AGFD news What would you think of a new online club for hunters?
couesmagnet replied to AGFD News's topic in News from Arizona Game and Fish Dept.
Here's the big diff between az and all the other states that allow you to turn your tag back in. Az averages bonus points on an app and the others don't. This is why the angle I'm worried about comes into play with az's system and surrendering your tag and the prevalence being higher here if it's allowed. I'm all for averaging points the way it is now, but with the surrender option and averaging together there needs to be a penalty for the person who surrenders their tag. In the other states it doesn't matter cause they don't average points on the app. -

The turning your tag back in thing will have to be dealt with very carefully for sure. There will have to be consequences to the person turning their tag back in point wise, or otherwise the g and f just opened up a black market for big point guys turning their tags back in. The person turning their tag bck in needs to fall back in numbers of points by losing their point for the year they turned their tag back in for, and possibly their loyalty point for a couple years. If the g and f doesn't really watch what their doing here, all they will do by trying to interface better with us the customers, will be to cause an unfair system for the majority and average working folk. There are several schemes that could be figured out if there isn't a penalty involved with turning your tag back in. I can think of several if theres lots of cash involved. -

I think over all the game and fish has done an exceptional job managing our state for as long as I can remember. I have always enjoyed having the chance on any tag in any unit of harvesting something really special regardless of the species. I commend the department for not going the way Utah and a few other states have gone with regards to all the auction tag numbers being available. Secondly our state might not have the numbers of animals others do but our quality is pretty much second to none. It's hard to find the delicate balance needed for every person to be happy about a particular issue but the g and f has done a great job over all when you really look at things. Our tags in az are the most sought after tags in the world and that should tell everyone something positive. Raising tag prices last year was a necessity in my opinion. -

If you turn your tag back in do you lose your point for the year you turned your tag back in? It's a really bad idea if they don't lose the point for that year. Also if a guy puts in with a bunch of points with a couple of his friends and the guy with the bunch of points on the app turns his tag back in, the other guys on the app get to keep their tags while the big point guy loads up an app for the next year and does the same thing over and over. Bad idea -

I don't like any of the hunting club ideas put forth so far. No one should be able to buy any kind of priority access. In addition I don't like the turn your tag back in deal either more cause I don't understand how this Would affect the clearing of high bonus point holders if some were to be turning their tags in each year instead of clearing their points. I like that the g and f is trying to think outside the box but I don't like what they came up with here. -
Want trying to be negative about the g an f at all but moving the draw up just 2 weeks would alleviate any and all problems of timing whether it's scouting or getting days off of work. No big deal.

I drew the strip archery in 2011 and didn't get my tag till August 3 rd in the mail. The season opened on August 18th that year so I didn't have my tag till 2 weeks before the hunt. I wanted to leave town on August 1 for a 45 day roll but had to wait for the tag. These late dates of finding out and getting your tag presents a tough deal for archery strip guys. They tell the results way to close To the hunt to have a chance to scout unless your willing or able to go up right before the hunt to scout and stay there till opening day. This has to be on purpose cause there is no other reason for doing it this way. What about the people who have to give warning at work of their neede vacation time for an archery strip tag. The way it's being done now they have less than 3 weeks to give that warning. Food for thought.

Wow he's a lot tighter framed than I thought. Those super tight frame mini me type bucks are tough to score from a pic. Still a cool find.
-
Nice pics dude. Thanks for posting
-
Dandy buck, congrats.
-
That is a really cool pic. Brings a certain kind of peacefulness just looking at it. I had a dream I drew tag number 55 for rifle 13b so I guess that's what I got.
-
What did the buck score, not to many guesses coming in anymore. What a cool buck.
-
High 90s to 100 inch frame plus the 2 droppers on each side for a total of 114
-
Nice pics, thanks for posting them.
-
Very nice find, the second you walked up to him, priceless.

That's one ugly deer. I'd shoot him just to get him out of the gene pool. I'd rather have a clean 200 incher than that buck. Nothing wrong with some experimentation just keep it behind the fence.

5 guys I feel your pain. I lived in Pittsburg for 7 years of my life. I was lucky enough to have been there in the glory years from 1978 to 1982 when the steelers were the best there was to offer. As a young kid I spent all my allowance on collecting steeling cards and wishing I could be a Pitt steelers player. Heck every kid in Pitts at the time wanted to be one. One day we were down by the stadium when they were filming a Rocky bliar movie and my dad snuck us into the stadium. We actually made it into the locker room while they were filming the movie. In less than an hour I was able to sit on terry bradshaws, stallworths, lc greenwoods, jack lamberts,Lynn swans, and chuck knolls lap. You have to understand at this age this was like meeting the president for others. I had a lot of my trading cards with me and got all their signatures and pics of them signing my cards in their laps. One of the biggest highlights of my life and a memory from my childhood I will never forget. The steelers organization lost a heck of a man in chuck knolls and the memories chuck knolls created for you and me each weekend they played were special to say the least. I feel for ya 5 guys. Good post.

couesmagnet replied to jdub's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
That is an awesome buck, and it would have been a huge honor to have even been there just to see the shot. What a cool hunt. Congrats to everyone involved from your daughter to the ground pounders. Wow!!! -
well put and the same reason we never post pics either. I would love to post a bunch of pics of my family's huge collection of big bucks, but why when all it takes is one person to spoil the whole post and experience. Food for thought.

jumping to conclusions with no facts always helps a situation doesn't it. You must have taken the 90 percent comment personal obviously. If it makes you feel better I will throw myself into the 90 percent category, I don't care. If everyone knew what they were talking about on here then the site would be that much better wouldn't it. It would be filled with facts other than just conjecture. Carry on
-
i feel the same way about poachers bud so let's have a post that talks about poachers and that doesn't single out a certain person or animal before they are deemed guilty by the actual agencies that know the facts. That's all I was saying. Every year we have these type of posts and there is almost never a conviction involved. Have your generalized opinions of poaching an just wait for the facts on specific cases. Sitting there with a rope in hand before the court decides is lame in my opinion and spiteful. Carry on with negativity about people if you want, isn't that what most people want on here. Go get um tiger.
-
Odds are over 90 percent that anything negative said about anyone or anything on this site has nothing to do with actual facts and more to do with envy and anger about someone's success or supposed advantage. Focus on the outdoors and it's critters and everything else will just become a distraction on here.

well put Stanley that was easy!!!

When they say you have from this date to this date, you should have from this date to that date to put in. If the opportunity to put in changes from the original opportunity prescribed than yes it should be extended. There are lots of reasons to be putting in late during the prescribed time given to do so from funds availability to everything else under the sun. Everything will be ok in a couple weeks I promise everyone. Good luck on the draw to everyone also wether late or early in applying.
