Quail season is coming
AZ8 replied to Coues assassin's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Looking forward to it! Although, we usually wait a week or two as it's still a bit too hot. Sure wish they'd move the season forward a bit. Start later in October and end later in Feburary. As it stands now, the season ends right at the best time in the desert with the cool afternoon temps! -
Blue Grouse Hunting?'s
AZ8 replied to Couzer's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Don't hunt them in 4A, 5A or 31. Still off limits. -
I think it's time for this!

Pics are still there. However, when you select 'new images' you get an error. Must be having issues. http://www.azgfd.net/photos/index.php

About 2 hours into the season and no bulls yet? C'mon guys!! Lol No tag, so some of us are stuck living vicariously with those tag holders out in the field.

Unfortunately, many people have forgotten. People are too busy now. They have their iPhones and iPads. The daily musings of Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus are far more important. Logging onto Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have become an addiction. Just 13 years out and millions of Americans have lost the way. These images should never be forgotten. Millions have chosen to forget or simply don't care anymore. May their memories be eternal.

Had my highest one day total ever at my house. Been here at my house 15 years and have never seen rain like this. All this fell in about 10 hours. A little over 4.20" recorded.

What a great hunt! Thanks for sharing. Incredible pronghorn!

As I understand it, they do accept velvet entries as part of their records program, but to be considered for the world record it would have to be stripped and sent to panel. Either way, it's a stud buck!

Wow. If the score holds, it will shatter the current record by almost 10 inches!

Sounds like people had good results. Glad to hear. It was our worst opener! I have no idea where the birds went. This spot always produces, yet I think we saw maybe 50 birds total! Weird. We stuck it out, hoping they would eventually come. But by noon the heat was too much and I called No Mas! My 14 year streak of limiting out on opening day......down the drain! Took for granted the birds would be there. Guess you have to scout for dove too! Lol

I'll be up at 3:30. Going to pick up my brother and niece and should be at our spot around 5am. -
you mainly see whitetail in there up high ? what about mules and elk ? bear? I've seen both. More mule deer, but I've never actively hunted coues in there so never really glassed for long periods. No elk. You would have to got deeper into the Mazatzal wilderness for bear. I've only seen one. Lots of lion sign tho!

Yup. It's pretty rugged country way back in there. November 2010, a hiker went missing and his remains still haven't been found. Vehicle was found at the trailhead. Friends and family assumed he headed for Sheep Mountain based on previous notes and postings. They searched for months. Sad deal. Anyways....just a side note to that area. Beautiful country, but rugged!

That road ends up at the Mount Peeley trailhead. It's a very popular hike and starting point for both Peeley and Sheep Mountain. Especially when the weather cools. I hunt coyotes back in there. Lots of people on the weekends.
