Sportsmans Input Sought by ConserveandProtectAZ.org-Unit wide Raffle and Auction Tags
couesmagnet replied to Jay Scott's topic in The Campfire
Don't let the rich guys tell you that they have the only way to fix this problem. They will use all kinds of elaborate excuses and smoke and mirror shows to get what they want and make sure they benefit only, or at least the most. . There's a reason why it's always a rich mans fix only proposed to us all for the problem that's told and sold to you. Things can be cleverly disguised to soften ones keyster. Just let us rich guys take care of this problem. We have it all under control. And you average guys can't help really, we got it all under control here. -

There's always some new excuse to pry into the cookie jar/ kitty. And somehow the fix is always magically set up to be done by the elite or wealthy. Notice how's there almost never a way the common man can help the situation. Only the rich somehow can help?? Superman to the rescue always?? I don't buy it one single bit. Let the common man and the rich share the burden and a level playing field with that combination. Rich guys can throw all the money they want at raffle tickets. And so can the common man in bulk numbers. Then in five years if they become auction tags only , holy smokes Mary Theres a new battle to fight and we need to double the rich man tags to fight the new battle. Never ending scare tactics till half the premium tags are at auction for every unit and az becomes a glorified New Mexico on steroids. It's wonderful that there's several rich guys willing to pick up the slack , but I say thanks but no thanks. Everyone can share in the bill not just the rich and if they have to give more raffle tags to equal what the auction tags would have generated then so be it. I wonder if there was an organization that set up donations for the money they need before they made a decision how that could help in lowering the amount of tags needed designated for raffle or auction. Kimda test the waters on how serious your average Hunter is about donating x amount of money towards a fund set up specifically for said fights. -

Raffle tags only , no auction tags. Auction tags equals slippery slope. Raffle tags include the average Jo at least. Auction tags is total bs. Level the playing field with raffle tags only. Auction tags equals one big scam for Rich. Raffle tags can benefit anyone not just the rich. -
Shot my first buck in 87 in 23. Across the counter leftover unit 23 December tag. Imagine that!! That makes me old. It's about as small of a spike you could imagine. Proud as heck i was.

I'm good with the camera rule. It will help bring back some mystery to the sport, and some much needed skills to the sport. I've used cameras myself and don't mind the sacrifice of loosing the privelage of using them. Goimg to be hard to not run them but it's kinda what's needed to round out the skill set of your average Hunter, and especially the younger generation of hunters who pretty much depend on them now a days. A lot of our bucks have come from good ole glassing but some have come from cams and the advantage that comes with running them. Now it will be critical on cam placement since man made water is out. The best thing for the cams being restricted is the strip. It's become as big of a joke as it could be up there and most deer don't stand a chance with it looking like Hollywood on every water. It's almost embarrassing for hunters when a non Hunter walks anywhere near a trick tank up there. Now that's abkut to disappear It will even out the chances for guys that aren't running 75 plus cams and won't make a guy feel like he's missing out cause he can't run that many. Makes it more relaxing for all involved and evens out the playing field. This is good for the sport for sure.

There's still hope for anyone who put in for 18 a muzzy antelope. I drew it and if I draw my Colorado mule deer muzzy tag I'll be giving the antelope tag back in a hurry. There isn't a goat big enough to keep me from shooting a 200 inch mule deer. 18 a muzzy guys keep your fingers crossed I draw Colorado. Next in line gets an 18 a muzzy tag if I do. Good luck to all that got tags this year. At least I got an early archery elk tag I won't be giving back.

I drew 18 a muzzy. Where's the short massive goat you found. Just kidding I'll find my own.
-
Half the tags will be plus or minus the Barnhart trail road. That should tell you something. Good luck. Pm me I'm willing to share.

The juniors hunts for coues are the best tags in the state. I would take a juniors hunt for coues over any december tag in any unit. While i think its great there are juniors only tags and love to see kids afield, i dont think they need the best tags in the state for coues, date wise. I think the coues juniors hunt dates should be later and put between some of the general hunts. Also to many tags allotted for juniors coues overall. Again nothing against kids but their tags are the best dates a guy could ask for regarding coues deer. Heck give adults some tags with the juniors dates and give some juniors tags for the late december dates. To many junior tags given overall in my opinion. Cut them in half.

Even if I wanted to block a road, which I don't but if I did I would be scared to death of my truck getting trashed for doing it. The whole time I would be thinking my truck was getting trashed when hunting cause i was such a doushe bag I deserved it for blocking a road. The valve stems I think is a fair punishment. Or the deuce on the hood, either one.

Really nice buck. Job well done!! -
He should have looked smaller 6 days later. If the velvet pic is 6 days before rubbing then when that pic was taken he was def done growing hence 6 days later he rubbed his antlers becasue he was done growing and ready to rub his velvet off. I've never seen a buck that's ready to rub 6 days later get bigger but only smaller becasue of the loss of the " velvet look " and velvet adds inches to a score of a buck. The second pic makes no sense to me at all. He should have looked smaller 6 days later not bigger. Does anyone else have an explanation for how a buck that rubbed 6 days later was able to grow that much in 6 days?? Why would he rub his antlers in 6 days from the first pic if he was in a stage of that much antler growth. Makes no sense!!

Time for a new tuck Diesel or Gas
couesmagnet replied to AZBUCKEYE's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I've got a diff take on diesel dodges. I know 4 people with the dodge diesel including me , my brother, and 2 friends. Regular oil changes and such. MY first motor went out at 102k and the second motor dodge installed went out at 250k. Mine was a 2005. My brothers 2006 dodge diesel motor went out at 110k. Both of my friends dodge diesel motors went out before 180k miles. Next to no towing on all trucks. so out of the 4 trucks doge diesel powered none of the motors lasted longer than a 180k miles and averaged around 140k on the motors. When a diesel dodge goes out its almost a cash for clunkers situation also with a reman motor costing 11 to 12 k installed. if youve got tons of money and its out of warranty its ok , but if you dont be prepared for some serious debt. I run into dodge guys all the time raving about the motors and i bust out my stats on the 4 friends including family and me that have had the diesel dodge. It takes more than a 12 pack to stomach a 11k bill when your out of warranty. If i wasnt towing i wouldnt even consder spending the extra 10k or more for the diesel option, unless selling it before a 100k miles.
