Voodoo shanty town. Not too far south of the valley. Big horn horn hanging in the tree. No big horns for miles.... -
I use the Back Country Navigator app on my smart phone. $10. Multiple maps. Topos. Sat images. Can download areas and save em for when you don't have service. Works in airplane mode to save battery. Saves waypoints. Records your track. Good as any GPS I've used.

Try "hunting open country mule deer" by Dwight Schuh. Older book but info is still valid. We can do a swap if your interested. Ive read it a few times. -

Their are alot of sleeper units for big bulls. Every unit that holds elk, holds a few mature bulls. Gotta find em. No elk tag for me so ill continue my quest for that archery buck. I dont even wanna hear the word elk for the rest of the year...

I am looking to reach a goal of mine this year and do a backpack archery deer hunt in the sycamore canyon wilderness. Have any members been back in there for this type of Endeavour? Best time to hunt back in there? (early or late season). Good starting points for hike in that is going to better my odds of being successful in spot&stalk type of country? Any gear advice? any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to pm

Only dogs I've ever owned were pit bulls. A bullison (which was a dog fight specific breed) we NEVER fought her! She NEVER showed human aggression. She would actually lick your face off. The two I have now (a papered blue nose & red nose) have NEVER shown human aggression. They are VERY loyal to the owners and very eager to please and work. Actually the only dogs I've had snap at me were my aunts black lab n my buddies golden lab. Over breeding. Interbreeding and flat out abuse of the breed has caused the type of behavior this dog showed during this mauling. It is people that have tarnished the bully breed that used to be Americas dog. A pit bull is more likely to attack another dog than a human. ANY dog is unpredictable. They are animals. Nonetheless IF it were my dog, there would be no question that I'd put her down. Every dog has its day and all dogs go to heaven.

I am looking to visit my good friend who is getting his PHD at U.C. Davis(Sacramento area) this summer. We'd like to do some wild pig hunting. Preferably on a free range & NON high-fence ranch. Spot & stalk hunt. Usually I am A DIY guy but I'm not gunna travel 1400 miles and x amount of money and not rule out uncertainty. Any members have any experience with this type of hunt?

Ive been fortunate enough to help and call on some archery elk hunts the last few years in 4b. We were in elk every outting. Possibly the biggest living bull I've ever seen was there. And the two guys I was with also said that bull was the biggest live bull they've ever seen bar none. And it wasn't that "one" that was harvested. It was bigger. Just gotta find em. Also, didnt a record just get taken from 6a by a young lady that had people, again complaining. The Arizona model is quality over quantity. The number of tags don't help but it is a balancing act. If we aren't buying tags, game isn't being managed. Plain and simple. I think we would all like to see tag numbers go down. But resources to manage properly cost money. Alot of money. I myself am a young buck @ 25 but I try to see the positive in every negative situation I'am faced with. complaining never got anybody anywhere. It seems like this generation of Americans, whether you are 25 or 55, are a bunch of whiney-a$$ babies. nobody wants to put in the work but everybody wants to eat. Get involved if you are dissatisfied with whatever it is you are complaining about of be that shakey, nervous dog waiting for table scaps. This weekend im helping the mule deer foundation with a project in 42. A unit I hunt maybe 3/4 days in january when I dont have the time to go up north. You are welcome to join and put in some work but there will be no complaining or you will be called out. Good luck on the draw everyone! We should be glad we are fortunate to have the opportunity to hunt such a beautiful place! -

Right on. I couldn't find a website for chopper or much info other than forum discussions. Tejon in is a little steep @ $1200. I know its "THE place" They do a diy access only for $500 but its only certain weekends. At least that's what I get from visitg their site. Maybe hunt crazy in CA can give a little more insight. I have found this place though www.garciashuntingpreserves.com and talked to Jim. Sounds like a legit operation and he started a foundation for troubled youth. Giving them outdoor opportunities in honor of his son that passed away. If I can give back to something like this ill do it every time. Looking forward to what others have to say and hunting wild pig/giving back to some troubled hound men and women. I was once in their shoes.

Right on. Thanks gentlemen. I will look further into the info

Also of u go the DSLR adapted to your optic make sure u have a tripod setup that can handle the weight up top. It gets frustrating having to deal with the verticle axis slowly tipping from the offset weight from the camera. Even worse fully zoomed. I find that if you use a adjustable monopod with the base plate attached to the camera floor plate while the optic is on the tripod helps alot keep it extra steady. Use ur self timer also to keep even more steady. Its surprising what movement is created when u are pushing that shutter button. Especially at distances. Ur images will be real clear with a 2 second self timer. Also setup ur camera to take multiple exposures (like a 3 round burst) and multiple light exposures.
