    2012 Junior Deer Hunt

I’m with you on this one. I think this a great opportunity for kids to get out and hunt somewhere with such high success. When I used to have that tag it was a blast going up there for it. I find it a shame that all the trophy hunters and AGFD have allowed the number of tags for the JR hunt up there to drop so much. Congrats on the successful hunt!

    Penalty for Accidental Spike Shooting?

On the severe end they could take your rifle, hunting license and give you some stiff fines. On the other end they might only take the elk and your tag and be done with it. I know someone who reported themselves last year for accidentally shooting a spike. G and F just confiscated their tag and the spike without any other repercussions. year for accidentally shooting a spike. G and F just confiscated their tag and the spike without any other reprocussions.

    AZGF to ban salt/baiting

If the AZ Game & Fish department will make up facts and use junk science to push the baiting ban thru, who's to say that they haven't been lying to us for the past few years by fudging the hunt success numbers and wildlife surveys? I smell a rat, and don't trust them anymore. I have heard some inside rumors that this has been going on for sometime now. AGFD doesn't make these number up. They are based on the hunter survey cards that every one with a tag gets. Its the people who don't fill them out or lie on them that fudges the numbers up.
  4. Pretty good Article about coues deer in this months issue of Successfull Hunter Magizine. They even interviewed Amanda about CWT.com. Just thought I would share this with everyone. picture on page 3 http://www.riflemagazine.com/magazine/PDF/sh60partial.pdf

    7E Rifle Cow. Season Complete

Well this elk completes my big game season. I was lucky enough to take this elk last Saturday. After having a bull hunter shoot a nice bull in my go-to spot opening night I moved to my back up spot for the second day. We were all set up and kind of getting discouraged because we were not hearing near the amount of bulls bugling as we did opening day. Then it happened. A heard of Cows got buggered from someone above us and come running full speed right at us. They must have caught my movement of me putting in the ear plugs because this one stopped 11 yards from me and I was able to drop her in her tracks. This kept me at 100% success for elk tags in my life (6) and allowed me to take my third big game animal this year at less than 15 yards (javalina and deer were the others; both archery). The real money shot

    Close calls

I think it is 10-15% of tags go to out of state applicants. I've found that alot of them seem to be clustered up because they all call the unit WM and he tells them all the same area.

I met a guy who lost one yesterday around Mayson Tank off Schnebly Hill road. If this is the area you found it in send me a PM and I will tell the guy to get in contact with you

2012 Archery Season in the books

Props for tagging him. Alot of hunters out there would have left to try and hunt another deer.

    ruger 1911

I bought one a couple months ago and love the thing. It is more accurate than I was expecting (with the right reloads).Factory trigger is crisp and has a very light pull. Also it looks sweet. I like the black trim on stainless gun. Wood grips look good too. Great gun for the price I got if for.

    Question from a Kid

Agreed. I would shoot it to make sure it doesnt stay wounded and if the other hunter comes along I would give him the option to tag it
  14. I have lived in Flagstaff my whole life and never seen a whitetail in 11M...until this year. I went into the season with the thought of anything with antlers within archery range I will take. Well the first thing that stepped into range was a Coues! Almost ran me over. On opening night he walked up to me and gave me a 13 yard frontal shot. Has anyone else shot a whitetail in 11M or know anyone who has? EDIT: Justposted a picture I got of him preseason. This Picture was over a mile from where I shot him.
