I don't know exact odds for the muzzleloader but looking at the report if you put 27 late as 2nd choice with 8 points you will get that tag in the bonus pass for sure. Won't ever have a chance at the muzzy tag.

Some of the most hardcore hunters I know don't understand it. It's a pretty complex process when you look at the big picture. Even after studying it and looking at the numbers it's still tough to understand it all. So when some guys have some questions I dont find it surprising at all.

I agree it would be nice to be able to change something if wanted. A few friends of mine have messed up and put wrong hunt choices and realized after and couldn't do anything about it. Hope that didn't happen to you and you just decided on a different unit.

Don't know how much they charge but pronghorn guide service kills monsters every year. They have pronghorn hunting down to a science and guide most of the governors tags. Assume they are expensive but would be worth it.

Let's not forget the most lucky play ever that happened the play before that to even get them there. That play doesn't happen and they don't even have a chance to blow it like they did. But man was I glad to see that happen! Go Patriots!

I thought the same thing but then looking at it all those guys I mentioned had 23n as their first choice. That's why it didn't make sense. I guess if those guys had a second choice that put them in the bonus pass for that second choice they may have drawn that before they even had a chance at getting their first choice. But the out of state part makes sense if most of those guys with high bonus points were NR so they never had a chance after the guy with 20 drew it. Lots of different factors I guess! Confusing stuff. .

Hey Flatlander, quick question. Last night I was explaining to my dad about how the bonus pass works and was going through the draw report showing him the numbers because he had never seen it. He has 6 elk points and is thinking of going for 4b early archery which from looking at the bonus report he would be right on the verge of being guaranteed that tag right? Looks like 6 points last year some guys drew in the bonus pass. Second question is when I look at the bonus pass for 23n early archery last year some guy with 20 points drew then it appears that a guy with 18 points got skipped and then three guys with 16 points got skipped and then 2 guys with 15 put in as their first choice and only one drew and the last bonus pass tag went to a guy with 14 points. How in the world does that happen?

Yeah if the hunt is halfway decent it's not going in the third or fourth draw. Really tough cow hunts or limited opportunity hunts are about your only hope for 3rd and 4th pass. And there is a reason people don't want them. In the deer hunts there are plenty of coues tags that you could get in 3rd and 4th pass but why waste the bonus points when you can get them in the left over draw.

He finished his online course but then couldnt find a field day and his course expired (something about you must take the field day within 2 months of finishing the online course) So if you do end up doing it post it up on here or PM and I will make sure he gets up there to finish. Just wanted to share my first desert mule deer I've killed with my bow. Had a friend invite me down near Yuma and this guy showed up second morning while sitting water. Craziest kill shot I have ever seen and probably ever will see. Wish I would have had a camera to share the video. He came in and was drinking when I shot and missed the first time at 50 yards. He took off and stopped 20 yards later and couldn't see any danger so he came back for another drink. I adjusted and let it fly and it drilled him right in the shoulder. (After skinning I could see where my arrow grazed the edge of his shoulder blade so a little lower and he may not have died) When he got hit he went straight up in the air kicking and lost his balance and went head first into the drinker and went completely under and came flying out splashing water everywhere and went about 25 yards and died right there in sight. Was a wild ride for him! My friend said the buck must have wanted to be baptized before he passed so he made it happen haha

Thanks guys, yeah him going in the water was pretty crazy. I got lucky and sat the blind the evening before and then Monday morning I sat there and he came in around 8 AM. Only about 6 total hours of sitting when I killed him so wasn't too bad.
