I did this same thing last year on one of my rem. 700's. I took a very small drill bit and drilled a small hole in the broken screw. Then took a small nail slightly larger than the hole and tapped it in the hole. Used a pair of pliers and twisted it out. It wasn't tight at all and came out easy.

Same here, sent a scope in for repair because it wouldn't hold zero. They sent me a loaner while it was being repaired. Great customer service but like mentioned time of year affects turnaround time.

Beat him/ her to it come opening morning and its all yours. I'd probably video the encounter because you know there is going to be one. If all goes well he will understand and move on. If he's confontational you have it on film. Maybe you two could come to an agreement and share it? Another option is to leave him a note with your # and work it out prior to the hunt. If he's not reasonable about it, set the blind on fire and find another hole. :-D

I try to go as light as possible, every ounce counts. I use a cateyes hat with three led bulbs in the brim. Its always with me and readily available. I then carry a mini mag in my pack as a back up. All this for under $25.

I wouldn't use anything less than AR500. Mild steel is too soft and will dimple or penetrate with those calibers. AR500 is more expensive but worth the extra money. The Gong sold at sportsmans is made from ar500, I beleive? I have shot that particular one with a 300win mag at 300yds with no issues.

Slik 330proez, they are strictly a tripod manufacturer. I found this one to be really light for not being carbon fiber. The head that comes with this one is really well made as well.
