  3. Nice! Always a good time watching the little ones get some birds. I miss living in Tucson just for dove season. The best day I ever had I limed out in 10 shots in half an hour. All the birds went south already where I'm at.

    Velvety deer for 2013

Well it took me 6 days of hunting and a lot of debating with myself whether I should shave or not but I finally got the job done on Saturday night. I was sitting a blind that I had drew on a nice buck the night before but never got a shot at while my brother was sitting a ridge he could glass from. He called and told be he had three bucks down below him so I packed my gear up and ran up the hill. By the time I got there they were bedded down across a ravine only 120 yards away. I left my pack with him and began the stalk. About an hour later I was 45 yards from him while he was in his bed. I was hiding behind a rock but the angle was bad and I had some brush between me and him so i decided to back out and re-position myself. Another half hour later I was 40 yards away but I still needed to get up another 10 yards to get a shot. The bucks got up and began to feed around so I picked up the pace to cover the last 10 yards. I watched them feed around for 5 minutes until this guy finally gave me a 40 yard shot. He was quartering to me so I hit him just in front of the lead shoulder blade and the broadhead hit the opposite humorous and stopped. He went 60 yards and piled up and had a massive blood trail. This was my first time using shwackers and i'm pretty impressed. My entry hole was 3.5 inches long. We cut and wrapped him on Sunday morning and he is now frozen in my freezer ready to make lots of burritos! The pack out

    Swhacker Broad Heads

Here is the entry hole from my swhacker this year. There was no exit hole because my arrow center punched the opposite humerus and stopped dead. The 3.5" entry hole was more than enough for an awesome blood trail

    Opening weekend Flagstaff area

I think it is a combination of these two things along with the forests being too thick. I always see more deer in woods that have been thinned with more understory

    Do beards provide camo?

Im sitting here in my blind with lots of time to think about thinks. One thought that ran through my head was "I need to shave tonight before my girlfriend gets back from her work trip." Then the next thought that ran through my mind was maybe my face stands out less with my beard and I am more camouflaged. I have now put some serious thought into this and was wondering what everyone else's opinion on this was? ....and now it is starting to rain on me so maybe my beard will help shed some water and keep my face warmer...

    Do beards provide camo?

So after not having anything happen in 5 days of hunting I am going to shave. I was thinking about shaving earlier today and tonight I got to draw on a buck so maybe if I actually shave I will get to close the deal.

    Opening weekend Flagstaff area

Saw quite a few deer around flag over the weekend. Around 15 deer (3 bucks) and a bear Saturday morning. Had a couple bucks in close but never gave me a good shot.

Yep i sat out in it for 4 hours today and didn't even see a deer. I think its keeping them bedded down pretty good. Glad its raining though.

    3c question

I would come up with a different plan. If it rains enough to fill those tanks there will be water everywhere and the elk won't be coming to water. Just my opinion. I would follow bugles or scout out areas they are moving through. Good luck

    Weird deaths!

I was dove hunting down by Tucson about 4 years ago. I saw a dove flying on a beeline right for me. As it got close I drew my gun and swung on it. It saw me do this and decided to make some evasive maneuvers only to fly right into a power line and decapitate itself. I bagged it without even firing a shot

    new to bow hunting!

I have hunted in Walmart camo for years. I don't think what pattern you wear matters. As long as you are still and keep your scent down wind you will be fine. I have had a lot of animals really close and even taken a few in jeans and a brown T-shirt. Good Luck
  21. I gave up sitting water in the northern country a while ago because of all the monsoon moisture. I plan to spot and stock and sit trails in funnel areas I found. Good luck

I think so. I remember something that said if it got approved, it wouldn't take effect until January 1st
