How do rumors like this get propagated every year about someone's animal? How do so many people get their info wrong so many times? Seems to me that only about 10 percent of the people on the site actually know anything about what their talking about and that 10 percent are the people that actually spend lots of time in the outdoors. Being in the outdoors is the only way to learn something about the outdoors. Quit hunting people and get out and hunt some critters instead. Jerry springer type stuff about every topic. Pay attention to the guys that are out there pounding the forest and take the rest with a grain of salt. This will help in digesting all the rest of the jibberish from people who really have no idea what they are talking about and never will cause the computer is the only input in their lives. Sorry you guys had to endure this attack on you bucks from last year and congrats for doing so well.

Ive put in at the last second every year for the last 20 years. It's a habit and a superstition. My goal is to try to be the last one to put in on any given year. Glad they extended the deadline for all the people trying to be the last one to put in like me. What a deal.

Any pics of big sweets in 2009 around cause that would be honor to see indeed. With one side going 69 inches that would put him at 138 without a spread and around 152 with a 14 inch spread. Big sweets is def a super giant but in the hard horned pics from 2010 he looks like a 125 class buck to me. He looks a lot bigger in the velvet as they usually do but compare hard horned pics of sweets to hard horned pics of Coueszilla. Again big sweets is a dream buck no matter what he scores and both bucks are spectacular specimens that give us all a reason to keep hunting. Thanks for postin the pics of your awesome buck dude.

Coueszilla makes big sweets look small in my opinion. Coueszilla is bigger broken up than big sweets is unbroken. Coueszilla unbroken is at least 20 inches bigger. Both are awesome bucks an would be a dream to take.

750 - 1000 wolves planned in Az; meeting planned this weekend
couesmagnet posted a topic in Elk Hunting
Anyone here planning on going to the meeting this weekend. Forget about credit card hits in the future boys and girls, we wont have any elk to hunt. Meeting is at g and f on carefree highway from 8;30 to 5:30 tomorrow. -
Don't get stuck following everyone else like a herd of buffalo into 22,23 and a couple more of the most commonly known units everyone else seems to know. 6b/8 has giant bucks in it, as do 35,24b,24A. Most people are willing to wait for the popular units, cause it's simply all they know. Why wait another 2 years to draw just to join the herd of buffalo. Your onto something with your thought process and you should stick with it. 6A has plenty of deer in it, but the lower third of 6A has seen a decrease in numbers in my opinion. Good luck on your choice. but waiting for the "herd" units is a mistake in my opinion. I would say going with an area that you know already should trump following everyone else into the most popular areas. Good luck on your choice.

bowe bergdahl is a Traitor

At what point do the democrats finally admit to themselves that they really really really screwed up in electing obama. It blows my mind that some are still proud of this sneaky liar we have to somehow call our president. There must be some kind of deep seated mechanism in democrats minds that allows them to look at themselves in the mirror without feeling totally embarrassed about this guy. Hopefully, somehow, they won't buy snake oil the next time. -
Gone way way to far for sure.

That rhino didn't hurt the tree at all. If the tree had an issue with the rhino it would never had made it through all the bears climbing it or all the other animals over the years. 5 guys keep climbing trees with your rhino and sending us pics, don't worry about the police, they just wish they had the juevos to do it themselves.

That is a great buck, and one that i would put in the monster category especially with a bow. I've been hunting coues deer all my life and have yet to kill a buck like that with my bow, and in this instance it's a buck shot by a young man. If i would have killed that buck with my bow at his age i would have a brown stain running all the way down my pants to my shoes. Tell your son that we are all super proud of him for his success, and that he should cherish that one for life. Awesome job indeed!!!

You don't want to call bulls in close before the hunt. I usually call while scouting but just enough to catch a glimpse of him, and then sneak back out before he gets close enough to spook. If there is any vantage points around to glass from, call from these to get a glimpse of the bull. I no longer carry a bugle anymore in the field, and it's worked out great!! Good luck

which pack is the best all around for hunting?
couesmagnet replied to Coues Kid's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I've tried them all and I finally bought the outdoorsman's pack. It the best one out there for stability and comfort for hauling lots of gear for miles. Awesome pack. -
What does phase 2 fire restrictions mean. Does that mean access is closed down? I have 300 pounds of salt to put out

The kind of hunting described above is still hunting, just a diff. kind of hunting. Obviously western style hunting is harder and more challenging, but the other way is still hunting. I have the same kind of argument with fly fishing people who usually have the same attitude to me standing there with a spinning rod in my hand. The best place to witness this dichotomy of attitudes is the san juan river in new mexico. I almost got run off the river by several fly fisherman there once when i pulled out my spin cast set up. After a good heckling from the fly guys i made it to the river and caught 25 fish to their 1 fish. All they could say was i was cheating with a spinner rod, and that's why i caught so many. I in return said i came here to catch fish and that's it!!! My pole was bent over for 2 hours straight, and i had a smile from ear to ear. Kind of the same analogy with diff styles of hunting. As long as your happy doing it how you do it, have fun a don't look back!!!

I feel for ya flat lander, maybe downgrade to 4b archery elk for a tag!! 9 points gives you tag number 1.

I don't know about killing a mountain lion with a 22, but i did see a lowered monte carlo roll over a big cat on the 300 road once and it had 22 inch rims. Kitty didn't even move a step after the impact. Huge group of people pulled over to see the big tom laying there, some were crying over the deal, i was the only one with a grin from ear to ear.

I'm still waiting for a charge for deer from a henries muzzeloader tag. I was expecting to draw this year.
-
I wonder if the bulls are even going to grow 5th points this year with how dry it is. I'm beginning to wonder if i was lucky to draw my archery elk tag this year, or if it was a curse. Nothing wrong with 350 class 5 point bulls i guess, only time will tell.

You early birds & your high morals make me sick! I'll start thinking about fletching my arrows around the 14th or so... Heck starting on the 14th is early to some, lol. I'm not good enough to shoot past 60 yards anyways!!

I lived in pennsylvania from 1996 to 2000 going to dental school at university of pitts. If i had to drive into school to study at the library at night it could get pretty hairy sometimes. Literally like driving through a storm of deer. Lots of evasive action required!!

I'm glad we are dead last. Also the deer around our highways are pretty shot up due to access issues in az. Stuff gets hunted hard around roads here.
-
I don't start practicing till august 1st every year, seems to have worked out just fine, but then again i won't shoot over 60 yards. Good luck to all this year.
