10turkeys is right, you are by a mule and a paint. Seriously, is that an old cattle trough or an alien landing zone for UFO's?

At 3 am everything is good no matter how many molecules it has in it.

Grand Canyon to make second run at corralling bison herd
CATERPILLAR replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in The Campfire
Is horse and burro meat good to eat? If so maybe we should petition the AZGFD to open hunting for them. horses and burros have a lot of meat on them, imagine how many tomales could be made out of one horse. -
You would be better off camping than staying in winslow, winslow is kinda poopy. Just drive to winslow for supplies.

I don't know how to pm, but listen for bugles and go after them and you will find some cows. Stay north in 6a and cover ground, you find elk.
-
Yep, imagine how awesome it is going to be in 10 more days.
-
Yes I do have a tag this year.
-
I wouldn't put signs up, its just going to draw unwanted attention from people who think you have something really good coming to water. just get to your blind before everyone else and wave people off as they come in. if they are respectful hunters they will leave when they realize they have been beat to a spot. And for god sake don't use reflective thumb tacks to lead the way to your secret spot, everyone else can see them as well.

Both of those areas would be good. probably gonna be a lot more people than other areas in 11M. If just after an elk I would find water and sit all day everyday you will get something for sure.

We just got rain again today, we have had several good rains around the area in the last couple of days.

Don't waste the gas going to 6B, stay down there and scout more and hunt with your bow.

congratulations

Elk cow or bovine cow?
-
Don't get to high before you glass or you may start seeing things. Scouting on foot is usually the best way to find good glassing points, not many people are just gonna tell you where to go and glass on an internet forum. If someone was dumb enough to actually give you a glassing spot online then you would show up opening morning and there would be 80 other e-scouters sitting in the same spot.

If I lived that close to mount Lemmon I would never drive up north to hunt. I would hunt mount Lemmon exclusively.

congrats

Its not lack of rain, its the abundance of elk. More elk there now than used to be, and for some reason there are less mule deer. there are plenty of deer to choose from, just got to be the first hunter to them. the good spots get hunted hard especially by the people that live close to the unit. its easy to scout for any flagstaff, Williams, Sedona, camp verde, cotton wood, Clarkdale and even Jerome residents.

Just buy the dura trac tires and be done with it.

I agree, sitting water is always a viable option. I have seen elk drinking out of tanks when it was raining. It is really green up around flagstaff right now and there is water in most small draws, at least where I have a tag. I would rather chase elk than sit and wait for elk.

I think he scores around @ 440, if you make look 440 with trick photography who can say otherwise. It scores as high as your photography skill will let it score.

The weather service has a hard time getting the weather correct from day to day, I wouldn't put to much trust in a 10-14 day prediction, just me. it rained in small patches today east of flagstaff and that was not recorded.

There is actually more water around than the news reports. Gotta figure where they get their rain fall readings is mostly in town and not out in the woods.
