The rackulator, I am sure you can roll that thing until you get the score you want. Bob

I am suprised those evil HOYT freaks have not chimed in yet on this topic. Maybe they have given up their inferior bows. Mathews rule. Bob

Coues'N' Sheep, Weren't you the guy looking for tips on new units to hunt. Aren't we getting a little greedy? Save some deer for the rest of us. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...?showtopic=5118 Matty's 281, I am interested in how this bow shoots. That is really fast. Forgivability factors would be my concern with such a short bow with a really short brace height. One thing that I think should be number one in choosing a bow is all the factors that go in to shooting a bow before you release the arrow. How does it pull back. Is it smooth or are there dips and valleys? Does it feel stable under load? Does it have a solid wall? All these things combined with the noise and vibration post shot are important in making a pleasent shooting experience. Having a bow that is fun and easy to shoot is more important then fast numbers. It has been my experience that there is a trade off between "Fun Pleasent shooter" and an "extremely fast shooter". Bob

I like to e scout. Hunters say they hate e scouters and like keeping their spots secret, but deep down they can't help themselves. if they find a good spot, they are really dying to share it with people. it is hard keeping secrets. Plus everyone wants to show off a little. In addition hunters with great spots always thinks they can find a better one , so what would be the problem in telling just one person.... Bob

Bobby, Congratulations on a beautiful buck. I was getting play by play from Martin, so I know the tremendous amount of effort you put into this buck. I can see it was worth it. What a nice deer. Is your wife getting the Lexus SUV we were talking about at the NRA dinner? Just kidding. Hope she doesn't read this. Congratulations again.

I don't remember any problems with the first internet draw service. The one in Nevada. Did they get too expensive? Bob -
The Journey Into Mexico! (start to finish)
bobbyo replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
This is direct from BC scoring and I believe is not written very clearly. It is easy to see why there is confusion over this. What would you do if you had a buck with a brow tine and a main beam only. Oh by the way. Congratulations on some great bucks. As always the pictures are professional quality. Congratulations again. Bob -
I am with Tyson and LittleBear. Doing the right thing was wrong. How could this miner find the buck unless it expired right in the pit. The only logical way is that by asking permission. The hunter told the thief where to find his trophy. "Can I look for the dying monster buck that went over your north fence." "no" says minerman, as he goes out the door to buy a tag. I feel the guy should forget about G+F, the best they will do is confiscate the rack from the miner and keep it for themselves as evidence. If I was in this situation I would start with The lowest level phelp dodge executive and work my way up to the CEO. Some of them might even be hunters and will certainly sympathise. PD is publicly traded and to them image is everything. If the theif is an employee they might be able to put pressure on the miner to return the buck. Just my two cents, Bob

TJ, I use to have a sonoran also. I would never say anything bad about them. The Sonaran is a quality sight and to me it is a huge plus that it is made by some local guys. That being said I really love the adjustability of my new sight. As far as your question on my sight there is a wing nut that tightens it down. It has not moved yet from knocking it around on about 4 weekends of hunting. I did forget to move the slider back to zero after shooting it in the river and sadly for my tree above the target in my backyard it took me two shots to realize this. Bob

Who says you need to be hunting to have a sight that shoots out to 100 yards. It is alot of fun and good exercise to take long distance shots. Me and my bow shooting buddy(non hunter) throw arrows out to 130 yards at targets. My sight only goes out to 110 so it is just a hold over and a guess. Sure we miss the target alot, but we shoot in a sandy river bottom and hardley ever break arrows. Plus imagine back and forth 10 to 15 times from a 100 yards in a sandy river bottom. You get tired! I would never shoot at an animal past my limitations, but it is great fun shooting targets at longer ranges. Younghunter let me reiterate that you should check out the slider/multi pin sights. You get the best of both worlds. Less clutter in your sight window and the ability to have a pin for long distance shooting. I have the one on top and like it.(cobra 3 I added two extra pins so mine has five). Randy Ulmer uses the second one(FuseNavigator) and I am thinking about getting the bottom one, (lethal weapon) ,but I am hedging because I hear the pin filliment rips out easily. A desert hunting no no. slider_sight.doc

Great Job Redman congratulations. Bob

Younghunter. You should check out the new hybrid sights. I just got one this year. It is a cobra 5 pin sidewinder sight, but it is on a slider sight mount. This means I can set my pins like a normal sight every 10 yards, but when shooting at longer distances I can move the sight to lines I mark on the slide. Which means I can move the pin from 60 to 100 yards more precisely. For example I can slide my bottom pin for exactly 85 yards and not have to look between pins and guesstamate. I use to have 8 pins and it was a task figuring out which pin goes where. too much clutter. I am convinced this is the type of sight most western bowhunters will have in two years. I know of two manufactures, but I am sure all will make them soon. Mine is made by cobra and I forget the exact name, but it will be on their websight. It retails for about $100. Another is called Lethal Weapon and sells for about $180. You should really look into these sights, because I believe regular sights are going to be obsolete. Bob

Tam, What everyone has said is right on. One thing to remember when walking to a new pool you should not skyline yourself. The fish can see you. For that particular stretch of river I would suggest floating baits, since there is a huge population of crawdads and they will attack your bait before the fish will if it is on the bottom. I like to use insects that i find by or in the river. Grasshoppers, helgamites, ect., but insects can be tricky to hook. I have had good luck using spinners as mentioned above. Bob

Tyson, Congratulations, what a beautiful buck. It is pretty cool that we have our choice of species here in Arizona. Got to love the bow seasons plus look at all the time you will have this fall to hunt for sheds. Bob -
Josh, That is incredible. It would be neat if you or Amanda could get pictures and permission to post all of these bucks and lay them out side by side. Title could be "2007year for deer in the record book." I can't wait to see the pictures myself. Bob

Incredible Andy. Beautiful deer. Looks like a neck, windpipe shot from the blood pattern. Did he stay facing you when you shot him? Bob
-
Did you bake it in the oven at 375 deg and baste it with a nice marinade? Bob

How many different 150- 160 inch bucks are there? This is absurd. Bob

Ernesto, That buck is unbelieveable how about those brow tines. Congratulations. Bob

Some items I found hunting

Hey griz are you sure you are not CHD. That sounds like CHD. Bob -
I don't want to know which bows make great archers shoot great. I want to know which bows make crummy archers shoot great. I don't think the Tournament title standings is going to help answer that question. Maybe we should find out which bows win in the novice division. The only thing about manufacters that we know for sure is that HOYT is pure evil. I think their next bow is going to be called 'Satan'. The newest in the Darth Vader line up. Bob

Desertbull I think that it is common practice with meat processors to batch meat for hamburger and sausage. They usually give you back a ratio compared to the weight of your animal. It is much easier for them to do it this way when they have alot of animals. Of coarse they should be up front with this. Bob
