Anyone hunt 36B and willing to share knowledge
parrita58 replied to no worries's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I was there last week. We camped out between mile post 8-10 and where successful dropping 2 bucks. It seemed to me that they are hanging out really low and Always with another buck or two. In 2 occations I saw bucks with does, seems a little early for that still. Hunt low, I glassed up a herd of 6 deer twice, 4 of them where decent bucks. We had luck walking into canyons and popping those deer out of their bedding areas. Good luck hope this helps for you and your young one. Keep us posted -
Great work man. This is some awesome footage

Last week I was fortunate to help my brother in law with his mulie hunt in which he was successful and I got to bring some meat home. I used some of the meat to make Carne Seca or beef jerky. I rubbed it with garlic pepper and SalT and others I added CHILTEPIN to add a Nice kick to it. Can't wait to sit down and chew on this with a cold beer. It will be ready in like 4-6 days B-)

I went out Thursday the day of Halloween to help my brother and law and some of his friends for there mule deer tag. Woke up early this morning had some breakfast burritos and off we went at around 530am. We got to our vantage point and before you know it I had does feeding up a ridge in my binos. We waited them out and around 8am we decided to move to our second spot because sol we saw where does. We got there and 200+yrds in front 2 bucks where on the move. We lost them when they went down a canyon. We put a plan together and we went after them we chased them for the next 2 hrs until one of them presented a shot at about 265yards and my brother in law dropped him in his tracks with a spine shot. The buck didn't move a inch from where he was shot at. I'm really happy to had helped in my brother in laws hunt being that his last buck was 4 years ago. Now that buck fever is running thru my vaines after this morning's hunt I have to wait until November 29th for my Coues hunt. That's my brother in law in the picture...

Brother in law shot this guy in the opener at 9am. One of our friends from camp shot a 140+ mulie but never got to find a blood trail or the deer, but it was shot a little above the stomach. We where hunting 35b

Nice job Jeremiah. Nice shooting way to fill your tags. Send to me you didn't leave any for me and my brother for our late November hunt lol that's the correct way to fill up some freezers -
Nice job bro. Those are some great looking coues bucks to have taken these past two seasons. Congratulations on two great looking bucks, I can assure you that most members would be stocked to have any of them two under their belts. Keep up the good shooting.

You should look into the outfitters that sponsor this site. You won't go wrong with any of them.

That last picture should be entered in the picture contest we have every year haha it's cool. Nice job but definitely looks like hybrid.

.270 Win vs. .270 WSM...irony
parrita58 replied to Viper's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Ive had better luck buying ammo for my.270 at pawn shops in Tucson. Cash box on Craycroft always had Hornady SST 130-150gr. I would call every store first that you can drive too and make sure someone carries them before you spend time driving around. Good luck hope you find some before you're hunt -
WHAT RIFLE WILL YOU BE SHOOTING THIS SEASON?
parrita58 replied to AZ_SAWBUCK's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Remington 700 .270 Viper HS 4-16x44 on 30 mm Talleys Bipod Hornady 130g SST -
Where are you located. If it's close to me I'll take the 22 revolver

Max1 camp for the archery August hunt, and for the fall I use Cabelas 3D seclusion Open Country. I like them both for either season. IMO I think the max 1 Cano pattern works better during the August hunts because of its green colors, and the open county pattern had more of a fall coloration to it.

That is odd, my brother just purchased a 12 gauge at Wal-Mart last night in Tucson had no problems. He was in and out in like 30 minutes.

That think that looks like a hyena from south Africa??? Lol but I would say that looks like a bobcat....

I picked up a vortex viper 4-16x44 during labor day and they had it for 399. Haven't seen any other scope specials besides some Zeiss....

For the past 3 years I was shooting my Remington 700 .270 with Winchester silver ballistic tip 130 grain bullets. For the past year I've had trouble finding that load and recently after going to the range I find my self with my last 5 silver tips :-\ today I decided to go with the Winchester power max bonded load at 130 grain. I did shoot several nice groups, some at 3/4" some at 1". The problem that I had was that with some of the 3 shot groups I would hit target on 2 shots and the third shot would hit 5-6 inches left and 7-8 inches low which really didn't convince me. My question is, what factory load have you guys have good grouping with, I am all ears and open to any suggestions in different loads and weights, if like to stick with 130 grains but would consider something else. As of right now I am not capable of loading my own ammo so that is not an option. FYI I wouldn't shoot a deer farther than 370-390 yds do with that said what do you guys think would be my better option? This is what I'm working with Remington model 700 .270 with 4-16x44 vortex viper Talley rings and bipod.... I thought this was cool so I will share, I had a Camo steering wheel cover on my jeep which became wobbly and was useless for my steering wheel, but I was in the market for a scope sleeve and it clicked in my brain to turn the steering wheel cover into a scope sleeve. So I had my mom measure my scope and she sowed it to perfection, it looks good....here is a couple of pictures for you guys and gals to see..... :-)
