bonecollecter777, im curious to know how the topic between you and the supervisor came about, do you know Bob Burkly personally or did you just run into a GF officer and start up the topic and he spilled his guts how one of his employees arrowed a huge bull 2 weeks after helicopter surveys. As for ethics there like butholes everyone has one as for if its leagal or not im afraid so, if the officer flew surveys the day of the hunt and then went hunting the same day its legal, highly unlikely but legal. The coment about taxpayers paying for the fuel I hope you weren't refering to az taxpayers.

your hunt starts 4-26-13 and you can hunt thru 5-02-13, then the second hunt starts and those hunters get 7 days to hunt then starting 05-10-13 you can hunt again and so can the guys that had the 2nd hunt, what it amounts to is there used to just be 1 hunt and then the GF stratified the hunts so that each group gets 7 days to hunt and then both hunts can hunt to the end, hopefully that makes sense and answers your question

my guess is if the parent, gaurdian, mentor or whoever the adult was present would have called the G&F and self-reported the nearest WM would have responded and they would have gotten all the details in the incident. most likely they would have done everything possible to salvage the meat from the spike. if the WM truly believed it was an accident they probably would have written up a written warning to the shooter and may have let the jr. keep the cow since they did have a tag for that animal.

from the stats printed in the 2012 hunt az book looks to me hunt success for rifle has remained pretty consistent from 2007 to 2011, bottom line
-
the only thing that matters is the final score and that sure was a pretty GREEN A

the biologists are the WM's and they are not biased to hunting
-
I don't agree with every decision the AZGFD makes but to say they are highly biased against hunting is just ridiculious, if they don't sell hunting and fishing license they don't exist. For those of you that think they get az tax money think again, they don't get a dime from the tax payers of az. why do you think they push recruitment and retention so hard
-
its quite possible I'm wrong here but i think the only counties where it is illegal to feed wildlife excluding birds is pima and maricopa and if you look at that law it says if you are legally hunting then feeding wildlife is allowed. I think the law was passed to reduce animal conflicts in the urban areas within those counties.

IMO the only option you have is gather the best data you can gather and put it in a well organized letter and send it to the department. Utah allows baiting has anyone tried to gather any data on how fast CWD is spreading there, Colorado doesnt allow baiting how fast is it spreading there. I don't think the argument that baiting is a good way for retention or recruitment of hunters is going to get you to far, from what I've heard here about baiting is it is lots of work and long walks to bait sites, I think if you can hike 2 miles to a bait site you're not to old or handicapped to hunt without bait. If you think its going to be a huge economic impact then provide the data. show how much money the mom and pop stores are making off seeling bait ect. bottom line is if you havent sent an e-mail or letter to the department it will sure make it easy for the G&F to make their decision.

yes, a jr. hunting license is good for any hunts he puts in for. you could put him in for a general elk or jr. elk on same app, you just have to pay the higher price if you do paper app and if you apply online you will be charged whichever one he draws
-
he can get a youth combo for $26.50
-
if he has a hunting lic. he could always say he was rabbit hunting, wouldnt buy a lion tag and tell a G&F officer he was hunting lion with a 22 pistol pretty sure 22 isnt legal method of take for a lion

G&F doesn't have anything to do with how the USFS chooses to manage the forest land -
glad to hear hunter reunited with bull but what a waist of meat, just my opinion but sure seems people more worried about antler recovery than meat recovery

New to Dove Hunting
654321 replied to chatcher's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
make sure the area you're hunting isn't private property and you're more than 440 yards from any occupied buildings. if you have all day take the willow springs rd. off 77 lots of stock tanks, you can take that rd to freeman rd and loop back to highway between oracle jct, and florence when you get to the junction of willow you can go to the right towards dudleville or left and go towards florencd/kelvin highway. you will see a ton of cool country and should see some dove -

hopefully you got their license plate and some details about driver and call the OGT hot line -
i believe by the fall draw of 2014 you will see a price increase in tags and lic.

if you go to the G&F web page and scroll down the side to July 24 spring hunt rec. and open it then open hunt guideline and then spring hunt it has the spring proposals. if you read the paragraph it would appear that you could have 2 pig tags in your poss. as long as their not the same hunt #. so it seems to me you could have an archery permit in 6A&b and also haave an archery permit in 19A as long as you drew one hunt and picked the other hunt first come first serve since they are different hunt #.

lets hope that turkey died of old age and not some disease it picked up on the big ole local bait pile
