Anyone else hunt the north end of unit 23 and everywhere you go you hear or see them f#cking hounds. Every time deer started to come in dogs started howling and deer disappeared. Wasn't that good of a weekend for me. Will try again but may have to hunt in another area of the unit.

I'm sorry you feel that this thread is a cry me a river,But i put my time in scouting this area for months and i was just venting,I also know guys that run hounds and i like them to.

Good luck. Don't get me wrong i knew it was also bear season cause i have that tag to,but dogs ruined it cause i was seeing bear to till then.

We where there also had turkeys and deer coming in but once opening morning came they all went else where with some here and there but no opportunities to shot.

Thanks, I will probably put in the southern half might be easier on my son and i till i figure these little ghost's out. The one buck that stood there for about 30 seconds at 500 yards would of scored 100+, We should've tried to shoot maybe but i thought we could close the gap. Maybe next time.

This is my first post been on here for a year just reading and learning,joined about a month or so ago. My son (12) and I got a December rifle whitetail and i have never hunted deer in this unit just elk, I have been scouting for deer why i have been on elk hunts with friends and will scout again on my sons Jr.elk hunt in 6A, But i could use some hints,advice,and just a lead in the right direction,not looking for someone's honey hole just some tips. Thanks to all the had sent me private messages to help me out, Me and my son didn't get to fill the tags . Opening weekend was miserable with the weather Saw elk, muleys and coyotes. We had to leave opening weekend cause of all the snow and rain. Next weekend finally found some whitetail does and i believe a buck but not 100% sure. Then we glassed a buck about 500 yards out i wanted to get closer so we moved in and lost him,Last weekend of hunt sucked didn't even find a deer weather was getting bad this evening so i left. I believe 7 days of hunting and i seen only 2 whitetail bucks pretty disappointing for a trophy hunt as everyone calls it. Why do they call this a trophy hunt or rut hunt? I didn't see any rutting going on at all. Bucks where almost dormant. Plus i'm not that great of a hunter

Hunted in 6A and seen a mule deer buck with 4 does, wish it was a white tail buck. Lots of snow had to leave the area took 6 hours to get everyone out in are camp on Saturday.

congrats, We couldn't even find a bull in 23,Once the snow hit a week before the hunt they where gone in the area's we scouted for 2 months.
