Draw Question - third choice
mpriest replied to fisher_hunt's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
You could potentially draw it but it is unlikely. My dad last year drew a cow tag on his fourth choice that only a a 70% draw odds that year -
That bear in your first picture looks kinda funny with all that fur around its neck. Makes the neck look bigger than the body. Cool pics though

I saw these prints about a month ago. They looked pretty big compared to most of the prints I have seen. My leatherman is 8" long and 4" at the pliers.

Yes because how many times do you get to shake a presidents hand! The bragging rights are worth it alone

I agree with Becker on this one. It would be cool to see sheep back in the Catalinas and eventually have another huntable population. I heard that one of the main reasons the sheep died out was due to the spread of disease from domestic sheep and goats. When I lived in Tucson I didn't see much domestic livestock still around that area. Also you have to consider predator/prey ratios. If you have a small amount of sheep (prey) and a high number of predators (lions) the sheep will not be able to build their numbers due to predation. Therefore you have to knock down the number of predators until the sheep numbers grow large enough that they are able to sustain their population with a higher level of predation. With alternative prey species in the area I think if would help the sheep because it would allow the lions to fulfill their appetites with something other than sheep and hopefully reduce predation. As far trail closures go I have nothing. Yes it sucks to lose a recreation area but we have to make sacrifices in order to preserve wildlife and their habitats. After all we humans are the ones who caused them to die off in the first place. Hopefully the closures will only be seasonal during the time lambs are dropping.

I have managed the double triple in my lifetime but the elk and and mulie sets were hard white. also the mulie set was just a spike set but a set none the less. It took me 3 years to find them all.

I shot a cow elk with a broudhead ob her spine. It was all healed over and was just a big ball of scar tissue

That was my brothers truck if the sticker was centered at the top of the windshield and was white.

Agreed. Unless you are planning to go to Page for some reason your route won't be affected. Good luck. IMO one of the best Jr. hunts

Now those people know how to car camp!

Good idea but I think you would get a lot more unhappy hundres because of the big cut in tags

I think it is a desert spiny lizard. There are a few subspecies so I could be wrong.

Here's another thread on this subject. Pretty funny really. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/39537-petas-drone-hunting-the-hunter/page-2?do=findComment&comment=369772

10 years after these big fires there are always way more deer and elk that use the areas than before.... just saying there are some unintentional benefits to people's carelessness.

my brother uses a Rock River upper. he realy likes it and it shoots nice tight groups.

I bolt my security box to the tree with lags. That way they have to get into the security box to remove it from the tree. It is also pretty light with only 2 lags and a socket wrench. Just another option for you

Made this last Sunday. I added green beans, broccoli, carrots, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts to the recipe. Turned out pretty good. I had to use green curry paste as well. Couldn't find the yellow stuff. Next time I am going to use 2 cans of coconut milk to make it a little more saucy with the added veggies.

Not for me. I got into them friday morning and this morning but they flew out of the roost in a direction I wasn't expecting and were almost silent when they hit the ground. Never had a bird respond or show any interest in calls either.

This looks amazing. I'm going to make it this weekend. Did anyone ever make it? How was it?

I heard G&F wasnt inforcing it as well. I also heard that there is only one Forest Service LEO for the entire Coconino Forest so ....

From my understanding random numbers are generated just like a lottery. The very first application drawn gets #1, second app gets #2 and so on. Each bonus point gets you an extra ticket in the pool so you have a better chance at getting drawn for a better "randomly assigned number." Unless you have enough for the bonus pass which I still don't understand how that part works.

In order to increase the antelope herds there needs to be several things done. The main problems are fences, habitat loss, and predation. With the limited habitat antelope we have in the state to begin with we as hunters and stewards of the land need to do a better job of preserving it and making more suitable for the animals that live there. We need to do a better job of modifying fences to allow antelope permeability across them; stop building houses and roads in small isolated patches of habitat; let fires burn to increase forage production and slow down juniper encroachment. If all these things were being done we could have the same number of tags AND have an increasing population of antelope. Until then we can only do the best we can with what we are given. just my opinion.

A loyalty point is an extra bonus point. You get a loyalty point if you put in for a species for 5 consecutive years. If you fail to put in for one year you lose your loyalty point and have to start the process over again
