Well my second oldest son Kade is defintely on a roll this year. He will be seventeen the end of Sept and so far this year has harvested his Javelina with his bow, Turkey with shotgun, and just a couple of weeks ago he harvested a New Mexico Antelope with his bow. Spot and stalk no less. To top this off he has two more deer tags to go. One in the burros and one in Arizona. Here is a picture of his New Mexico Antelope.

That would be him. Both of his brothers (18 and 8) have that same love of the outdoors. I don't think it gets much better then having hunting buddies like them.

2006-2007 Burro mountain archery buck
Rharris replied to crazyaboutcoues's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Not to disappoint those of you that think this buck was photo shopped, but its the real McCoy. This buck gross scores 117 2/8. he was harvested with bow and arrow and it was all caught on film. As far as the pose, their is nothing holding that bucks head up, we plan on doing some "How To" segments in our videos and "posing your game animal" will be one of them. Congratulations to Roger Roan on a once in a lifetime Coues buck. -
Happy Birthday Scott!!

A big Happy Birthday to you Scott. You should have went with me shed hunting instead of working on the property. I hear you on the running, if we don't stay with it we won't keep up with the boys. RHarris -

I am looking for an Airedale pup for my son for Christmas. If any of you breed or have connections please contact me. It doesn't necessarily have to be a papered dog either. Thanks! Rharris

Check Out the Kifaru Packs. Mine (Long Hunter) has a seat that opens up on the back of my pack providing not only a good seat but a back rest as well. Rharris

Well my son kade was finally able to connect on one of New Mexico's fine mule deer bucks. We hunted this area for the last two consecutive years alway seeing some great bucks but just not being able to bring it all together. Last year he was only able to hunt 1 1/2 days due to highschool basketball only two end up not palying due to knee problems. This year he decided to focus on the hunt knowing his odds as a non-resident to draw this tag again were pretty slim. We scouted our favorite mule deer area and found numerous bucks (some coues) but know real brusiers laike we had seen in the past. Opening morning found us walking into our glassing hill about 1 hour before daylight. We glassed up six bucks two of which were four points. Kade harvested this buck with his 7mm-08, handloaded 140gr nosler partitions. My younest son Toby (7) was with us as well despite a horrendous cough. He was not going to miss out on his brothers hunt. It took two long pack trips to get this deer back to our vehicles and Toby made each and every trip. Congratulations Kade! Now lets get our Arizona Coues!

Your right Scott what a problem to have! My middle son and I drew 27/28 December whitetail. He also drew the Burros youth rifle deer hunt. Although we didn't pull down any elk tags we are pretty stoked with the tags in hand. RHarris

I have been attending this shoot for five years now and we (my family) has a blast everytime. Looking forward to next year. Red Rabbit if you go next year give a heads up and we will have to make some introductions!

Jim, I would be very interested in your Llamas, i currently have three, yet only one is old enough to pack. I raised the other two from a female I had that recently passed away. I had two other packers that died of old age over the last couple of years as well. So its left me a little short on good packers.Send me an e-mail to: harris@vtc.net with your phone # and a good time to call you, Thanks! Ralph Harris

Here is a recent e-mail I sent Mr Ordway. Leonard: So far every meeting has had an over whelming % of hunters that are against the proposed changes to the Elk, Coues, Javelina, and Lion hunt proposals. What is it going to take to get you and the commission to see we (the majority) do not want our wildlife managed for quantity but quality? If I am not mistaken we are the ones paying for Arizona?s wildlife management. We should be the ones to have the final say not some executive committee. Put the question out to us its real simple. Do we want quantity or quality? QUALITY is the answer that you are hearing at every public meeting. You have WM?s that are very frustrated and moral is low because you are not allowing them to do the job that they went to school for. You hand down an assignment ?create hunter opportunity? Instead of assessing sound biological information. This is not about negotiating, give the power back to the WM?s and the individuals who are paying the bills (hunters and fisherman). Your job is to manage the direction we give. If we ask for changes you direct these questions to the WM?s they in turn research it based on the direction of QUALITY, if the proposal is going to effect the quality of our wildlife it gets presented back to the public and we move on. You must have one main objective in order to show continual improvement in a company or business. QUALITY should be the G and F?s objective. Arizona is growing at an alarming rate: If you keep going in the direction you are proposing where will it end? Let?s stop right now and make a stance. We want our wildlife managed for QUALITY. Everyone needs to be honest with themselves and understand that this means drawing a tag is always going to be tough. But when they do draw it will be a real quality experience. Hunter recruitment is not an issue. When draw rates are in the teens or single digits you cannot point at recruitment. If we focused our efforts on predator management, habitat improvement (controlled burns) and poaching we can increase permits in time. These are all attached to QUALITY. I could go on and on Leonard but this in a nut shell is my stance as well as many others in my area. Please take the direction the majority is giving our department and remove these proposed changes from the department?s agenda. Sincerely Ralph Harris I have created a petition that I would like to offer to any and all of you to print and circulate. If each of us does this even within our own circles it could prove benefical to our cause. It essentially states that those that sign are opposed to all proposed hunt changes. My only problem is I don't know how to attach it to this so all of you can print it to circulate. If someone can help me e-mail me at: harris@vtc.net. There are several other sites that it should get posted on as well. Amanda can you help?

Say goodbye to Dec. coues hunts.
Rharris replied to Redbeard's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Hang in there guys, I have drafted a petition that I hope to get on here tomorrow some time. If you support the petition you can print this petition and get it circulated in your areas then we will present these signatures in April to the commission. I think it is one more avenue we need to pursue in order to stop this madness. We still need to make all the other meetings but the big one is in April. Be sure and talk to every hunting aquantance you know and get them to understand the importance of being heard. RH -
Say goodbye to Dec. coues hunts.
Rharris replied to Redbeard's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
So which Meeting is going to be "the" meeting where we get our opinion out to the Commission. Is it this one this weekend or the one they usually have in April. I hear of discussions going on beyond this weekend so I am just wondering. If we have time to get a petition together then lets do it. All it needs to have is the G and F proposals summmarized and the statement saying all those that sign this petition are completely opposed. Am I write? RH
