A Killer in the Family.Robert Mitchum played Gary Tyson What an easy prison break, his sons just smuggled guns into the prison in ice chests on family picnic day. Those guys were savages. Killing that young Marine and his wife and young child. And that couple on their honeymoon. That was a long time ago but I still remember the intense manhunt.

Danny Ray Horning. Guy was a nut. Media turned him into a hero.

Ok cool. I'll leave it out a see how it goes!

I usually have my cameras up in the high country and in the pj's. Last month decided to put one out at one of my quail spots since I seem to jump deer while chasing birds. So I was curious and set one up in May. This area has seen 115+ temperatures all week. Not much cover so camera is pretty much exposed all day. Does this intense heat affect the memory card or camera in any way? Thinking I might go pull that camera if need be. Thanks.

No. More like above the headwaters of fossil creek.... Calf pen canyon

260 is e+w so it has to be n or s. Sounds like north from reading here. I think Mulepackhunter is correct. It's right at the 260/87 junction down in the canyons.

No. Those are hot spots picked up by the thermal satellites. The fire perimeter is depicted by the black lines.

Surprised that guy tapped out after only one night. Guess those bears spooked him a bit.

Sounds like they're going to let it burn as a managed fire. Potential area of 54,000 acres. Pictures show a low intensity fire just creeping along the forest floor. That's a good type fire. http://azdailysun.com/news/local/letting-lightning-fires-burn-a-benefit/article_469b69d4-9717-5bb1-bb78-c090148c1740.html

The managment leadership at Colt leaves a lot to be desired. They also filed for Chapter 11 back in 1992.

Florida drivers are the worst! Was visiting family years ago and I thought I'd never make it back home to AZ. Those people ignore ALL traffic laws. It's basically a free for all. Haven't been back since.

Do you agree with G&F forcing kids to take Hunter Safety???
AZ8 replied to Big Browns's topic in Youth Hunters
I think you're stuck on the word "force" when it comes to hunter ed. Maybe your kids heard you say that word and now have a negative connotation with taking the hunter ed class. Somewhere, somehow they picked up this attitude. No offense, but kids repeat what mom and dad say. I'd approach it differently: "Hey son, before I got to drive this truck to our favorite camping spots, I had to first take a class and pass a test before they let me. Now, since I passed this test, I can take you and your mom camping, fishing and hunting anytime, anywhere!" -

Yes. I've gone through two. One in 1979 and the other 2010. I think it's an important step as a youngster. Although there were several adults pursuing their hunter ed point in my 2010 class, the curriculum and teachers were geared for the kids. Had a great group of young boys and girls in that class. They enjoyed the field day. I would encourage them. -
Is that 300 Win Mag sighted in?

Since I live close to the Mesa office, decided to do a "drive by" on my way home from work. Lol Not bad. I'd say maybe 10 cars in the parking lot. Of course if this was the elk deadline that parking lot would be full. I've seen it then. Anyways....just a random, useless observation from out here in Mesa!

Hey Bob, looks like another chance at some unsual June rain!
-
I headed north on 87 this afternoon and it rained from my house in Mesa all the way to Flagstaff. A nice gentle, drizzly rain. The desert and forest look great! Felt like mid July rather than early June. Nice little bonus before the real heat kicks in.

Catalina Mountain sheep relocation: Good Video!

I read an article a week or so ago and it stated that the rams are breeding and lambs born so far having a 100% survival rate! Sounds like the herd is adjusting to their new home. Very positive report. -
Nothing wrong with a beer....or two during the summer.
