    gila monster

Nice pics. I found a place that has basically unlimited gila monsters. You have to be there in march and april, but it's not uncommon to see 20 in a season, and no they are not the same ones. it's a gila monster rutting ground or something. It's amazing to see all the differences in size and body structure of these beautiful lizards. Before finding this place i had seen around 5 in the wild, now at least 30 diff lizards. Does anyone know if gila monsters congregate during april, or if this place is something weird. I call the trail i walk to see them all the "gila monster highway", cause for some reason they all walk down this little trail, and all you have to do is ramble down the trail to see at least 5 per day.
  2. It's not very hard to find big deer, but what it is though, expensive and time consuming. Most of this argument boils down to hunter ability. When i hear of stand jumpers and gear steelers, i immediately know the culprit isn't a good hunter, setting aside his moral values. It's easy to move to the next place if your a good hunter and find more big game to hunt, but it's not if your a crappy hunter. There is a line in the sand drawn, and that line is defined by the respect you have for yourself first and then the guys gear or spot you stumble on in the forest. No one owns a spot for sure but if your a good hunter, it doesn't even phase you to move to the next spot to give another guy his space. It's very easy to be respectful of others if you know what your doing. I can't stand the excuse that everyone uses these days, and that is it's everyone's forest. While this is obviously true, it still boils down to the respect you have for your own hunting ability and yourself. It's just a lot easier to cling onto the excuse that the forest is everyone's, and be a d bag because of it. Next time you get in a situation with another guy in the field or his gear, before you go for the "big excuse", ask yourself "how good am i at hunting". This question will help you determine if you give the guy that's already there his space, or if you reach for the excuse always used and charge in like a bull in a china cabinet. There are big coues bucks everywhere in this state, either you find them on your own or you ride someone elses hard work cause you told yourself your not a good hunter while mumbling the 'big excuse" to yourself kinda like a pep talk for how lame your about to get with your fellow hunter over a spot.

They are starting to hit CC

I haven't talked to steve chappel in a while. What a good dude, guide, and friend. Steve is a class act from head to toe. I hope steve gets lots of hunters this year, he certainly deserves it!!!

They are starting to hit CC

There is still hope, i just heard of a 23 north early rifle tag being hit today and he was checking everyday so far. Non resident though. It's ironic that right after bone777 missed a call from a blocked number the guy i know of got a hit on his card. I just wonder!!!!

They are starting to hit CC

There will still be a slow trickle of hits on cards for another 2 to 4 days this week, maybe till friday , and then results middle of next week. I sure hope i get to warm up the muzzleloader this year on an early september morning, i've never killed an elk with anything other than a bow.

    salt or corn?

  11. Obama was the best we have ever seen at selling scams to desperate people and convincing people of total bs. Every time his mouth opens our country becomes more divided. Even a lot of liberals have to be embarrassed of their vote for him.

    How long?

10 archery bull tags in arizona since started applying in 1988. 3 archery bull tags in new mexico. About 75 percent kill, 4 toads and a handful of 290- 340 bulls.

    Photo Radar

I've had too many photo cam tickets to count, and i've never paid one yet. We used to go by the one in pv in the tatum bend on crotch rockets doing wheelies every day sometimes over 85 miles an hour. Just don't answer your door for a little while after the flash.

"Dad there is a Bigger Buck"

    Excellent job, 2 nice bucks.
  16. I had 2 more cameras and ground blinds stolen this summer. They left enough gear still there to make it not the forest service. I'm averaging 2 stands a year being messed with or totally vanishing. If everyone thinks these are just a few guys, your drinking cool ade with something special in it. It's a whole bunch of us hunters that are super d bags out there, and i mean a whole bunch, like 20 percent of the whole crew out there hunting has to be stealing all this stuff. You just can't have a few guys cover this much area in the state. I know if your one of the super d bags and you read this it doesn't bother you to hear honest people getting ripped off, but all i can hope is that you step on a rattlesnake in front of my stand and i get pictures of the aftermath. It's unbelievable how many dishonest guys are out there.

Like a bunch of hungry wolverines in a cage together. Hope my card gets plundered with charges from the g and f.

    UPDATE PAYMENT INFO!

Cmbulldog, make sure the person who is packing you in there if you draw is available at the drop of a hat to turn around and pick you back up again if you kill an elk. If he's not staying in there with you bring a satellite phone cause your elk will spoil in there quick and getting it out on foot is almost impossible. A lot of guys go in there with a good game plan of getting one , but once it's down they get overwhelmed cause their horse ride in isn't due back for days. Good luck on your draw.

    UPDATE PAYMENT INFO!

Cmbulldog, i am putting in for 17 , 13, and 23 all archery. I was just kidding about new mexico in the previous post. I've been guiding in new mexico for the elk hunts for 12 years now whether it's friends or clients, it just depends on the year. Your average herd bull in new mexico is around 300 inches or less, but there are some whoppers still . New mexico's draw odds are absolutely horrible , nearly as bad as arizon'a are for a non residents. It's just my opinion but the 16 units are starting to get over rated. My brother and i have killed 3 bulls over there in various units, 2 in the mid 380's and 1 in the low 370's on the archery hunts. I'm sure you know this already but 16b is a wilderness hunt and will require horses. You can hike in around the perimeter but so will most of the rest of the tags, so be careful this isn't your only game plan. Good luck on the brutal draw odds over there now!!

    UPDATE PAYMENT INFO!

I wouldn't be concerned about new mexico, there's nothing there over 300 inches, and besides i'm going to draw new mexico anyways and save everyone from having to put in there(n.m.). Since when are there so many guys putting in for new mexico on this site. How did the word get out about all those 300 inchers? Close to 800 dollars for a 300 incher, something must be going on. What's everyone putting in for over there?
  21. couesmagnet

    Anyone concerned about this WEATHER

I'm good with 10 inches less than that. It's going to be tough. Nice bull evanator, looks just as big in person.
