From what he told me, their products are already certified under current regulations for livestock, but they have just never marketed them for livestock. So really there is No difference between a mineral lick for deer and a mineral lick for cows...

I just talked to an old friend that works for Evolved Habitats, the company that makes Deer Cane, and other flavored mineral blocks, like the one AZLance posted above. They were unaware of these new rules and potential loss of business in AZ. They had a company meeting, and will be adding to the words "Produced for the Livestock Industry" to the label of their wildlife products. This should make them legal for use in AZ. They said this will take some time to get this added to their label, and then get the product to market, but it is coming. This is good News!

Brian, My friend lives down near the San Pedro River, and hunts Feral Hogs. He puts corn out to bring the hogs in close to blinds. Can he continue to bait for the hogs? The Feral Hogs are a Non Game species, so I assume they are not Big Game either. Thanks in advance.

How will they enforce this? I have hunted unit 33 for 19 years now, and never had a Game and Fish officer check my license and tag. And in those 19 years, I have never seen a officer in the field away from his truck. The only way they will catch you, is if you put your feeder next to the road!

From what I have heard, G&F are actively tracking another Jag near Rosemont mine... How long before they trap and kill this one? The UofA and many of the people who were involved in Macho Bs killing are now trying to catch another one...

I couldnt agree more! And it makes me wonder why AZGFD would introduce such a devicive rule and split the hunters??? What is their motive?

I agree they both look like Jaguars to me. Both of them have tails like a mountain lion and they both look way too big to be a ocelot.

I think it is funny that Game and Fish has to rely on hunters for info and sightings of these rare cats... who are the real biologists and conservationists?

Hunt Arizona is a "guide", it is Not a scientific study! And as far as numbers in there being correct, says who? You have a un reliable source, who is not even required to report or report the correct numbers. Then you have Game Wardens who are pressured to squew their wildlife survey numbers to justify adding tags in a unit to "offer more oppurtunity" and of course bring in more revenue. Remember these are Government employees! You can make numbers look like anything you want... just look at the most recent Jobless numbers released by the whitehouse. And most hunters are slowly learning that just because they have a badge or a wildlife degree, dosent make what they say "Scientific fact". I have known people.in the department for years, and they will tell you off record that they are pressured costantly to make the outcomes "department friendly". They have been pressured to reccomend higher tag numbers in their unit even though they saw fewer animals on their air surveys. And they have to come up with some reason as to why they see fewer animals to back up their junk science. Just think before you bow down to the Game & Fish and their "facts".

Wasn't justifying the shooting, just pointing out the absurdity of the forest service rules... But common sense say that you don't leave your $30,000 rig out in the forest unattended for 4 days... You wouldn't leave your $ 1500.00 rifle laying out at a water hole for 4 days and expect to find it sill there 4 days later.

Well, the Forest Service considers it abandoned property if it is left for more than 72 hours, without permission. Maybe someone thought it was abandoned?... Just saying....
