  3. Well the pig and archery deer season winded down and I found some new country to check out. Was a couple of miles into the solo hike and crested a ridge line... Was working my way back to the truck and looked north and started grinnin' ear to ear! Woo hoo- first shed of 2009. It had been there for a while, but after a 600 vertical climb was all the more worth it! Enjoy- It won't be long now! As it lay picture: AzP&Y

    Sky miles Credit Card help

Scotty, I saw your post on here while I was at work today and thought I would share a few success tips that have worked for me. I flew to Europe last year with my wife and India the year before that. I also have been using the Citi Aadvantage credit card that gives you 1 mile for every dollar spent. All of my travel has been concentrated on American Airlines or partners of AA. They have incredible global service ...http://www.oneworld.com/ Also, when I opened the citi advantage card they gave me another 15K in miles. There are lots of promotions and offers and it is constantly changing and evolving. I work for the world's largest travel company so I am in the loop when it comes to travel trends and global travel incentives. For grins I checked flights from PHX to Johannesburg and the routing was PHX-DFW to London, London to Johanesburg on British Air (one world partner). Probably not the best routing but again, it's important to look at global alliances when flying around the world. American is your home town TEXAS KICK A$$ airline as well... so there is another incentive There are many options and when you get some dates I'd be happy to assist with any routing or faring. I enjoy helping people with my knowledge of global travel and I'm super happy for someone to head abroad to see new things and experience what is truely out there. Some folks think going to the Mogillon Rim is a big deal. Try trekking 8000 miles from home for a month with a backpack! If your pictures are anything like the last trip, I wait with great anticipation. Rock on Global Traveler! Covert II Trail Cam from CWT.com

jbell, I don't own the covert but have the wildview cameras. Some of the important factors that help these cameras are the height the camera is off the ground and also the way the camera is pointed towards the ground. Jimmer has his pointed toward the ground and the base of the tree in the background. He is basically covering that spot on the ground. It may be tougher to cover a span of 'fenceline' with the camera. Lots of it is also the direction of the sun , that can washout pictures in a hurry. Just some tips and suggestions. I think the infared on the covert is pretty neat and once you get the hang of it , can be a great trail camera. The wildviews are cheaper but mine use a flash. Which the bear that sees the flash go off, loves to come and rub up against the tree the camera is on and turns it So, I get side ways pictures... Jimmer- nice urban yote pics! Good Luck- AzP&Y

I Guess this might be "Other Big Game"

A couple of summers ago we were pushing some miles on the Arizona Trail - rim country. We had seen a sign posted " AMBER ALERT" . Turns out it was a message advising that Amber had gotten loose on a pack in Trip for some girl scouts. We pushed another mile or so and came around the corner and saw this. I must say at first glance , ELK is what came to my mind. The animal kinda moved in a circular motion and eventually wandered off. We tried to get close, but the dogs made it nervous. Further down the trail we met up with the folks trying to re-claim the llama. They eventually did and the Amber Alert was cancelled. AzP&Y Another true story from the Arizona Trail...

    Double Down on Pigs

Christian, You bet man! Glad I could witness the UNICORN JAVY in person! It is one incredible sight to come up to a pig with the arrow perfectly placed in the skull cavity. I mean this arrow is exact center and burried! Way cool and I won't soon forget that PIG! The deer hunting was fun, that nice 2x2 was one that I would love to get an arrow into! Maybe again this weekend! Good luck on your deer hunt and thanks for sharing the years hunt stories and pictures with us! I don't know how your dad is going to top next year hunting pigs? That is some incredible string he's got going ! Congrats to you both! Doug AzP&Y

    Christmas Muley

It is true, they are too heavy to wear around the neck for any length of time and hoofing the hills can be tough with them. I believe you really need to keep the 12x56's and use them exclusively off the tri-pod and occassionally hand held if necessary for short viewing. Then when you get some $$ go ahead and also get pair of 10x42's. I think you need both, but the 12x56's are a must for long distance glassing. The Leupold wind river series in 10x42 is a great lightweight second pair or the Nikon Monach's in 10x42 are very nice as well (not sure of the weight diff on each of those pairs). Best of luck and I'll be behind the Monach's this weekend... AzP&Y
