    Coues in 36B

Well, I picked up some leftover tags for the Coues hunt in 36B for Nov 9th-15th. It will be my first time deer hunting, all I've shot in the past is dove, quail, and yote. I haven't had much time to scout, and ain't looking for anyone's spots, just have some questions about the general area... My grandpa was supposed to take me out to teach me, but he's just not as able as he used to be, so it looks like it will be just me and my buddy (who has no tags). Originally, I was looking at hunting just south of Arivaca Lake, but it seems as though I might be more successful around Peña Blanca, is this true? I'm looking specifically at areas off of Summit Mtwy, as, judging from the maps, it looks as though there are plenty of ridges to glass. I also have a question regarding glassing... I know to glass certain slopes at certain times of the day, but should I stay on the same ridge, or move around lunchtime?

I just might have to take you up on that, Prdatr. Thanks for the help, I actually might be leaving this afternoon to just camp out there tonight, as it beats leaving the house at 2:30 tomorrow morning. I'll have my girlfriend in tow, but she's quiet, has hunted with me before, and is content by just being out in the middle of nowhere. I'll give you a call later, I'll definitely be dropping by to say hi to yall.

Thanks everyone for the help. Everyone on here seems to really know what they're talking about, hopefully this will help me get a buck this weekend. I'll be out there by 4am on Friday morning, and I can't wait. The tripod and everything is already packed and ready to go, just need to pray for that shot. Sounds like my plan should be to simply find a nice ridge and get comfortable... Thanks again for the help.

Thank you, I've already been sifting through a lot of old posts, I just had these specific questions. I understand the need to glass different slopes based upon weather, my question is asking whether it is more effective to stay in one spot all day to keep movement minimal, or to move to a different glassing spot at midday.

    36B Nov. 9th Roll Call..

All I've done before is bird and javelina hunting, it'll be my first time hunting deer... Can't wait to get out there and see how it goes, school's been a pain and I ain't had time to scout, just praying for the best. If anyone has any tips about the unit they'd be willing to give up, PM me!
  6. I've lived in Tucson all my life, and haven't been hunting in years... I'm 17 years old, and just recently got my own shotgun to add to my collection (Rem 700 in .308 and a Sig 229 in .357 Sig). The last time I went, I was about 12, when my grandpa and I got a javelina here in Unit 33. Needless to say, I don't know a darn thing about dove hunting, but have gotten pretty good with my shotgun, and would love to try it out. If anyone is willing to let me go with them, or to share some good spots around Tucson/Marana, I'd appreciate it. I shoot often, and know my gun safety. Thank you for the help!
  7. Sounds like that'll be my plan, no class on Friday so I'll be headed out with a buddy of mine... I was reading something about some stock tanks off of 77 between Catalina and Oracle. Whats the best way to make sure I'm legal in where I'm hunting?
  8. I've got plenty of ammo stocked up... I know to set up near these spots, and hints for good spots around Marana? Ain't trying to steal your spot, just not so sure where to start here.
