I'm glad nobody is abusing the EBT system... HA!
43F replied to reganranch's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Funny how word of the glitch spread like that. I mean how does that happen? Not a conspiracy theorist, but someone set that up. -
I think we have the same case. If you feel more comfortable putting extra locks on that is up to you, but the locks that are part of the latches for that Plano case fill the TSA requirement. I've never flown with ammo, so not sure about the rules, but I always thought they had to be in a separate case. I've only flown on American and US Air with guns and like 10Turkeys have had my guns come off with the luggage and other times I had to pick it up at the baggage claim office. Just assume that it is going to come off with the other luggage that way it won't walk away. If you don't see it, then check the baggage claim office.

Duck Hunting Next Mon or Tues?
43F replied to 43F's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Hard time to duck hunt now. December for a devil fan pm me just make sure u have enough shells. Will do. -
Hey guys, I've been wanting to get out and duck hunt for a couple of years, but have yet to do so. I have a break from school next Mon/Tues and was thinking about taking the opportunity to try and get out. Is there anyone going out that I can tag along with? Or can you guys give me any advice about open areas where I might be able to get away with not having a dog or boat?
-
bhick what did you use to retrieve? I was thinking about heading up next week when I have a break from school. I've never been duck hunting either and figured you are probably a good person to ask since you too just started.

Judging by the way the story was told, Chico should be sober no earlier than Tues. So, I'll check back on this thread then.

So, you're saying that you guy was blocking the road on public land. The guy would not let you pass. You wanted to go around. You didn't go around because you were scared to get into a close quarter combat situation. And now you're drunk and cannot articulate what happened.

Total joke! It going to turn out to be a traffic or road rage incident that was vastly overblown. It would appear now that the only shooters were the capitol hill police.

I thought the Wisconsin QB was going to beat a red up too. Bottom line is, the QB should have taken a knee and handed the ball to the ref. Instead he put the ball on the ground without taking a knee and tried to get his team lined up. ASU jumped on the ball and confusion ensued. Then time ran out. Again, bottom line the QB should have taken a knee and handed the ball to the ref.

Attention Campers/Hunters New rule in affect on leaving Trailer in the woods
43F replied to muzzlehunter75's topic in The Campfire
I'm really not sure how setting up camp (when pulling a trailer) is so much trouble that some use it as the reason to leave your trailers. I mean how hard can it be? Park it, unlock it, and maybe pull a couple of coolers out. People who tent it have to unload vehicles, put up tents, blow up air mattresses, etc. -
Yea, this is the correct answer, I don't remember anything about the Arizona Firearm Clearance Center.

I'm a bit confused. If your brother went to the gun store to purchase a gun, why did he not leave with it that day? I'm not aware of any law in Arizona that states that there is a waiting period. I've purchased pistols and walked out of the store with them the same day here in Arizona. I was also had an FFL for a little while and do not recall any laws that require a waiting period here. What is their policy then, how many days before one can leave with a gun purchased from them?

My buddy was just talking about this the past weekend. I'll hit him up and see if he has any more info.

Attention Campers/Hunters New rule in affect on leaving Trailer in the woods
43F replied to muzzlehunter75's topic in The Campfire
I saw a camp way out in 4A this past weekend where there were five trailers parked together. Only one trailer appeared to be occupied or being used because there was a vehicle there and some camping equipment out. Good advice about leaving vehicles. -
I was in 4A this weekend camping and trying to hunt. We were out hunting in a draw and came across a cam. Did not expect to see one in this area as it was pretty isolated and kind of hard to get to. Anyway, after I waved I felt sad in the fact that I felt that what I did was not the norm, but the exception considering all the stories I read here. I also felt bad because about ten yards after we passed the cam, we came across a nice elk working his way up the draw. Surely would have gotten his pic taken by the cam. We tried to take cover on either side of the draw to let the elk pass through, but he spotted my partner and ran the way he came. I'm guessing he may have been the same one we heard bugling the night before as he was heading in the general direction. We ran across a few other elk in the general area and are planning on hunting in next year if we can get drawn.

Me and a buddy are heading up early tomorrow morning. Not even sure where we are going to camp or hunt yet. We were leaning towards Unit 4 or 23N. Any suggestions based solely on weather, and better places to camp in light of the weather?
-
So since I am not going to be able to use my Unit 23 turkey tag I have to donate it to a nonprofit? I cannot transfer/donate it lets say to another couswhitetail member's child?

I would have addressed this guy's wife and child. More than likely the child would have recently taken a hunter safety course and I would have tried to appeal to the child's sense of ethics given the unethical nature of his father's actions. I then would let his wife know the poor example her husband is setting for her son. An example that if replicated on a lesser person may lead to a physical confrontation that would put her son at risk. Finally, an eye for an eye, I would have ruined his hunt by spooking the deer. I understand that hunting on public land is for everyone and have run into other hunters in the field, but not one hunter has ever acted like this bhole If they had come from a different direction and happened to see the same deer that is one thing. heck in that type of situation I would go so far as to help the other hunter if they truely had a better opportunity than I, and then put myself in a position to take advantage of any mistake that may send the deer in my direction. But this guy basically walked up on you, sat down next to you, looked in the direction you were glassing, found the deer you were glassing, and decided to move on the deer. I'd like to see how that would go if I tried to do that this weekend to someone. And I'm not walking the hunting area with a child and wife.

I was at Big Lots the other day looking for shelving and ran across some good deals on canopies. I already have one, but the prices were so good I was tempted to purchase another. I think the 10x10's were less than a hundred and they also had a 20x10 that was a little more than a hundred. The metal structure for the ones I found at Big Lots seemed to be the same as my Bass Pro.

Get there before they do. Crack a chem light so they see you're there and hope for the best.

Anyone have about 20 javalina tags that they would like to fill? Come on by, I live in N. Scottsdale. This is only four of the 20ish that are always lurking around the wash on the side of the house. I try to scare them off as much as I can because I come home from work after dark and I probably would not see them lurking and I don't want to get bit. We had a dog a few years back get into it with a few of them and it was not pretty. The first three are right outside my bedroom window and the last is one that was across the street.

Tree Stand or Ground Blind (for new hunter)
43F replied to Stallone A.'s topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I'm kind of in the same situation. I have a buddy that wants to start bow hunting so we are going to head up north as well. I don't have a tree stand and I'm not inclined to use ground blinds so it should be interesting. He is really going to be the only one hunting because I'd rather hunt once the seasons change. I guess I'm more of a romantic that way when it comes to hunting. Plus I'm not sure I'm even going to get by bow back by then. I have a Hoyt HavocTec and apparently they only used the cam setup for one year and the new string is going to be a special order. That being said, if I had a tree stand I would put my buddy up in it. -
Perhaps it's because I grew up hunting private land or perhaps it's because I had about a ten year gap in hunting during which many of the things taken became main stream hunting gear, but I don't get the sense of entitlement surrounding ones ability to leave cameras, tree stands, and blinds on public land. Adding that the sense of entitlement seemingly drives the use of those same devices to mark ones territory on public land, leading to confrontation in the field. I've never said I'm a smart man, but I'd be willing to bet the equipment being taken has more to do with FS employees attempting to discourage and intimidate hunters in order to protect areas they plan to hunt. Again, going back to entitlement, they probably think that since they are the ones out there maintaining the forests that they should be the ones harvesting wildlife.
