Nevada proposing to ban Trail Cameras

I like running cams as much as I like act silly hunting. Every time I go check them it's like Christmas, and checking them several times a year means Christmas comes once a month when I check them. However we do harvest many animals on the cams but that has to do with hunting ability. The cams just let us know where to hunt.

Fall hunt recommendations are up on G&F site

I noticed they made 13b rifle later than 13a rifle. It's always been the other way around. Wonder why?

    Huge cat on the Navajo?

I've been to the navajo several times actually. Turkey hunting and lion hunting. I just think people are stupid that think lions only eat big deer. Let alone 200 inch bucks. There may be a good number of 200 inchers there but doesn't mean that lion is chowing down on them every week. People have a bad image of lions eating big bucks every week. I promise I've seen more small game lion kills and small calf elk lion kills than deer kills. But don't let the facts ruin your good story about the big buck killing lion Bone 7 I could care less if the cat ate his own tail. I wasn't arguing ever about what he ate and I could care less if he ate little skunks only. I never said the buck ate multiple 200 inchers a year ever. I did say however that he probably ate several over his 10 years of cruising, that's 3600 diff days to eat and run into a big buck. That's all I was saying and coulple3600 plus nights out there running around the cat most likely ran into a couple 200 ichers especially on the Navajo. Where in my initial reply did I say anyhring about the cat only eating any kind of animal let alone only big bucks. Again I thank you for the absolutely stupendous tutorial on a lions diet. And thanks for correcting something I never once said. Again 2 or 3 big bucks in a 3600 day life span would equate to less than a percent of his diet. Anymore wonderful tutorials would be appreciated. I regret even saying the deer ate anything at all other than spikes and rabbits.

It's really sad what hunting has become. The young man saw and killed a buck on his own, end of story. There's so many uniformed hunters out there. It's just sad. All the bs being circulated around by the giant smoke and mirror dog and pony shows az has to offer has infected us all, especially the uninformed. Poor young man that killed the buck probably just went out to have some fun. Doesn't look like he's trying to brag in any way but just share the buck with us all. Meanwhile there's guys that talk about themselves constantly through thick smoke that everyone looks up to. Just sad!!! The average guy like the young man that killed the buck gets caught up in it all because of all the look at me's out there confusing and hyping the living crap out of the sport. It's time to rethink where we as hunters have come too. The few egos out there hyping it all up to get to your pocket book are the ones to blame. Behind all the smoke is usually the real story but the public is to ignorant to see it. The hype in hunting is and will be the demise of the sport, and no politician could come close to the damage being caused by the high end lee and Tiffany's out there stirring the pot. All I can say is I feel sorry for the young man for having to deal with anything but compliments. Heck if a couple of the hypers from az had killed the buck we would never hear the end of it and most of you would drop and worship at their feet. But when a average dude kills it, it's attack time. Go figure. Congrats to the young man and his world record. All I can say is I'm glad it wasn't one of the dog and pony shows from az that killed the buck and was an average dude out having more fun than most.

Never heard that one before Toby. If doping was even a chance then the tribe must be feeding their coues estrogen not androgenic steroids cause the average buck on the Carlos is smaller than the average buck on state land in our premium units, and I believe lions are the reason for this. Their elk is a whole diff story as I would find it hard to believe there's another place in the US that has so many really big bulls per square mile. The tribe is really careful how many elk they shoot and its this reason why there are so many big Bulls. The res in the rut could be mistaken for a high end high fence operation during the rut. I met a couple tribal members a couple years years ago while near the fence line hunting and they had video after video of Bulls over 400 from just that week. Their hunter had passed 2 on the video that were clearly over 415. If I could hunt anywhere for elk period, it would be the San Carlos. It would be like taking unit 23,3c,And 1 together and having less than a 100 bull tags available combined for all hunts. Shooting anything under 400 on the dry lake unit could be considered a crime. Anyone that believes the res is doping probably believes in big foot also.

    Huge cat on the Navajo?

The Navajo has its share of 200 inchers. I would bet a 1000 dollars that cat ate several. Have you ever been to the Navajo. Probably not.

Can you imagine how many 200 inch bucks that thing has eaten. Seeing this cat makes me feel like I should be nervous walking out of the woods at night. Wow.

    Ward's Outfitters January 2016 Bucks

Are those Arizona bucks, or private land Mexico bucks??? Just curious. Seems like some have to be from private from Mexico with rifles in the background being taken in January.

    Guide Schools

By the time you pay for tires and truck repairs it doesn't add up, unless your guiding week in and week out for the 5 month run. If you try to part time it, it won't work, and will most likely net a loss overall. Do not go to the guide class for guiding in az. I've done many guided hunts, and never used horses once. Horses pretty much just get in the way. The class will be a total waste of money trust me. It's more about experience in the field and knowledge of certain units you want to guide in. My advice is find a guide and offer to help in camp for free. Let the guide judge your skills as you may be better than you think or worse than you think experience wise. Somebody posted about being the camp cook on here cause they don't have to beat up their gear, i pretty much agree with that statement. Be prepared to be gone from your loved ones entirely to much in my opinion. Clients are almost always understanding, nice, and fun to be with. I've only had one ahole in 23 years of part timing it.

    Pending New Record Archery Coues

Don't fool yourself, the san carlos issues tons of coues tags to the tribal members for their own hunt. The res gets plenty of pressure for coues, and many of the tribal members are really really exceptional hunters as well as really good people. Throw on top of that several non tribal member tags, and more lions that you could shake a stick at and a buck getting anywhere near this awesome bucks size is a massive accomplishment. It's unbelievable how many lions the res has. Elk is a whole diff story as 400 inch bulls are common, but for coues it's far far from an easy hunt. State land on average is better than the san carlos for big coues all day long. What an accomplishment the young man just pulled off!!!!!!

This is the best part about it for sure. Huge congrats to the young man. I heard from several tribal members it was shot road hunting. That makes it even better in my mind for sure. Love seeing big bucks get shot by average dudes out there!!!!Awesome job young man!!!! Thamks to the op for posting also. Now the young man just needs to guard himself against all the az internet cheese balls that I'm sure are waiting to use the young mans buck somehow for their own gain. Hope he keeps the buck pure and to himself as much as possible.

    Let's talk tires

The new bfg's are great. Been running bfg's for 10 years now and I've had only 2 flats. Close to 10000 miles a year off road on average. Only complaint was tire wear on the old ones. New ones have a harder compound it seems and wear seems to be slower. New ones are really good in snow. They aren't quit as sticky as the old ones but still good.
