Question on S/A Medalist Bell and Carlson or HS precision pro Rem 700
bonecollector777 posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Been Looking at these stocks pretty extensively. About $70 more for the HS. I'm having a gunsmith do the work on threading and chambering the barrel. Question I have is what length barrel shank is the perfect fit for either of these stocks? If anyone has one any way to measure it? I am getting a fairly lightweight barrel that comes with a 2.750" shank and want to know if I need to have the Smith cut a little off to make it fit just right or if just threading the blank as is will work. Thanks for the help. -

I went with the HS. Got the lightweight one that's about 2 inches shorter overall length so hope it turns out nice. -

Also since I trust your judgment after seeing the sweet rifles you make and shoot, on the HS stocks I've come down to the pss045 and the pss 094. Looking for lightweight and those are the lightest. My barrel is going to be .600 at 24 inches and the 045 is made for a .650 and the 094 is made for .590 at the muzzle. 045 is slightly heavier with a full length bedding block and 094 is about 4 oz lighter with a half length bedding block. Think the 4 oz is worth not having the bedding block into the forend? Or better to go for the stiffer stock? -

I've seen guys open up the barrel channel at the end but it's also fairly easy to open the area where it begins to taper down? -
They killed him last night. My buddy spotted him near timber camp and he got away again and somehow San Carlos police found him again and got in a shoot out and killed him. Said Mexican. I'd guess he was trying to make it back to Mexico. Glad they got him. Should hit the news soon.

I've researched and researched and just can't make the decision. I'd originally wanted to make a 6.5 creedmoor for my brother for his sheep hunt. Then my dad suggested 7mm08 is very similar if not slightly better. What's your guys thoughts? This will be a fairly lightweight rifle in the 7.5 pound range so don't know if that should have anything to do with the choice. Let me know your thoughts on which one. He isn't a reloader so no wildcat caliber suggestions please.

I've been reading those ADL stocks can be a pain to inlet how you want them. So just a heads up on that. -
7mm-08 vs 6.5 creedmoor
bonecollector777 replied to bonecollector777's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Thanks for all the input guys. Decided to go for the 6.5. All in all seemed like no matter how much I researched they were about equal. Came down to 6.5 possibly being a little more friendly to reload and possibly being able to handle longer bullets better and slightly less recoil. Also 6.5 just seems cooler for whatever reason. Guess Hornady did a good job marketing them! -
He drew one of the first two choices. While he may have drawn while putting a 3-5 choice it had no effect on him drawing. But he got lucky and that's all that matters!

It's never Friday. Plan to suffer over the weekend. Calling Tuesday.

Anyone have any semi custom/custom 6.5 creedmoor rifles they are looking to sell? My brother is looking to get a rifle for his sheep hunt later this year. Text or message me here. 928-240-3567

They gave me your tag. Thanks.

My brother needs to buy a lottery ticket. Excited to get to be a part of a sheep hunt though! And either a strip or 3c deer tag for him.

A buddy of mine who is getting older gave this to me as a gift. He's convinced they are a valuable collectors item but I don't have a clue. Sometimes peoples stuff has sentimental value so they believe it's worth more to them than actual value. Just seeing if anyone here has more knowledge of knife values than myself. Doesn't appear that they were ever touched. All the boxes and manuals are there as well.

I'll check them and see where they were made. They were made in the late 80's is about all I know.
