17 won't guarantee any early rifle hunt, would guarantee a 22 muzzleloader, couple more years could get a 3b muzzleloader. Everything else would be 4-5 years out. Archery you could have just about every tag but 23n, 23s, and unit 9. Few guys drew unit 10 with 17 last year in the bonus pass but not many.

They did drop tags by 15 this year but last year 24 guaranteed a 10 tag so I'm gonna say you're guaranteed this year. Be sure thats what you want because you're pretty much this year or next in the running for any tag you want.

You'll draw 8 for sure especially with 50 more tags this year.

I don't have unit 9 odds since last year was unit 10s turn. But I do know unless you have 20+ points for elk you're lo9king at 1-2% odds.Unit 9 lope 1.7% with 7 points.

yeah when I say 11 points you need to have that many already not including the current draw. But knowing that be ready to hunt elk this year if unit 1 is one of your first or second choices.

Odds are probably better than what I posted since tags went up by 50. These numbers are based off last year's tags.

I may be wrong but actually think the world record non typical archery bull was killed there a while back. I talked to the guy that killed it last year while I was in Williams and thought he said he was in 8.

It was guaranteed for residents. So either you're a NR or didn't have 11 points. Check your points for me right now and we will see what happened. Have a feeling you didn't have 11 last year.

Not a waste of time if younwant to get drawn and just want meat in the freezer like he said but def a waste of points if you have em. OP you have to decide which you want. Meat hunt or build BPs. Cant have both. Ive gotten drawn several times on 2-3 choices but will only happen on limited op hunts. drawing a tag on a 2md choice is a whole different ballgame than drawing a tag on a 3rd choice. Only the worst of the worst hunts get drawn on 3-5th choices.

Unit 8 you're guaranteed with 8 points. 5bs had a few guys draw in the bonus pass with 8 last year but showing 18.3% chance of drawing in the random pass and 23.4% chance to draw in the bonus pass. Antelope unit 10- 3.7% Unit 7- 4.3%

tttI don't have cow odds but looking at draw reports bonus pass was 6 points last year. 107 people applied for it as a first choice and 157 as second choice with 5 points and 21 people drew with 5 points. So odds aren't super high but you'll be guaranteed to draw it next year.

Late or early? Early you have a snowballs chance in hel1. Late you're not guaranteed 23 but have 14.1% and 22 depending on north or south and which hunt you're guaranteed on some and 38% on others.

Tell me what cow hunt you want and I can get a general idea of the odds of drawing it but as mentioned you would lose your points. As a NR I would say using points on a cow isn't your best bet. You're two years away from that 6a early bull tag might as well wait.
