After finally slipping an arrow in this summer bear,,,, I had no idea how i wanted to mount this guy, But i wanted to do something different with it and finally decide that i hadn't seen many bear shoulder mounts.... So a shoulder mount it was.... and boy did ScottyBoy work his magic on this one.... thanks for another great mount Scotty, There is not a better felling then knowing your taxidermist is going to put out as much effort as you did to get that animal on the ground...

thanks kieth!! i just sent scotty the part of the hide that was needed to do the shoulder mnt and had a buddie of mine tan the rest for me... not to sure what im going todo with the rest of the hide yet but im sure all think of something cool... Cody, what measurements did your skull ultimately score? And did you ever measure the length of your bear? i never measured the total length... and i have not got it scored officialy yet but it will go just over 16..

me and my dad picked up the primos vision ground blind from cabelas they go on sale some times for 129... has enough room for 2 people... good shooting windows. The only bad thing is both mine and my dads blinds zippers suck...

Baning baiting won't bring the high % of deer killed during the Archery season.

Yeah ... 338's are less affected by the wind as well ... especially getting up around 300 grains. One of the hunters I greatly respect swears by 338's, whether in a .338-06 (his prefered all around rifle), a .338 Win Mag or any of the bigger .338 Mags (which he has a few of). High energy at distance and less drift ... that's his reasoning. Keep 'em coming folks ... I like the 415 grain Gold Tip comment too ... hadn't even thought of that, but there is "long range" in that venue as well. I go 28" Easton Axis 340 FMJ's with 100 Grain Montec's ... but my long range there stops at about 45 yards ... just don't like shooting farther than that when it comes to game ... targets a bit further, but they don't jump the string +1 anything past 45 is long range in the stick and string world... 45 is my limit on any game... i rather be good then lucky...

The sad part of this is that there are some older hands in one of the pics, its a shame they let this punk do this... i know if that was me the next two pics would be me getting my A** kicked by the older hands......... its a shame they don't bring these guys up to respect other people stuff... just my opinion..
