Don't cut meat until rigor mortis has passed. Usually after 24 hours or so. Butchering while in rigor mortis is about the worse thing to do. I usually wait until day 2 before any cutting.

Yup! I'll be leaving Friday after work and joining my friend and his family. They have a couple tags in camp and I'll be there to help. Looking forward to this weekend!

You'll be fine. The desert dries fast. It still gets hot during the first few weeks of October. They're calling for mid to upper 90's to return by next weekend.
