Stabilizer? How do you know what works best for your set up?
Maverick351 replied to apache12's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Flatlander, was that you today at Archery hq? -
Well I believe I'll be buying a ladder stand then.
-
What is the foc on those customs?
-
Thanks murph but go ahead and put it on the yard sale. Anyone have any opinions on what would work best?
-
I'm trying to decide, a hang on looks easy enough. Not a really long pack in but look I for something stable and comfortable enough to hunt for a day and unfortunately I'll probably have to set up then take down every weekend.
-
Shuttle T Locks are fixed blades and I'm usually just as fast as anyone ranging then counting pins, plus I don't have to gap shoot, my pin is set at an exact yardage.
-
As far as foc I'm at an acceptable level of 10/11%. High foc is nice in helping to correct arrow flight if the bow isn't tuned properly but I've never had that issue. I'm at 460gr shooting 285fps at 82.8 lbs of ke and .58 momentum. For the sight I range my target then turn the adjustment knob on my sight till my indicator pin hits the exact yardage mark then draw back and shoot. Seems to work so far. Pic is 80 yards at Paseo.

Swivel I consider myself willing to take a long distance shot if the situation calls for it. I shoot a 2014 Hoyt carbon spyder turbo at 28" 75lbs with a MBG Ascent 3 pin, Easton FMJ 340's 100gr Shuttle T Locks and practice to 130/140. I use a Vortex range finder. What else do you want to know?
-
If that was for me then thank you sir.

My 80 seems good so far. BTW the AAE MAX HUNTERS FLY VERY similar to BLAZERS to 80
-
And as far as flight characteristics go they seem pretty similar to 80 yards.

My 2015 archery coues takin at 110yrds

I wasn't questioning your abilities or set up, I was simply curious what lead to the shot from that distance. I myself practice to 135/140 just so I am comfortable at 80/90/100 in the perfect situation. I am curious with your arrow set up how much penetration you got. Most people focus on speed and ke and loose track of momentum which is what leads to better penetration at distance. -
My 340's are 11.3gpi. What else can I answer for you. I lost a little speed but gained a lot of kinetic energy and efficiency plus my bow is quieter with the heavy arrow. I'm shooting Trophy Taker Shuttle T Locks 100gr. I had considered Wac Ems but since the buy out the new company seems to have no idea what they're doing and the customer service is non existent.

Not questioning your shot distance or skills but why could you not close the distance any more? -
Horn hunter full curl system. Extremely versatile and can carry more weight than my body can. Built well and isn't outrageous on price.

Here is some food for thought, they stabilize great and give better helical and broadhead flight than just about anything else. When used as the manufacturer suggests(just curious but why is it that almost every person who does archery knows more about how to glue a vane and what glue to use than the engineers with college degrees who designed the vanes?) with their glue that is formulated with the bonding agents on the vane it's almost impossible to get off. Secondly the noise realistically is about a non issues. It is more heard from the sides than in front and between the sound of the bow, the noise we the hunters make and all the bugs buzzing around if the animal hasn't jumped at the sound of the bow by the time it hears the arrow it's too late.

Axis are fantastic arrows, I liked everything about them. I now shoot FMJ's because of the weight.

Arrow setup for you elk tag holders
Maverick351 replied to ZJARCHER's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Easton FMJ 340 @28" 3 right helical Blazer vanes fletched from an Az EZ Fletch mini 100 gr Shuttle T Locks 460gr flying 285 pushing 82.8+ lbs of kinetic energy and .58+ momentum. -
Straightness and the quality of the carbon used to make the arrows as well as the quality control and theres also the small fact that one is proudly made in the United states by the largest arrow manufacturer in the world who has the most advanced arrow technology while the other one is made outside and shipped in.

New Bow decision for 2015 hunting season
Maverick351 replied to GWHunter's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Both are great bows but personally the source would be my decision, if you wanted shorter then the premonition is a great choice too. -
Well my main thing is I have foot problems and most boots become painful after a day of hiking trails bow hunting. I've been wearing trail running shoes lately and they are very comfortable I just am not sure if I could hunt in them.

Aae has a special bonding agents on their vanes formulated for their glue.

Anyone here have any experience with Salomon shoes?
