Go to either the pope and young or boone and crocket website and look up local measurers. There should be about 10 or so guys in the state with their numbers listed.

here you go.... Trail part closed by mountain-lion action Arizona Daily Star Arizona Daily Star Saturday, June 1, 2013 12:00 am The Forest Service has temporarily closed a portion of a popular trail in the Catalina Mountains for public safety due to a mountain lion's behavior. "There was no attack," said Coronado National Forest spokeswoman Heidi Schewel. But she said there was a report from a reliable source that the mountain lion wasn't acting like a "wild" lion. It was "being out in daylight, not showing fear of humans, that sort of thing," Schewel said. "To give the mountain lion time to move on," humans are prohibited from entering portions of West Fork Trail until June 7. Those are the intersection of West Fork Trail and Cathedral Rock Trail (Trail No. 26) and the intersection of West Fork Trail and Sabino Rock Trail (Trail No 23). That part of West Fork Trail is part of the Arizona Trail, and it goes past the popular destination of Hutch's Pool. Mountain lion encounters are rare except where the animals have become habituated to humans. Schewel said: "Lions are top-level predators capable of inflicting injury on humans. Do not approach them. If a lion is encountered, stay calm and speak loudly and firmly. Do not run, as it may stimulate a lion's instinct to chase. Stand and face the animal, raise your arms or open your jacket to look large, and slowly back away." Lion sightings should be reported to game officials at 628-5376 or 1-800-352-0700.

the thing is, normally first time posters are scammers. Most trusted people have been on the site for a while.....

Anyone doing the over the counter archery turkey
sniper replied to couesdeerhntr's topic in Turkeys!
Headed up to 23 tomorrow to look for some turkeys..... Anyone else getting out? -
Cool pics of the cats! I am pretty sure I know that area. I saw a dead horse there 2 years ago, and my bet is that it was killed by a lion. I have called several times back there, as it is close to home. I located lion tracks there 1 time that looked fresh. They did a news story a few years ago about people reporting lion sightings out there and it was confirmed by G&F. Glad you were able to get pics of it!

Predator Called Spring Bear - The Anomaly
sniper replied to kidso's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Awesome Kidso! Another great story. Terrible ending though. I wish it would have worked out better! Great job on the hand call. -
Wow, that's a monster!

This guy responded to my email and said he was currently on a "business trip" in Ohio and said they would ship from there. No thanks.

Cool pics, especially the timing on the lion!

Shot a bear last year at 434 yards with a 308. Went 40 feet and died.

Now that is crazy! Wow, I have imagined this happening over and over during the long painful hours in a tree stand!

sniper replied to oz31p's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
That is awesome! I have taken my daughter out a few times and haven't got anything yet. Can't wait till we do! -
Kidso- Based on the terrain and scat that I saw, I thought that for sure I would get a fox coming in.....but nada. I called maybe 5 stands. Thegrayghost- Good to know that they have been spotted out there. And awesome on your buddy's lion! I kept imagining a lion strolling in also......

A buddy and I went up to 22 yesterday and spent the day glassing/calling. We didn't see any fresh sign and nothing came into the caller. I didn't have high expectations this early but thought I would give it a shot. There is a LOT of water up there. All the washes are still flowing good. I will get back out there in a few weeks to check it out. Perfect weather up there right now.

Took me a minute, but finally found it!

Giving a Coyote a Haircut

Awesome video! -
I made a roast in the slow cooker this year with some and it was great. Cooked it like any other roast recipe. I also made "pulled lion" sandwiches and my daughters loved them.

I am going to get out to 23n and 22 for the OTC hunt this year. Never tried spring bear. I hear they don't move around as much so they are a little harder to find. I will probably do some calling and be out scouting and shed hunting all at the same time. Looking forward to getting out.
