Im assuming you meant to type because of thousands of tags there's not many deer rather than too many deer. You're gonna sit here and tell me because units like 36 have literally thousands of tags a year that's not effecting deer populations? But a few cats are killing them all? Stop living in your fantasy land. Lions don't kill nearly as many deer as the orange army every year. The unit the guys that have hounds hunt around here and have let females go the last 10 years has had the deer population sky rocket the last ten years. You can go see 100+ deer in a day if you want. But don't let a good story get in the way of facts.

Do you even know this dude?
-
It's not. Where we hunt and catch multiple lions a year and let them go there's more deer than you can ever imagine. I think you'd better look to giving out thousands of tags in every southern unit for that answer.

Average Joe is upset his spike buck is being spread all over the net. I'll let azgfd know we found who it was.

Man never realized how expensive it was to hunt down there for coues deer. Could have a fully guided/outfitted coues hunt in Mexico for that R100-C tag. -
You're right they don't. But the houndsman can definitely make a decision based on the sex of the lion in the tree. And exactly like you said because they like to trail any lion they like more females around to produce those lions.
-
I don't blame guys that just see a lion while out calling or hunting for shooting it. I would do the same. But when it comes to hounds and being able to choose that's a different story.
-
The reason most houndsman let them walk is because just like deer hunters want more deer, lion hunters want more lions. If a tom is killed a new Tom will quickly take his territory and breed the females. One female is gonna have atleast two or three kittens so lion numbers will increase rather quickly if people aren't killing females. I also believe lions get a bad rap that they are killing a deer a week so most hunters think they are gonna wipe out everything. I'm sure there are areas with too many lions that if left unchecked can devastate the deer population. But around here where most guys have let females go the last 10 years we haven't seen any noticeable effect on elk or deer populations. Sad part for those that like more deer and less lions there's not a whole lot they can do about getting rid of lions unless they get hounds. And then if they get hounds they will get the lion bug and want more lions haha. It's a vicious cycle.

Wanted to share some pics and the story of my friend Brett's (Couser4) lion we killed Friday. While helping out on some late elk hunts this week I found a lion kill by complete luck. Knowing it was fresh I put up a trail camera and checked it the next day. I had some friends with hounds there and we saw the lion had been in at 130 that morning and we were there at 630. We gave it a go but we're unsuccessful in catching it. The next morning we tried again and the camera showed the lion had been there two minutes before we showed up! We let the dogs out and very quickly had the lion treed. We were guessing the lion to be a female judging off the pictures but at the tree was a nice big tom. Brett decided he wanted to shoot him and two perfect shots later the lion was down. He was much bigger than we originally judged. I decided to leave the camera on the kill to see what came by and I checked it today and there was another lion on it! Looking back through the pics we decided we were right that the original lion pics we got were of a female. The Tom we caught literally must have been just coming through to check the female and got caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time and went up a tree. Great timing for us and now there's still a big female around to attract more toms into the area. All in all it was a great hunt and very interesting the way everything played out.

Thought I'd share some more of our luck this morning. My brother in law and myself went varmint calling and at the 15 Mark of our first stand here came a lion! It didn't give us a good shot as it sat back about 100 yards in some thick brush. It finally made its way up the hill away from us so we called my buddy with the dogs and we had it treed in no time. Turned out to be a smaller female but was still cool to have called her in. She lived to see another day.

I'd estimate around 150. He was a nice mature one for sure. Up here they max out around 160-165. Haven't seen any much bigger than that. The kill was a cow elk but the female we didn't catch killed her. I'd imagine this cat wouldn't have had any problem killing whatever he wanted including a big bull elk if he was feeling crazy.

Looking to buy some kuiu attack pants in original Verde color. I'm not a huge fan of the Verde 2.0 as it had a lot more tan in it. Size 38 if anyone has any let me know. Thanks

Yeah that would work. PM me with what you want to do. If you pay for it and bring it up, take what you want and then I can pay you back for whatever is left.

I'll take it

G&F voted: three calls are a thing of the past.

And it should atleast cut off a couple days for the results and save them a lot of headache of calling a couple thousand people and sorting through all kinds of cards and all that. Also will probably be a benefit to them because everyone will want to buy their point guard just in case their card gets screwed up. Generally when azgfd makes a decision it's fairly easy to follow it down and see where it makes them some money. -

That would have to happen like within a one or two day period for it to hurt you. Generally they allow you to update your card info up until Thursday and then start charging Friday. So the only way you could get rejected is if you didn't update your card in time. -
Well thanks for the tease. .
