Its almost as if Bass Pro Shops is involved with the NSA spying program. Today, I received a coupon for Bass Pro that has x6Rewards points on Nikon products. This after i already found myself leaning towards a set of Nikon Monarchs.

Thanks for the input guys. Don't think I'm really ready for spotting scopes yet. Just going to grab a good set of binos and a tripod. Maybe rent a spotting scope when I have time to scout just to test them out. Thanks again.

I've hunted tree stands all my life until I moved here. Here in AZ I just still hunt. If I hunted private property I would go back to tree stand hunting. For me, using a ground blind is not an option because IMO hunting should be done outdoors in the elements. Just how I was raised. To me, using a ground blind to hunt deer or elk is not hunting.

Hey guys, I was looking to get input on some good all around hunting magazines. I've bow hunted for deer since I was a kid, but it was a different kind of hunting back in Illinois -tree-stand hunting. I'm also looking to expand my hunting to turkey, waterfowl, and elk hunting. As far as deer go, I'm looking more for articles about technique since hunting in AZ is different than Illinois. I'm not worried about product reviews because every deer I have taken has been with a passed down and beat up bow that didn't have sights. I think that the hunter is far more important than the gear, Not having experience in the other areas means I'll also be looking for more stories that are technique related. Basically, I'm not looking for a lot of product reviews, nor am I looking for articles about a hunter who has a great deal of expendable income and time to hunt trophies. Just looking for articles for the regular guy that can help him become a better hunter. So far, I've found Western Hunter. Any comments on that mag? Thanks, Frank

No I totally agree! I've looked here and found some great stuff. I also have been able to get some great advice from hunters that I have run into in the field. Just looking to supplement cwt and other sources.

Hey all, just wanted to get some opinions on cell coverage here in AZ because you all are out in the woods too. I've been getting back out into the woods to camp and hunt the past three years and have found my cell service to be horrible. I am usually forced to hunt alone and I'd like to stop doing so without the use of a phone in case of an emergency. I currently have a plan with Sprint, but my contract is up soon. I've either hunted or camped out near the Prescott National Forest or the Apache-Sitgraves National Forest; and have had horrible cell coverage. Does anyone else regularly hunt or camp those areas and get good cell service? Thanks, Frank

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll start looking into Verizon.

I hear that! I'm still looking forward to my 18B late hunt in a couple of weeks, but grew up bowhunting so I can't wait. Which reminds me, when I went turkey hunting back in Aug. an arrow got loose in my bow case and frayed my strings. I need to take my bow in to get restrung.

In a couple of weeks I'm heading out to 18B and am looking for advice about where to setup my camp in relation to where I plan to hunt. and where others may be hunting. I've only ever hunted private campgrounds so were to camp has never been a question and I've never had to worry about other hunters other than my uncles, cousins, or father. I'm looking for general camping advice or advice specific to that unit. Thanks, Frank

So, I'm originally from Illinois and you have to wear hunter orange, except for bow-hunting. I've only hunted bow here and am heading out to 18B for a hunt rifle hunt. Do I need to wear hunter orange in this state? Probably will even if you don't because the area I plan to hunt is supposed to be heavily populated with hunters. I couldn't find any info on this in the rules and regs.

The debate format was horrible and the questions were even worse. Crowley's in debate fact check of Obama's statement on his Bengazi comments in the Rose Garden is going to call into question the integrity of this debate. His response to Mitt's question on the issue was not true and neither was Crowley's fact check.

No, it's called Wilmington Recreation Club. It's off of 55 and Coal City Rd near Braidwood. Loved that place.

So, I'm originally from Illinois and growing up my family had a membership to a private campground club. Our trailer stayed there year round in our same lot for the better part of 15 years. We paid a yearly fee, and were required to maintain our lot during the camping season. The club also owned a sizable wilderness area and water access. We hunted and fished year round. Does anyone know of anything similar in the state of Arizona? Thanks, Frank

I'm kind of in the same boat. I have been bow hunting since I was a child, but never for turkey. Going to give it a try this weekend while I'm camping at Bear Canyon Lake. Haven't scouted at all so I'm not going into it with high expectations.

I'm heading up to Bear Canyon Lake to camp with some friends Labor Day weekend and am going to try and get out to turkey hunt with my bow. It's going to be the first time I've ever hunted turkey so I'm not sure what to expect. I plan on just trying to get away from the people and head up towards Chevelon Lake and hit any water holes/tanks that I can find on google maps. Would you say this is a good strategy? Again, this is my first turkey hunt. I'll let you know if I run into anything.

Yea, that is what I figured, but unfortunately for me opening weekend is the only time I'll have available. Do you know anything about getting down into Burro Creek? I would guess the hunting pressure might not be as bad down there as it is kind of tuff to get down in without a 4x4.

Did anyone else draw 18B (#1029) and looking for someone to hunt with? I've done some preliminary scouting this week just to get familiar with the area and I was even able to see close to a dozen deer. I hit some of the places given on the AZGFD like Bozarth Mesa and Strotjost Flat, but had trouble getting to the NE most areas below ORO Ranch (BACA Float) due to gates being locked or land posted as private property and to proceed on foot only. If anyone is interested in teaming up or lending some advice I would welcome it.
