    December 30th buck

You are the man. Great looking buck. Five shots for the price of one. Way to ventilate him. Congratulations. Bob
  2. Wayne congratulations on a really impressive deer. Please forgive me on that 8 year old crack, that was from extreme jealousy. Plus that erroneous information on where you killed that animal was passed along with the original Email I recieved that was at least 3rd or 4th party from your father. On that e-mail someone wrote that you were 10 and another person wrote falsely about where you took it. My point was not to insinuate that anything improper was done or shooting the buck was easy, but to point out that trophy bucks can sometimes be right in front of our nose. Still I should not of passed along info from emails when I don't know the source and I am embarrassed for doing so.(I guess I might have to change my screen name to 'Gossip Hound'.) Wayne if you could do me a favor and start a brand new post with a little story of your hunt with some more pictures I know all the guys and gals on the site would appreciate it. Egg on my Face, Bob p.s. Shoot a bigger one next year!

What kind of gas mileage does this truck get. Bob
  4. Dan, It is not that the kids family did not actually want the picture posted. I didn't specifically have permission because I don't know the family. I got it from a friend of a friend of their's. I feel it is good internet etiquette not to post pictures that are not your property especially if there is minors involved. What tines did I feel is ok. What a Buck.. Corrected and apologize. Bob
  5. I have a picture of the 119 on my computer, but i am not going to post it because I don't have permission and the young man who shot it looks to be about 8 years old. It is a very impressive deer. The poor kid is ruined for life. Bob
  6. Does anyone have tips on removing foxtails and burrs from your fleece. I have a nice pull over that is completely covered. It will take me hours to pluck out each individual one. Help! Bob
  7. Your passion is contagious. I am reading up on the whitetail subspecies. Seems many of them are endangered and don't have a viable population to hunt. Also there is controversy over which are trully subspecies. Can scientist ever agree on anything. Bill do you know if it is possible to hunt any of the Central American deer? I might be there this summer and well you know. There is always time for a day or two of hunting.
  8. Wow guys, who needs Tap's tips with this wealth of great knowledge. Thanks for all the responses. I actually did tip 4 from Headache. I felt more concealed with the 3d look. Now I have a new question. How do you get rid of a nasty rash? Bob

    First Coues for George!

Jim, I see. You were east of the Santa Ritas and had alot of ambient light once the sun went down. Nice photos for quickies. That first one should be in a magazine. Rack framing your clients face. Beautiful light. Well posed. The client looks great. Good example for others. I am going to steal this set up. All I need is a wide 95 inch buck. Real nice picture. Those ears are huge! Bob
  10. Bill, I meant no disrespect to all the unappreciated subspecies of Whitetail deer. Heck I would like to whack one of each. Do you hunt the Hilton Head subspecies with a 4-iron? . Going back to the original question. I think Charlie's intent was to get info on how The big Whitetail hunting compared with the little coues. I don't think he would get much of a response if he was more exact in his language and posed a question like, "Does the Virginianus couesi act like the Virginianus virginianus?" Bob

    First Coues for George!

George congratulations on your beautiful buck! Jim I have a photography question. How did you get the yellowish sunset light in the first picture where in the second picyure you have more of a normal mid-day sharp picture? Bob

    BUGS

They taste great in tacos. Bob
  14. Bill, Although not scientifically correct. I think myself and most people on this site would define Eastern Whitetail as the deer that reside east of the Rockies. I know there are( non-coues) whitetail west of the rockies, but hunters and record books lump whitetails into two basic catagorys. The Big Ones (Whitetails or Eastern Whitetails) and The Little Ones (coues). Where is there whitetails west of us? Bob
  15. Charlie, The coues will react nearly the same as their Eastern cousin. The reason most people don't use the Eastern deer methods out here is that the deer density is much lower when compared to the eastern states, so waiting a scrape trail or rattling ect would work in my opinion, but due to the realitively low deer density you may wait many hours and many days without seeing anything. This is why many people use the methods Mike talked about. That being said I know an Old midwest farm boy that arrows a trophy buck every year. He uses trails to water sources. Note he doesn't set up directly on water, but uses his Eastern whitetail knowledge to place a stand 200 yards down wind from a water hole on trails. Of coarse i have tried this myself with absolutely no success. Like Mike, I glass. Bob

    A great hunt.

Phil, Congratulations, There is nothing more satisfying then tagging out on a buck that you have stalked over numerous seasons. A deer that has a name. "High Rack" will be your favorite buck for years to come. Congratulations again, Bob
