    Unit 10 early rifle hunt

Agree with CWpredator. Those bulls would be scattered out either way. Bulls have been known to move 20-30 miles after they rub their velvet. That's why I've always though scouting all summer is sometimes a waste of time. Best time to scout is starting middle of August when they start moving and you can figure out where all those bulls moved to. But I'd you're in unit 10 I'm sure you'll be able to find plenty of good bulls for the hunt.

    FIRST ARCHERY ELK 4B

Had the same tag, definitely a tough year for the rut. Finally killed mine yesterday. Any bull with your bow out of 4b this year is plenty good enough.

Finally got it done this morning

I would have to agree that the hunt seems to be a bit early but even last year and the year past they seemed to be bugling much better. It was just too hot this year. The few mornings that it was cooler (below 50) it was like someone flipped a switch and they bugled good. If it was hotter than that in the morning, which it was 90% of the days they bugled very little and stopped bugling really early. My bull yesterday was going nuts but that's because there were 30 cows and 5 other bulls following him around I think. I think the rifle hunters are gonna have a great hunt because they are finally bugling well.

    Really? Really???

Sweet Bull and awesome load job on the jeep ... BY the way BC you were telling me last year that 3c does not have 350 class bulls anymore .... By the way there are a couple I have seen this significantly bigger , wonder if they will hit the ground. I'll be the first one to admit 3c has impressed me this year. Definite improvement from last year.

    Really? Really???

This is the bull and it scored 350". And the meat didn't spoil. The hunter is a guy from snowflake I know.

    Flagstaff help

That's just to kill. Helping someone pack out is different.Sadly it's still illegal even packing out. Making any money off an animal while in the field you have to have a guides license.

AT&T Service Coverage in the White Mountains???

I know they have a temp at&t tower in Heber right now at the fire station. Guess they are seeing how many people passing through the area have at&t and if they have enough they will put up a real tower. Not sure how far out that would help with signal where you are though.

    rut timing

Nothing in 4b as usual but 3c has been going well. Lots of bugles in the morning.

    rut timing

Where I have been it's definitely started. Bulls fighting and bugling their heads off. Earliest I remember it. Not sure the real big bulls have started getting cows yet though. Lots of smaller bulls running with the cows.

    Is Camouflage Necessary

I'd like to say it does because I have hundreds of dollars of it. But in reality I would say any dark colored clothing that had a pattern that's broken up rather than one solid color is probably just fine. My dad laughs at me because he says him and his dad wore jeans and t shirts their whole lives and killed more stuff than I'll dream of killing. No matter what you're wearing they will see you if you're moving. I think camo is necessary for turkey hunting though because they can see much better and can see in color unlike elk and deer.

    Dead head pick up question

Since it was hit by a train I think to be legal you would have to report to azgfd and they would probably give it to you. Was it far enough along that the antlers aren't rotting?

How much $$$ to find one?

I don't really understand why people get mad at other hunters for hiring a guide. People do it on regular hunts and Noone really cares but people get mad when an auction hunter does it. Would it be cool if they could do it all themselves? Yeah it would but realistically is it possible to kill a 436 inch bull or 150 inch coues without help? Maybe but probably not. I agree on the side that some guys just show up and shoot and it's kind of lame but in reality it's not a big deal. Although a lot of auction tag holders are rich I doubt they can just take off any given second to go hunt deer for three months. I know Shane is a dentist in Alaska and I don't think he would have many patients if he told them hey I need to leave for a couple months to scout for a deer hunt and kill one. They made their money and can spend it however they choose. 95% of us would kill to be in their spot with that kind of money.

    When will the rut end?

From what I have seen and I'm not saying this is correct everywhere but generally I've seen it get hot and heavy in late August when bulls start getting cows then it can slow down for a while, kick back up middle of September and go til middle-end of october. After that it's pretty hit and miss where I have hunted.

how big do you think this bull is now

We have pics of bulls just like that from June and by end of July maybe grew 10 inches. He didn't have much left after that pic.

    New Ruger LC9S 9mm $300

I bought this pistol for my wife for her birthday about two weeks ago. Bought from sportsman's for $375 and am selling for $300. She said she would rather have a bow. The gun has been shot 7 times (one magazine) so it's practically brand new. Comes with a 7 round mag, lock, and other random things I have no idea what they are. Comes with a little ruger carrying bag as well. Face to face only as I don't know laws on shipping a pistol. If it's legal to ship them let me know and we can go that route. Call or text Blake 928-240-3567
