Alex is that your real name? How about Alejandro, El Comandante of the death squads. Of coarse he would like you to camp at the Elkhorn. Nice box canyon. One way in no way out. Don't let these savages lure you in to their trap. Keep out of the southern units. There is plenty of deer in 22 and nice camping. Heck in 24 they shoot world records and give you directions in hunting magazines. Bob El Comandante Alejandro. "Hey hunters, don't listen to Roberto he is a pendejo. Come to the Elk Horn and we will have a real fiesta. You know esse it will be gooooodddd. You will like it and get to shoot de deer. Make sure you bring expensive ATVs and 4x4s. It is rough terrain. Bring lots of cerveza's and dinero Americano. Oh simone i almost forgot make sure you bring lots of Gueras. The Gueras love Alejandro. See you this fall esses."

I don't see what the problem is. 1. What difference does it make if the stand is abandond or not. You know the hole is seldom used. Are you making a natural blind or do you plan on setting up a pop up and leaving it? 2. I would set up a blind, but I would never leave my pop up. 3. first come first serve means in person. First person there has dibs. You can't dibs a spot by placing a stand, a ground blind, a tent ect. Example if he makes it to his stand before you make it to your blind then the spot is his and vice versa. Otherwise I could leave my lawn chairs all over every water hole and claim them. Would that be fair. 4. I think you are all right leaving your blind (You don't worry about it walking away) as long as you realize it does not give you any claim to the water hole If the stand dude beats you there. Bob

Wow! there is some specimens in there. So tell us where does he hunt? County? Unit? Coordinates? Clear directions please. Bob

I use the vane tecs myself. Stick on the arrow better than blazers and cheaper as well. I used 4 inch vanes for years as well. They both work. It just comes down to personal preference. Bob
-
I respectfully disagree. The two inch blazer type fletches are great at steering the low profile fixed blades and mechanicals. If you are using a zwicky or similar then 4" would be the mimnimum. Bob

What are you crazy. Hunting down south is a suicide mission. Bringing a pistol is a joke. What is a pistol going to do against a Mexican Death Squad armed with H+K 417 assault rifles. I guess the pistol would be useful. You could eat some lead, so the banditos will not have the pleasure of cutting your eyelids off and staking you to an anthill. Camping in groups is simply INSANE! Makes it easier for the death squad to find you. Then what happens? You are the guest of honor at a Columbian Necktie Party. Save Your Life. STAY OUT of the southern units. Bob

A world record will be set in Pima county in the next five years. Bob

Some questions first. You are saying the broadheads do not grouping at all right. One left, One high, one low ect. If your broadheads were grouping just not at the same point as your field tips then you would need broadhead tuning. If it is bad flying broadheads with no group then it could be a multiple of issues. Broadheads not aligned. Spine of arrow, Your bow is not tuned. slight fletch contact ect. If you gave us all the info about your setup we can probablly point you in the direction that you are having problems. and save a lot of time. Arrow and number: example axis 400. Weight you are pulling. speed of bow length of arrow. weight of broadhead. Type of rest. Type of fletching type of release Where are your broadheads hitting. is there a pattern? I suspect your bow is still not in tune or your arrow spine is not compatible. This is just a guess though. You need to get scientific. Things to try: 1.paper tune with broadheads. 2. bareshaft tune: hard to do for beginners, heck hard to do for anyone very time consuming. 3. Walk back method or French tuning. 4. Use more radical fletching or feathers. 5. Number all your arrows: You need to see if the broadhead in arrow #1 hits in the same spot consistently. If it does change the head to arrow #2 and see where it hits. Is it grouping ect. The reason for this is there are dud arrows and dud broadheads if you have one of each could get very frustrating. 6. Try different broadheads. 7. Buy expandables. Go rockets! Something else I just thought of make sure if you have a drop away it is clearing in time. Bob Ps first thing I would do is take that drop away off and put on the WB. That may solve the problem quickly. That is a no brainer why waste the time.

Scotty's right! It is dangerous going the speed limit. Bob

Nice mounts Matt! I do have to say those walls are not Red. They are Texas _______ _________ Red!You know like the bad musical starring BUrt Reynolds and Dolly Parton. Again nice mounts. Bob

Hey Scotty, Iwill see you there. I would like to introduce you to some people. I will be the good looking guy in a funny looking shirt. Bob P.S. Bring one of your three elephants.

Just a heads up. If you do not have a 40/ 60 yard range you could do just as good a tune at a shorter range. Even in most peoples back yard. I like the name. It is called the Modified French Method. First you sight in your bow at 3 yards. Move sight only. Once you are hitting a bullseye put a string on the arrow that hit a bullseye. Walk back to ten yards. shoot and adjust just like RRs post. shoot until you split the string. Then move back as far as you can and repeat. 15, 20 yards. This will tune your center shot nearly as well as at 60 yard walk back method. Bob
-
I tune my bow the other way. It is called the walk back method. Use 20 yard pin for 40 yard distance and if I have a big enough target at 60 yards to adjust center shot. I don't think it would work the opposite way because you are looking for minor off center imperfections that the longer distance brings out. Bob

Bill, Good economics lesson on the coming hyper inflation. One thing many people need to consider due to high unemployment and a devalued dollar where wages do not even come close to keeping up with inflation. So in essence we may all be on a relative fixed income. Bob

AGFD accused of "game farming" for bighorns
bobbyo replied to audsley's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Kind of ironic. The AGFD is accused of being game farmers? Well they must be the worst game farmers in the world. Aren't you suppose to increase your breeding stock when you have a farm. -
Amanda's coming back . Oh no . We better fix everything and clean up a little or we are all going to be in big trouble!

CnS, Two points I am certain I am wrong about my impression of your buddy. I have no idea what pressure there is to arrow a world record buck. I should take that into consideration before forming an impression of him. Doesn't Nate also warrant the same consideration? Second, you and others keep slipping in these innuendos that there is something tainted about Nate's buck. I highlighted an example in your quote. I have the up most respect for you. But it is wrong! It is wrong to keep perpetuating the shadow on this buck, that these little whispers are leaving. If you know facts of some impropriety come out with it. Otherwise, stop the rumor mongering, you are better than that! Bob

Wow, What the heck. I am a neutral reader. I know nothing about the article, the area, the deer or the hunt. I am going to say it straight: You Rim Guys are coming off like jealous a$$es. Your honey hole has been compromised? Welcome to the club. C+S your gracious hunting partner? Didn't he come off as a complete dick when he posted here the few times after his great buck was measured. Must I go to the archives? The few posts that I have read from NLA, even on this post, where he is getting hammered, have left me with a completely different picture than what you guys are portraying. I have some good hunting buddies that live in Rim country and they have told me the stories of this petty B.S. that goes on up there. I did not believe it, until I read this crap. Now I know why they hunt down here. Man, I am sure glad I am not a trophy hunter. If I ever get a hair up my butt to become one, I will run off this thread and read it, to rid me of those ridiculous thoughts. Bob

So all you have to do is put in and you get an early Kaibab tag? Are draw results out. This post has me confused. Bob

Well with my 777 i have to clean between every shot. Wow i have heard rumors about the stuff. It is really true? Is the velocity on the bullet the same as 777. Oh yea two pounds of 777 loose for sale! Bob

Sweet MuleyMan, Why not tell the coordinates. I plan on shooting an ancient goat in the junipers this year too. Lets compare notes. Bob

If this is instituted G+F will lose money big time. Not only will residents not buy two tags, but I believe many non residents will stop forking over the $200 dollar NR license fee when they realize that the Over the counter Archery back up plan is over. I think many NR pay the 200 dollar license fee to have a small chance of drawing a trophy ELK or antelope tag with the idea that if their not drawn they will come out for a trophy deer archery hunt. I know that is my strategy when I pay $70.00 dollars NR license fee in Utah. if i don't get drawn for my Antelope, I get a OTC deer tag for archery. I wish people would not post these rumors because it could give G+F bad ideas. They come up with enough of those on their own. Bob

Gee wiz. Man up and shoot fingers! Your name is Arizona White Bear. Use your paws. Loops are for sissy's. Don't let these she-men neuter you. Bob PS it is a good idea to learn how to tie them yourself it is easy after a few practice tries.. Make sure they are very tight and you will not need a peep tube. Tru nock is handy if you like slight nock adjustments for tuning purposes and they keep peep aligned also. Either way you will be happy. Just kidding about the paw stuff. Welcome to the sight.

The Claw: First time test Impressive.
bobbyo replied to bobbyo's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Red Rabbit. I predict murder. Pure murder. The claw is well made with good materials it will last a long time if taken care of. As far as price. I'm with Casey on this. It could be your $80 bipod, Your $80 bench rest for sighting in weapons. Heck you could use it to clean and make repairs on your rifle. It is a Gun vise. To Claw guys I did not mean to insinuate that you were making unethical equipment. It is a quality product that does what you say it will do. My comments were really to myself. I want to make sure that my kids know how to shoot a rifle properly. Heck I want them to experience missing a few times. I think if you make it too easy for this video game generation they will not appreciate success. Having failures in pursuit of your goals makes success sweeter. Gee I am describing every tag I ever had. As far as my shooting goes it really depends on the situation. At the range my nickname is "flinchy", so you can see I will be using the claw there. I am on a pretty good hot streak on live animals though, if we forget about the 15 shots I took at a 6 buck bachelor group in 2005. The first ten I was trying to hit them. The last five I was just trying to scare them because they didn't even lift their heads from feeding. Talk about being disrespected! Bob -
This is my two cents. i have nothing against any organization, but i am going to state the plain truth. We have too many hunting organiztions and hunters are being spread too thin. We need to consolidate our resources. Lets name A FEW clubs. ADA, ABA, AQA, AAF, MDF, DCA, AES , SCI, PVC. NATF, DU, ADBSS, AWF. I'M Sure, I AM MISSING PLENTY OF others. We have more sub groups then the French Parliament. We have no unified voice as hunters. We are basically a bunch of splinter groups concerned with our own pet projects. Divided we have no power and AZGF and legislature and Governor can pay no attention to hunters. Of coarse agreeing on the one voice is impossible without compromise and agreement. Is there a way we could come up with one encompassing organization that some how includes all the diverse interests of various organization to speak for all hunters. I have ideas, but really don't want to waste my breath. Really is there a way we can all come together. A consensus.Maybe a super meeting of all groups in Phoenix . Bob
