious convictions - he's still a good man, a smart man, a business man! But dont you think that the Democrats finally mobilized their GET OUT AND VOTE machine the way the GOP did 8yrs ago and convinced hundreds of thousands of liberals to vote for McCain - JUST BE A SPOILER? I honestly think Lieberman would be a good choice - because if we have two decent and wise Americans who ride closer to the middle but have conservative values leaning towards the right - our government will spend considerably less time fighting because of the battle of extreme left vs extreme right. Face it guys, Elvis and Reagan are NOT coming back! -
I've carried all sorts of firearms and revolvers are the only way to go IMO. That one time your semi-auto decides to jam you dont want to be trying to convince a bear [or that toothless fella from Deliverance] not to have you for a snack! I really like my Taurus Judge! I load it with an assortment of cowboy long Colt .45's and 00-buckshot .410 shotgun shells. Those buckshot shells RIP the b'jeapers out of anything in their path, and if you're in low light or high stress - you dont have to be deadnuts accurate. FYI - If Osama gets to be President, the Taurus Judge is first on the DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE list to be banned.

In addition to NOT saving the camera, the pepper spray devices will jack-up your honey hole for a period of time - maybe ruin it for your hunt. Cant you engineer-types come up with a small power source, a coil, and few wires to make it a SHOCKING experience to try and boost a camera?

Looks like you're up Sh_t Creek - if you expect that truck to get you home!

This one didnt appreciate the paparatcci - so he mooned the camera! BTW Sundevil79 "I saw a pack or herd or family or group or whatever you call a bunch of them together..." I call them a menacing fury mob! Do your hunting area a favor - ventilate one!

With as much posting as I've been reading about theft of gear left in forest, I was curious ifin' this cable locking technique is useful, innovative or ifin' anyone does things differently. Lemme know your thoughts & thanks. this seems cheap and easy to set-up/take-down, but a difficult to defeat:

WHY USE EXPANDED/PERFORATED METAL? TO CUT DOWN ON PACK-IN WEIGHT? -
Cowards Caught on Camera!
GodIsGood replied to cramerhunts's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
wasnt saying nor suggesting I agree with their actions Phil - far from it. I have had gear jacked from a spot I figured was "mine"... but it wasnt mine, it was national forest and all I'm saying is dont leave anything that isnt hidden, fortified nor insured. The truck comparison isnt really apples-apples, because it is a-whole 'nuther level of a-hole that would steal a truck... but an a-hole, none-the-less. sorry you got jacked and hope it doesnt happen to any of the rest of us either... but then again, I'm still hoping my hair will migrate off my back and up north onto my head where it belongs! -

It sickens me when someone messes with your stuff in the wild, but ifin' it's LEFT in the public woods - shouldn't we each accept the reality that we are playing the odds that whomever might encounter our stuff on public property is within their "rights" to justify its theft because it has been "abandoned" in a publicly-owned area and therefore available for removal as litter [aka theft]? I say HIDE AND FORTIFY... and if you know you're in among thieving turds - then booby trap! -
He is a beaut RimHunter! Best of luck on your hunt. Those newer Wildviews take decent pics too. Anybody pick up some of their entry-level cams on close-out sale a WallyWorld? They are all GONE GONE GONE at only $25 a pop! Thanks Bowsniper for hooking a brother up!
