Arizona Game and Fish officer under investigation
654321 replied to bonecollector777's topic in The Campfire
Shedhunteraz, Bash for false information? I dont think the AZ DPS would start a criminal investigation due to false or nonExistent information. Our DPS are hard working folks and deserve a little more respect. Let see what this criminal investigation unturns... Did i misread the article or did it state that AZGFD officials initiated the investigation because they felt there might be reason for concern. IMO DPS was brought in as an outisde agency to do the investigation so there would be no internal bias, DPS will either find something wrong or they wont -
Last Day Duck Hunt!

Don't forget there is still a jr. hunt for the southern zone Feb. 2nd & 3rd. -
If Az. has to have a wolf we got the perfect one. I believe they started the reintroduction efforts around 1998 and today there are still way less than a hundred of them. They started reintroducing wolves in Yellowstone about the same time and there are now thousands of them over several states. Pretty sure there are no wolves on the south rim yet the elk are causing problems in the park. Plenty of elk around the homes in williams, flagstaff, munds park, pine, payson, ect. no wolves. IMO elk are smart lots of good stuff around homes.

I would have much rather seen the G&F offer the navajos the same deal they gave the hopis, some permits for tribal members only for access to ranch. who knows maybe they did and the navajos said no, which left them the option they now have, I don't know. You might as well be driving across the reservation the tribe owns the ranch, can someone please explain to me how these tribes can afford to buy these large ranches, I'm I missing something. -
Outcome of the Game & Fish meeting today????
654321 replied to AZLance's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Did you ever see those letters or emails? I never did. Did they ever read them? We have no idea because there is no accountability. Any time that we can get a small portion of our tax dollars back from the black hole (feds) then that is a good thing. Above all guys lets remember that we are all hunters here. If we don't support each other then we can kiss all of our opportunities goodbye. Guns, tags, forests there are people out there who want to take all of it. We have got to find a way not to kick the chair out from under each other all the time. -

The problem Game and Fish would never know if hunters supported it or not, because they didn't bother to ask outside of a formality required by their legislation. No survey, no request for input, no research. Just a handful of guys limited to 3 minutes each while the commission ate its lunch prior to passing their pre-determined unanimous vote. I'm pretty sure there were 30 days where you could write letters send e-mails, ect. ID allows baiting for some species. I used to live there and have a life time license. According to Idaho law, the use of bait to hunt or take big game animals other than black bear is unlawful. Bait is defined as any substance placed to attract big game animals, except liquid scent for deer and elk. The use of salt placed to attract elk or deer for hunting is considered bait and is illegal. Hunting over salt placed by someone else, for instance, as part of a livestock operation, is also illegal. Hope all you were hunting were bears on bait Any time that we can get a small portion of our tax dollars back from the black hole (feds) then that is a good thing. Be careful, those Fed $ come with some major strings attached ie Mexican Wolf Recovery Program Every wildlife agency in this country survives by federally matched funds Above all guys lets remember that we are all hunters here. If we don't support each other then we can kiss all of our opportunities goodbye. Guns, tags, forests there are people out there who want to take all of it. We have got to find a way not to kick the chair out from under each other all the time. -

Wish I was when I have run into WM's in the field and had a civil conversation it seems they have a pretty cool job, as for waisting tax dollars the G&F don't recieve any of your az tax dolllars, seems to me you shouldn't be waisting time posting on this site and you had better hurry and sit your bait site seems time is about to run out on that. -
How did you feel when the G&F decided to change the rule on using aircraft. I hate to admit it but it truly didn't break my heart when they changed the rule. I know this probably screwed some hunters and the way they chose to hunt but i for one don't miss the fact you can't use airplanes to locate game during the hunt.

The 20% pass is they(AZGF) set aside 20% of tags for each hunt to those with the highest bonus pts., they do this draw first and look at your 1st and 2nd choices. Your random number wasn't low enough in bonus pass for the available tags so it looked at your 2nd choice where there were still tags. Once the 20% pass is done you are given a new random number and the draw does the 2nd phase where they look at your 1st and 2nd choices. If you had only put 1 choice you would have gotten your first choice, you would have not gotten your tag in the 20% pass but would have gotten it in the 2nd phase of the draw. If your concerned about the number of tags given out call the AZGFD and ask them if you can speak to someone in the draw and ask why your permit number is higher than the original number of permits.

AZGFD banned baiting they are the scum of the earth lets go to another state. Guess what cant hunt Co., NM, Ca, Id. Mont. Go to TX. if you have some property or money. You can try Ut. but they give a huge amount of their tags to SFW. go back east just be careful you may get some tainted CWD meat -
ASU 3-1 con., U of A 3-1 con.

Coach, did you ever think that maybe just maybe the majority of hunters are for the ban and maybe the handful of priveledged decision makers you speak of spoke for the majority. this is a great site with good people but it is a very very small representation of az hunters could just be that most hunters in this state don't agree with the views and opinions of those on this site. 190000 plus license holders 6000 or so members. -
its called the 20% pass, your first choice filled its 20% so it went to your 2nd choice where you drew a tag in that 20%. the draw then went to the 2nd phase where it looks at 1st and 2nd choices, guess what not all tags were picked. next it went to the 3rd phase of draw, 3rd,4th, &5th choices, guess what not all tags alloted for that hunt were picked so they went to leftovers. for years now there have been thousands of pig tags unsold by the time the hunts start and end. due to the rules pig bag limit was 1 pig a yr. was money being lost ,you bet, heres a kicker maybe do to the fact that thousands of tags were going unused posssibly harvest goals werent being met. what do you do raise the tag numbers for next year, makes sense you cant sell the lower tag numbers. heres an idea change the bag limit. make the money you should be getting, maybe meet harvest objectives and heres the drawback more opportunity to hunt pigs that really sucks.

Wow can you believe the AZGFD banned baiting this state now ranks right up there with the other 28 other states that dont allow baiting. It seems there are a few members that are disgusted with this outcome and thinks the AZGFD hates hunters and couldn't care less what hunters think. Heres one for you, maybe just maybe most Az hunters agree with the ban. I'm going to go out on a limb and bet that when the tag grab fiasco was occurring that the majority of Az hunters were very suppportive of squashing any attempt to steal tags from what many people felt were the average joes and the departmnet was made very aware of how most felt about it. I'm going to go out on another limb and bet that if most hunters in this state felt the same way about baiting as they did about the tag grab the ban on baiting wouldnt have happened. -

Zim....In their last issue, Huntin Fool is saying all the Unit 1 archery tags went to applicants with at least 11 points last year (2012). According to Hunters Trailhead, at 11 points nonresident applicants have drawn in the max point pool (20% pass) every year for the past 5 years. The draw odds have ranged from 8% to 67%. HT says the odds were 21% in 2012. There is apparently a report available at AZF&G, that the outfitters have access to, that specifically breaks out the nonresident odds. I wish I could get my hands on a copy. call the G&F and ask for the info There is a thing called Freedom of information act, you may have to pay for the info though

It will be interesting to see what changes WY has in their draw, pretty good chance the regular price antelope will cost the NR about 370 for tag plus app fee going up
