What? -
Every unit can have a random big bull. We're talking the average elk that comes from 4b. I've had multiple cameras across the whole unit the last 4 years and help a lot of guys on that hunt.
-
Thats for the Malay gap unit that doesn't produce big Bulls. Very tough hunt. Dry lake, hilltop and nine mile are the good tags and they cost around $30,000- $40,000. They only give 2 tags per unit I believe and with so many rich guys hunting it already you can't even get on the waiting list. You have to hire a san carlos guide on the trophy hunts as well and you pay a per inch trophy fee for a bull over 380 BC. I know this because my friend lives there and works for the tribe. The white mtn Apache costs $20,000 but they give out way too many tags and it's hurting their big elk population. There are a few monsters still killed there but San Carlos wins on the amount of big Bulls by far.

Well I never thought I'd see a set of antlers like this let alone have the chance to purchase them. The set is unreal weighing 37.5 pounds total and as is with some chewed tines scores 395 without a spread credit. We've estimated about 4 inches missing from chewed off point tips putting him close to 399-400 inches before a spread. Obviously no idea what his spread is but we're talking a potential 435-440 inch typical bull with 61 inch beams. H1 of 11 inches. Always the what ifs but if he were to have a seventh on his right side he could gross near 450" and net in the high 430's. As is with a 40 inch spread he nets around 419". Unbelievable bull. Someone is going to pay some ridiculous money to hunt him this next fall on the San Carlos.

I'll be back in town Monday or Tuesday I'll bring him along. -
Got anything new? You've posted the same link like 3 times already to a story about a bull killed 5 years ago. The only high 300's-400 bull ever killed in the unit.

R12-4-303. Unlawful Devices, Methods, and Ammunition 4. An individual shall not use edible or ingestible substances to aid in taking big game. The use of edible or ingestible substances to aid in taking big game is unlawful when: a. An individual places edible or ingestible substances for the purpose of attracting or taking big game, or b. An individual knowingly takes big game with the aid of edible or ingestible substances placed for the purpose of attracting wildlife to a specific location. 5. Subsection (A)(4) does not limit Department employees or Department agents in the performance of their official duties. 6. For the purposes of subsection (A)(4), edible or ingestible substances do not include any of the following: a. Water. b. Salt. c. Salt-based materials produced and manufactured for the livestock industry. d. Nutritional supplements produced and manufactured for the livestock industry and placed during the course of livestock or agricultural operations. That whole law falls under "taking" big game. Trail cam pics aren't taking big game. Throw some corn out if you want as long as it's just for pictures. I'm sure guys will come on and argue with me but read the law exactly as written and it clearly says unlawful when taking big game.
-
The way the law is written they can't do anything to you no matter what you put out unless you plan on hunting there. If I'm a photographer and want pictures of elk they can't tell me I can't. What you have is salt even though it is apple flavored salt the regs don't say anything to say you can't use apple flavored salt. It just says you can use salt which is what you have. So technically with what you have you could even hunt over that. If you're simply wanting pictures they can't stop you from putting out whatever you want.

These locals are all butt hurt because Jay Scott blabbed about how his buddies kid smoked a stud in the unit on his podcast.Nah not worried about that. It won't take these guys long to figure out 4b is a tough hunt with top end bulls in the 340's with the occasional 350. Most bulls killed 300 or less. And don't want you lying to these guys about where you're hunting
-
Ok cool. We're they in a somewhat easy place to get to? Just don't wanna have to send him into some nasty canyon to get them.
-
If you were on the San Carlos then yes. Unless you're being sarcastic then no.
-
Send me the coordinates I'll have my buddy that lives there go pick them up for you.
-
And if two or three bulls over 360 in the last 5 years is monsters coming out of there every year then yeah 4b is awesome. Expect lots of 300-310 bulls and smaller with the possibility of a 340 if you hit it hard. Lots of people out during season and not a whole lot of places to get away from roads.
-
Don't believe it. Flatlander thinks he's sneaky. He will be across the road in 3c or up in 9

Im not. He is my taxidermist but no relation. -
More than any of us have. They have their set price and then I believe so much per inch after 380 or 390"
-
that guys name is Dan Agnew and the other is Casey Brooks. The hunt there nearly every year and kill 400+ bulls.
-
A 392 bull is the norm there. A 470 typical would be amazing but tough to believe without seeing. Although this bull I have had he sprouted a 7th on the right and depending on width could have been pushing 450 gross. I guess if each point was another inch long he'd be right in the 465-470 range so I guess it's a possibility down there.

What is this? Marker for buried treasure?

Maybe type in the coordinates from there and see if something comes up on Google. -

Wow that's interesting. Not a clue what it would be. Maybe a geocache or something. -
Sounds a little out there just because nothings ever been near that big but guess we will never know.
-
photos of sheds or trail cam pics of the bull?

Haha these won't get sold. I'll keep them. But they are quite valuable.
